So recently I got a membership to a pinup website, I don't know how many people have heard of SG.
It's a website full of pin up photos of all sorts of girls who don't fit societies 'norms.' They start out clothed and go to completely naked, generally. I'm not going to post a link or the site/company name 'cause I'd hate to possibly break the pg-13 rule, but I believe it's becoming more mainstream (I actually heard about it years ago).
While a good amount of the girls are skinny white girls, they have all sorts of body types and tattoos and piercings. They don't all look the same and they actually have girls from various countries and nationalities. Some girls have no tattoos or piercings at all. As a fan of pinups, I absolutely love this site. They have had a few chubbier girls, but none that I would claim as fat.
My point is this: as an overweight girl, I've considered applying to model on the site. One of my best friends (who is teeny tiny and a completely different body type) applied and was rejected, but she is encouraging me to apply with her next time she goes for it. I'm seriously considering it, as I've gotten the impression a lot of what they look for is attitude (although I'm afraid any attitude I may have won't come off in photos, as my friend is lovely and I think she got rejected due to lack of attitude in her application). Despite the website saying that they are looking to make the site more diverse, and that you don't have to be a skinny girl, I think the one thing holding me back most (other than I imagine it difficult to pull off while under my mother's roof) is the fear of being rejected for my weight.
My question is, what would you do? Would you like to apply to a site like this (as long as you're 18 or older at the time), or are you completely against pinups and other sexual things (I see it more as art, although I don't deny it's not necessarly meant for art)? Would you like to see a site like this, that already claims to "redefine beauty"? And if you would, would you like to see more big girls shown on it? I won't lie and say there are no bigger girls, maybe even my size or a little smaller, but their figures tend to be more what I wish mine was (hourglass)... they're very lovely. I'm not sure if even bigger girls haven't made it for any reason other than one with enough attitude hasn't shown up yet, so maybe if I try it I'll show enough attitude and I'll make it. I'd really just like to hear what people think about it and stuff. Or just the way beauty is defined by society in general.
I really hope this fits into the pg-13 category sweatdrop It's late and I'm tired, but I just thought it'd be interesting to get people's thoughts.

I know a site very much like SuicideGirls but for plus sized females that does the whole rockabilly pin-up type thing. It's called DeadlyDames and since I'm not sure I can submit a link you could pm for the link if you'd like. It is a site I would consider after turning 18. 3nodding

Ahh I didn't know what they focused on on that site. I have a user called Suicide Girls on my myspace friendslist & saw some pics but never put 2 & 2 together. sweatdrop

I'm so shy about showing off my body, so I doubt I'd do it. If you want to do it, I say go for it, girlfriend. Be proud of who you are and inspire some fantasies!!! whee heart

@Fuzzy: I dunno, I searched for suicide boys once and found some....but I didn't look at 'em too long 'cause I was with my boyfriend and his buddy... and I didn't think they'd appreciate it sweatdrop

@Naito: They have a wicked ton of myspace pages, it seems. sweatdrop I've seen about three of them on my one friend's myspace friendslist alone.
@Kristinarr: I used to be really self-conscious about myself. I mean, I wouldn't hug people because I was so self conscious about people (even friends) hugging me and thinking I was fat. I wouldn't allow myself to be photographed and I hated shopping. Now I like hugs, but I'm still awkward at giving them because all my friends aren't used to it (though they don't say anything) and I love being photographed, even if later I hate the photo and I love getting new clothes 'cause now I dress the way I want to as opposed to hiding my body under ugly clothes and what my mom forces me to wear. Now if I get a new bra I try to get all my friends to check it out, I'm so excited about them sweatdrop I'm such an attention whore.

Yeah, I knew about SG, but not DD... I'm a member of a site called Vampirefreaks and in one of my guild type things a person posted an advertisement and info about it, because she was evidentally a cofounder. 3nodding
