Have you ever did any cool bass tricks while jamming, playing a gig or just fooling around at your home?
Today i did my first few.
Ok, well first while playing Sixpounder-Children of Bodom i managed to play while the headstock was stright up in the air, i looked so cool xd and it was fun to play at that angle.
My other trick was while i was playing my older bass i ran off my stairs in my house(about 3 feet high, not high since i jumped off 30 foot cliffs and stuff) while playing bass. It seemed cool since i sorta got an boost of energy.
So, List off any tricks you have seen or done with your bass

While using an effects processor, ive taken my bass off and held it in one hand while doing some quick taps from the 9th fret while the bass slide my hand down to the 3rd fret with the same hand i was holding it with (rather simple tap melody) and did a few easy string pulls all the while using the foot pedal to do all the "impressive sounding" guitar work. Very easy to do if you build your arm up long enough to hold your bass out with yout arm extended in one hand for at least 30 seconds before sliding the strap back on for some more serious play.
To any musician (and some non-musicians) its obvious that the processor/pedal that is doing most of the work, but its still something crowds love to see. smile
Other than that, i really dont do any other form of tricks.. on my bass anyways.

There's the tricks that made Tom Morello famous: Killswitch, feedback, and effects combo; as well as alternating wah and whammy while tapping the tip of the instrument cable on the bridge.
Also, grabbing the head of a bass and pulling it towards yourself, bending the neck, bends the pitch like a cheap tremolo.

I can imagine the truss rod getting all out of whack when that happens.

After all the bending, you may have to readjust a bit but anything short of cracking the wood shouldn't hurt it too bad.

What's true for bending the neck is true for shrimp cocktail; always in moderation.

I've been know to literaly beat the head of the base with the palm of my hand.
Just once, once in a while real fast in the middle of a line or such.

My only real "trick" is taking off the strap while I'm playing and standing the bass up on my foot to play it like an upright. It's fun to spin it around while doing that as well, but it gets a little hard with cables everywhere and whatnot. P.S. I use my fingers, rarely do I use picks, so this is possible for me to do. With a pick, I don't know...

I found that if I ping one of the strings on the headstock, it makes a sound very much like a bell. Very eerie. I'm not sure if it's good for the health of my bass though!
