I really feal bad for his wife though, 'cause she had to hear it from police because she wasn't there....

He was filming in the Great Barrier Reef and a sting ray stung him through the rib cage and into the heart. Even though the barb on the end of the tail is poisonous, most people don't die from being stung. The crew tried to perform CPR and called a helicopter, but he was dead before help could arrive.
EDIT: If you think this is a joke, try going to their website. My mom said it was down. And I just tried for myself. She's right.

crying crying crying omg that sucks... steve was such a crazy dude... but yet he was so nice... i will never forget him... its just not fair... i never thought he would bite the big one doing his job... i always thought he would die peacefully... crying crying crying dude.... my whole world is rocked now.... rawr... this is crap.....

If he was stung directly in the heart, then yeah. o.o
He would die.
The poison paralyzes the heart.
If he had been stung elsewhere, he would've been fine once help arrived.
