The forests were much larger than he had anticipated but rather than be less than impressed by this fact, he was instead, very pleased. He had his reasons for this, for a start he had already encountered some of the most exotic creatures within the forest and they were a constant subject of fascination to him regardless of whether he hid this intrigue from them or not.
This evening was of no exception and as he continued to roam through the forests with the soft chirping of crickets and other nightlife to accompany him, he couldn't help but steal an appreciative smile - well, no one else could see it so he had nothing to hide, now did he?
"What a pleasant evening." He mused to himself in his usual, soft and sultry voice, flicking and swivelling his ears as he continued with his attempts to pick up any signs of life but instead he found something quite extrodinary that captured his interests much more quickly.
Before him was a small grove, hidden from view by the overlapping bush cover within the forest and the thick trunks but within it there was a beautiful surprise. Small white and pink flowers (daisy and otherwise) lined the almost trimmed grass which surrounded the peaceful and otherwise undisturbed pool of water which seemed to be fed by only a mere trickle of a water fall.
On closer inspection (in which he got his nose damp) he realised that most of the water (save a few droplets) was travelling through the mosses and overlying ivy to drop with the most quiet of 'pops' upon the surface of the water which in itself, had no outlet... A possible underground feed?
"How interesting." He murmured gently as he flicked his amber eyes towards the flowers and then the mosses thoughtfully. This truly would make quite an appropriate place to court a mare, he would have to keep it in mind...

A fair distance away, the almost inaudiable sound of laughter could be heard, carried on the gentle wind that swept through the night. A lone mare was the source of the laughter, although it was unclear exactly what she was laughing at.
A content sigh escaped the mare's throat, accompanied by a small smile that touched the delicate features of her face for only a breif moment, before she started walking again. She hadn't originally planned on entering the forest this evening, as she was aware of certain dangers that lurked in the darkness. But tonight was sure to be a beautiful night, and she just couldn't resist.
Murky orange orbs peered in and around the trees and bushes, scouting the area for anyone or anything. For a timid girl, she was quite brave, but that came from the fact that she was almost constantly aware of her surroundings.

Huh?
His ears twitched as he heard the faint sound. It was almost musical in quality and quite unlike anything he had heard before. Admittedly he was aware that it was female but something so soft and virtually inaudible had only ever been that appeared in stories, or so he expected?
Spirits? Ghosts? Nymphs?
Raising a brow, the otherwise sultry figure turned his head in the direction of the sound, pausing for a few moments to consider his options before determining that following the sound might lead him to something quite unique. Perhaps if it was a forest nymph he could use it to his advantage, perhaps if it were a spirit he could harness it's power to suit his needs.
And so, with a slight nod of his head the exotic beast slipped out from the sanctuary in which he had uncovered and towards the sounds, navigating his way passed the various snags with suiable ease so that his robes wouldn't get caught.
...Now where was the pretty critter hiding?

The snow-white parts of the mare stuck out like a sore hoof against the lush greens and burnt browns of the trees, whilst the jet-black of her legs, her chest and the markings around her face allowed for her to unite with the darkness.
With a firm, quick flick, she tossed her mane from one side of her head to the other, allowing her ears to roll forward. What was that? A faint jingling sound reached her ears. It wasn't a sound she recognised straight away, and so she was quite confused by it. It didn't sound harmful though, if anything, it was a pretty little sound. Not one to take chances however, she slowly turned on her back legs and started to walk away from it.

Step by step he continued in the direction that he had heard the sound and yet it seemed that it had stopped. He wa remotely perturbed as it was most unlike him to have to pursue anything that he wanted, surely a nymph would any intelligence would realise that he required their company and thus would have stayed in their place?
With a sigh, he finally reached the point where he had heard the laughter or where he thought it had come from and saw nothing spectacular, no rings of trees, no exotic flowers - bloody spirits, how dare they tease him in this manner?
But then again, weren't nymphs shy?
Quirking a brow the Stallion glanced about his feet for any indication of where this little sprite might be and was greeted with small hoof prints, evidently of another soquili. Were nymphs shaped like Soquili perchance? His ears swivelled as he took note of the direction they had moved in and calmly followed suit. Perhaps this was a challenge in which he was encouraged to chase the nymph and in return for his part in the game he would be granted what he desired.
"Come now, why do you flee..." He commented in a low voice, trailing after his new object of interest. It was during this time that a rather surprising gust of wind brushed against his head and caused the rings upon his hair ornaments to give a louder and slightly more musical chime...

The cautious mare stopped dead in her tracks as she heard a voice, albeit faint, followed by the pretty sound of jingling that she had originally been fleeing from. The voice was so reassuring to her, but it would take more than a pleasant voice and some lovely sounds to make her change course. She may not have felt in any danger, but as always, it was better to be safe than sorry.
Eventually, somehow, the mare found herself at the small clearing that her persuer had started from. Clearly navigation through the forest during nightfall wasn't her strong point. Slowly she edged into the clearing, looking in all directions as she did so. It was quite beautiful, full of flowers and vines, and the soft sound of trickling water. Hopefully the sound of the water would mask the sound of her movements, as she went to the other side of the clearing to get a better view of the direction from which she had just come.

Now why did this area look familiar? His eyebrow rose as he continued to follow the light hoof prints, ignoring the brush as it drew against his garb and left a number of leaves on the soft material. He could have sworn he'd been here before and couldn't quite place why - had he bumped into someone here or had an argument, it wouldn't have been the first time.
...And then it hit him, as the rings around his horns continued to jingle softly with each ofer his strides he finally caught side of the thickening tree trunks and vines over head - he was back where he had started! Had the nymph purposefully led him in circles? Was this deliberately orchestrated to see how far he would go for a glimpse of something so magical?
The nymph of righ, he was perfectly prepared to chase her and thus he didn't even hesitate as he wove through the trees once more but his eyes didn't fall on a nymph, instead the fell on something that might as well have been just as small, but much prettier than he had anticipated.
"Well, well." He commented in the same soft tone as before, "Not quite the nymph that I was expecting." He observed delicately.

The mare spotted the shimmering blue Soquili before he spotted her, as she had moved to the other side of the clearing just so she could have a look at the direction she had just come from. She didn't run though, as she knew that any minute now he would spot her, and it would be rude to run away from him.
Sure enough, as he fully emerged from the forest into the clearing, he addressed her. "Nymph?" The mare seemed rather confused, but she shrugged it off quickly. Her amber orbs gazed over the male, her look of confusion being replaced by a look of awe. What is he wearing? How did he get his mane to look like that? What's all that gold stuff IN his mane? Many thoughts ran through the mare's head as she tried to put her hoof on exactly what that male Soquili was. If anyone was the stuff of legend, it was him, not her.

"Yes, it is said that only Nymphs sing across the still air of the forest. To those that find them, they are supposed to bring good luck." He explained quietly, still admiring her peculiar pelt which was rather simplistic but at the same time very pretty. He had run into such extravagant mares as of late that he hadn't had a chance to encounter anyone with 'bland' colours and thus he was more intrigued by her than he had been byy other unicorns, wind soquili and otherwise.
Clearing his throat, the stallion flicked his tail against his hind quarters thoughtfully and canted his head to the side, the gold rings upon his horns releasing yet another delicate chime. Having grown accustomed to it, he was unawre that such soft and musical sounds count have been the reason in which she had sent him on this wild goosechase in the first place.
"Do you always encourage males to chase you through the forest, or was I simply lucky this evening?" He enquired curiously, flicking his dulled amber gaze towards her. Unlike any of the others he had encountered, he was less inclined to cause any 'trouble' for this one...afterall, she was the first one to flee from him as opposed to insulting or attempting to batter him into submission and that impressed him to no end.
For now, hewould give her the benefit of the doubt.

The mare listened intently, a thoughtful expression on her face. He was very soft-spoken, but had a very strong aura of what she translated as confidence. Certainly, she had never come across anyone like him. "I hope I'm not too much of a disappointment then." She said finally, with a gentle laugh. "I bet Nymphs are really pretty." With a light nod of her head, she tried to imagine what one might look like.
When the male spoke up again, she looked rather taken-aback. The thought of her leading any male on went completely over her head, as it was something she would never ever do intentionally. She wasn't one to ever draw attention to herself. "No no, of course not."
At that moment, she would've blushed if it were possible. "I was just being cautious, that's all. I'd never allow you- I mean, I wouldn't want you to - ugh!" The mare let out a frustrated snort as she became rather tongue tied. "What I mean is, I would never purposely lead anyone on a wild goose chase." She let out a breif sigh of relief as she finally got out what she was trying to say.

His eyebrow shot up. Of all the mares he had encountered (and he had met a lot), he had never before stumbled upon a female who stumbled upon her words in such a manner. More to the point, he had never encountered a female that was prepared to explain herself as opposed to accusing him or being at fault for some obscure reason or another.
Oddly enough, he found it rather endearing.
"I cannot say what a Nymph would look like as I have never found one, although according to legend they are incredibly pretty." Lowering his brow in order to prevent any discomfort her fixed his gaze upon her and swivelled his ears slightly to show that he was rather intrigued by her (although he wouldn't openly admit it).
"And you are far from a disappointment. You are beyond even my expectations, I was unaware that such beauties as you existed within these lands." He went on to explain, shifting his weight so that his right hindleg was rested and the other remained stable to support him.
"Would you be so kind as to grant me the pleasure of knowing your name?"

The mare tried her hardest to keep her gaze fixed on the male, but she just couldn't, as what he said was completely unexpected. On top of that, she didn't believe it. How can anyone that looks like that think that I'M pretty? It's crazy! He's crazy! Her gaze still fixed on the ground, she began pawing at the soil, raking it backwards bit by bit with the tip of her hoof. Even when playing with the dirt she used a certain amount of delicacy. "Thank you." She managed to utter under her breath, although the male may not have heard it as her voice was almost a whisper as she said it.
When he asked for an introduction, she took in a short breath before lifting her head, flicking her mane back as she did so to get any loose strands out of her face. "My name is Ailurinae." She eyed the male, reletively sure that he could handle her rather long name. But then again, it was better to be safe than sorry. "You can call me Ailu though, if you want too." Ailurinae smiled, as the small part of her that was actually eager to know his name took over. "I'd like to know your name too."

"You would be surprised as to how many wish to know who I am..." Moving forward slightly, he placed his hoof over the soil in which she was toying with and fixed his gaze upon her now shy face. The moment he had complimented her, she had changed, now demure and almost incapable of accepting his compliments without some force.
What an odd mare, and one that was becoming increasingly attractive as the moments passed. Not only was she beautiful to the eye but she was also considerably more approachable and pleasant than the other mares - apparently, Yei was right, there were suitable mares in this valley.
"But in this case, I will gladly inform you that my name is Paramekia. It is a pleasure to meet you Ailurinae." He introduced himself, a small and somewhat unreadable smile flitting on to his equine lips as he continued to admire her changing expression. It was almost as though she were uncomfortable but not so much because he had invaded her personal space (as he had only done that now), but more because he had given her a compliment.
"Do you always hide from the truth, Lady Ailu? They say it is rude to not meet the eye of the one that speaks with you..." He murmured softly, tilting his head slightly to the point that once again the ornaments on his head gave a soft chime.

As the male moved forward, Ailurinae took a small step backwards. It wasn't that she minded the male being so close, she was just startled by his sudden movement and the first reaction that came to mind was to step back. Really, the thought of many others wishing to know his name didn't come as a suprise to her. No doubt he could have any female he wanted. "That's a lovely name." She said with a nod, returning his smile. "And it's a pleasure to meet you too."
At his next comment, Ailurinae bit her bottom lip. "I'm sorry, I was just a bit taken-aback by what you said earlier." She laughed, a little half-heartedly. "I'm not used to hearing that kind of thing."
