... the first post of my probably-not-gonna-get-used-much journal. It's a (very god damn long) comic piece/rant touching on the subject of stereotypes as found in Final Fantasy games. I'd have covered 4 and 5 also, but I only wanted to do games I'd completed, and that only extends to 6-10. ...no, I wasn't gonna put FFX-2 or FFXI in there even if I had 'completed' them. Those are insults/affronts/blasphemous what-have-yous to the series which no person who has ever liked a traditional Final Fantasy game should spend any time on.

Well, you're welcome to do so. But I feel it's about as wrong to make 'Final Fantasy Everquest' the 11th installment of the series as it is to consider Steel Battalion actually worth the exorbitant amount of money you have to pay to get it. Plus, I've always had serious issues with pretty much any kind of MMORPG. Just don't like the concept I guess.

How nice of everyone to completely ignore this. But don't mind me, I'm just grumpy because I was up for almost 24 hours (a chunk of that time spent working on this journal entry) and still haven't gotten enough sleep. Meh.

I read it. It makes sense. Though I enjoyed FF7. X3
Hated FF8, and enjoyed what little I played of FF9.

Guess people just didn't comment. I basically rank FF9 as the worst, FF7 the next up, then FF8, then FF10, then FF6. FF6 is head-and-shoulders above the rest of those, as can probably be told by the way I'm nicer to it than I am to the rest of the games.

Ember Darc You thought 9 was the worst? o.0 I didn't get that from your review. Well, I'm reviewing usage of stereotypes, not so much the game itself. FF7 seemed to get the worst rap because it so ingratiatingly sticks to the stereotypical character frames. As a gamer, I think 9 worse than 7; as a guy taking points off for overusage of stereotypes, I think 7 is the worst.

FF9, as I remember it, has no endearing characters whatsoever (endearing for good reasons, anyway), a completely and utterly nonsensical final boss, featured Steiner (I will hate that guy to the end of my days), and just was generally not as entertaining as the others. Draco Darkfire Is it just me, or do we have similar taste in RPG's? confused Well, if you put them in the same order I do, then I suppose we do have similar taste in RPGs. ^_^ Locke Trufeld From what I even remember of my past gaming experiences, such as back as FF6.. which was like.. probably 7 years ago, >P <-- (Played it in Japanese as soon as it came out.) I agree in those orders as well. Sorta surprised by so many "I hate FF8" people out there though. FF8 does sorta only do concentrate on Squall and Rinoa's relationship more than anything else though. .. Maybe that's why? I can understand why people hate FF8; though it wasn't as blatant as in FF9, the final boss here wasn't part of the game until the later parts of it. Other reasons probably stem from the incessant lovey-dovey stuff between Squall and Rinoa, the story's general lack of a real badass, the fact that every god damn character in the game has some relation to that stupid orphanage (though that might just be me), and the battle system's overt reliance on GFs. I still thought it was better than FF7 though xp SB992 Is it me, or is my taste in games different from everybody else? sad How are we supposed to answer this if you haven't stated your taste in games yet? confused
