In the great and ancient Elvish city of Melindell, there is a library, which holds a book for every war, era and historical event in Erade. It is here that the tale of the War of Shadows, and the story of the war which decided the fate of the world sits. Of course, that tale is far too long to speak of here...So I will merely be creating an Index, of major people who took part in this conflict, places of intrest and the races which vied for control of the world of Erade. Welcome...To the Melindell Archives.

Places

Erade

This, is the name of the world in which all peoples live. It is a great wide world, full of mystery, adventure, danger, and wonders beyond your wildest dreams. It is the primary landmass on the planet. It stretches, all the way from the Endless Ocean in the east, to the western shores of the Endless Ocean, all in all, about 80,000 miles. And it stretches from the Great Ice Sea in the far south, to the land of Mazlanegh in the far north, a most inhospitable land indeed. The landmass resembles the entirty of Europe, Asia and Africa in our world, minus the Mediterranian and the Middle East. It's climate is much like our worlds as well, except that the Asianic climate does not exist in Erade, it is almost entirely a European climate.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kingdom and Country
Melindell: The homeland of the High Elves, wisest, oldest and fairest of all beings, in their opinion. Their capital, which is also called Melindell, sits in a great beautiful valley, carved out by the River Heve. Many beautiful trees and plants grow here. It is the home of vast libraries, universities and houses of healing, and is a place which is welcome to any weary travellers, Elvin or otherwise.
Sendethnarr: One of the two homes of the Wood Elves, who unlike the High Elves, more favor learning the ways of the Arcane than basic knowlage.
Duskwood: The other home of the Wood Elves. This forest, in the Elder Days was known as Dawnwood...But that was before the shadow fell upon it. Now the forest is inhabited not only by the steadfast Elves who dwell there in their city of Gendethnarr, but also by giant Spiders, and other hideous creatures of darkness.
Tren'Mordan: The ancestrial home of the Dwarves. It lies under the Great White Mountains. Its ancient halls are vast and shimmering with Gold and Mithril, which the Dwarves mine for armor and trade...But other things...Dwell in the darkness as well.
Jor'Guldin: The Great Hill, another home of the Dwarves. It is a mine which pales in comparison to Tren'Mordan, but, that does not mean its not great. It has been turned more into a stronghold than a mine however, unlike the ancient capital of the Dwraves.
Huma Sadra: The great capital, of the human kingdom of Taladad*. It is a grand city, with great spires rising to the sky. Its vast walls were built to defend it from the corruption and threat of Zranatagg, land of Shadow. The humans have been at war with the evils of Zranatagg for as long as anyone could remember.
Rogariath: The great fortress of Taladad. It sits nestled inbetween two great peaks at the most southern tip of the White Mountains. Its walls have never been breached and it has never fallen to Zranatagg hands.
Mensk: The capital of the human kingdom of Djorn**, the land of the horses. This city is not well defended, since war has never been waged upon the walls itself, the great Mensk Cavalry have made sure that no creature of darkness has ever gotten close enough.
Shanborough: The homeland of the Halflings, a very peaceful farming people, the Halflings have very little to do with people outside their small slice of paradise. They are not a warfaring people, and would very much just keep to themselves. They are about the size of small children even at their adult stages, and do not wear shoes, instead they have leathery soles on their feet which are also quite big and furry.
Zarnatagg: Land of Eternal Shadow. This is the ancient kingdom of Mezgal, the Dark Lord. It was here that in the First War, the War of the Ancients, that Mezgal used his Blade of Shadow against the king of Taladad, Sembrin. It was here at the foot of Mezgal's great tower of Demiarck, that Sembrin struck down Mezgal...And took the blade for his own. It is riddled with fire, ash, and volcanos
Huma Degreth: The stronghold of The Death Lord, the most powerful and most trusted servent of Mezgal, it sits very close to the only passage into Zarnatagg, the Pass of Chaos.
*: Taladad, the most powerful and the largest of the two human kingdoms, it is constantly at war with the remanants Mezgal's forces.
**: Djorn, the land of horses. This place has been at peace with Taladad for centuries, they are grand allies, and it is not uncommon to see Djornian Cavalry riding with Taladadian Knights into battle.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Miscilanious Places

Wilderland: The lands that seperate Shanborough and Melindell, it is mostly forest and open field, and lives under the rule of regional lords and such, there are few to no major cities in the region, but still manages to be prosperous and has little to no crime. Ruins dating back to the First War with Mezgal can be seen across the region.

Mathorn Forest: A deep, dark forest which lies in Taladad, there is only one structure of human creation in the woods, the ancient fortress of Feratan, which is now the home of Wertan, the Archmage. He used to be a friend to all living things, but recently, his attitude towards creatures of the world have changed...And not in a good way.

Duskwood: It is explained above.

Endless Ocean: A great body of water resting on both the western part of Erade, and the east as well, it is assumed that nothing else lies far out at sea besides small islands.

White Mountains: A great mountain range which seperates the lands of the north ((Shanborough, Melindell, Wilderland etc...)), in them rests Tren'Mordan, home city of the Dwarves.

Mazlanegh: A vast inhospitable frozen wasteland, nothing lives here. It used to be the kingdom of The Death Lord, Mezgal's most trusted and powerful servent, until he was forced out in the First War.

Pass of Chaos: The doorway into Zarnatagg. It is defended by 7 massive black gates, each with towers full of Goblin and Orc archers.

The Heavens: A paradise seperate from Erade. It is said, that the Heavens are a wide green land with mountains and rivers and forests, where every day the sun is shining and the weather is always clear and the temperature always perfect. The Gods dwell here, and only the greatest of heroes are given the honor of dwelling here with them. It is said that this land lies on an island somewhere out at sea.

The Void: This is a realm of utter shadow, it is said, that this is the place where Mezgal and his horde come from. It is another dimension, one that resembles Zarnatagg they say. There are some who even have gone so far as to say, Zarnatagg is a fraction of The Void, that some how broke into our world.

Races of Erade

Races of Good

Humans: These are the most common species of being in the world, they control most of the world except for the forests and the mountains, and things north of the White Mountains, which not only seperate north and south, but east and west as well.

High Elves: These are the most common version of the Elves. They have flawless tan skin, usually blond or brown hair and stand about 6 feet tall.

Wood Elves: Much more mysterious than the High Elves, they live deep in forests, in houses built high in the tree tops, most of their buildings glow with an erie bluish hue.

Dwarves: A very proud strong people, they are skilled at mining and things pertaining with minerals and the earth itself. They mostly live in great cities underground. They usually do not like to deal with the "Overlings" as they call them, and have had an untrusting relationship with the Elves for centuries, it is unclear why. They only stand about 4 to 4 and a half feet tall and have long brown beards. Finding a female Dwarf is a rare thing, which has led to some very silly myths about the species.

Halflings: These people would rather farm, drink, smoke, party, eat and enjoy life than fight. They live in a secluded land north west of Melindell, called Shanborough. They only stand about 3 to 4 feet tall.

Mages: These people look like aging humans, most of them males. Their origins are unknown, they simply appeared in the middle of the First War, as if sent from heaven. They have no kingdoms and are mostly wanderers. Each Mage wears a long robe and carries a staff pertaining to the type of magic they perfer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Races of Shadow
Goblins: The basis of the Armies of Mezgal. Humanoids with green skin, standing about the same height as Dwarves, but with longer limbs. They wear ragtag iron army, and speak in chitters and squeaks among other noises. They usually attack in swarms.
Orcs: The larger cousins of the Goblins. They stand 5 to 6 feet tall, have slightly more brownish skin than their smaller cousins. Their quite muscular and have potruding lower jaws. Their strength is in their arms, not their brains.
Ogres: Large beasts which resemble Orcs but about 12 to 13 feet tall with even larger lower jaws, and long muscular arms. Their knuckles can nearly touch the ground, they usually carry clubs, and only a few are in each group of Orcs at any given time.
Trolls: Even larger than the Ogres are the Trolls, and even stupider. They look exactly like Ogres, but they stand slightly more upright and are about 14 feet tall.
Dragonkin: These beasts are a rare mix of Dragon and Human or Elf blood, a disgusting experiment by Mezgal. They stand like Humans but are entirely Draconic in looks. Some less then others ((Lack of wings, merely claws and fangs etc...)), they retain all of the abilities of their reptile breathern.
Spidras: Centaurs, but instead of being half human half horse, these are half Dark Elf, half Giant Spider. Their upper bodies are of Dark Elves, while their lower halves are spider abdomens and such...Another sick experiment.
Dark Elves: Unlike their good hearted kin, the Dark Elves are foul tempered, evil versions. They show no compassion for any living creature, except other Dark Elves. They look exactly like High Elves but with grey skin.
Necromancers: These appeared right around the same time as the Mages. Unlike their counterparts, there are only 10 of these beings. They wear black robes with the hoods up, and have a pair of glowing red eyes looming from the darkness of their hoods. Their leader is the dreaded Death Lord.
