On high alert that day, Inali gazed restlessly. For some reason, on this day, she itched to run, to do something /competitive/. Of late, her life had been so dull; no stallions to challenge her, and ultimately fail. How dull indeed! She felt stifled by not having anything to /do/. This was so dull, how could anyone stand it?

The red mare moved a bit further across the plains, wandering away from the forest and her home she shared with two other mares. Dull, dull, dull! Her silver eyes glazed over with boredom, as Inali lowered her head to graze. How perfectly boring life could be.

Above, in the expance of blue that created the sky, Tawali slowly circled, bored out of his brain. He hadn't seen many Soquili for a while, there had been something happening, and a lot of Soquili had disappeared to witness the event, and Tawali had been left up in the clouds. As per usual if he was honest really... Gazing down at the sparce woodland, a bright red streak could be seen stepping carefully through the trees, head down, grazing. Tawali's eyes lit up. What was Ever doing in this part of the lands? Looking around quickly to make sure this was as good a place to land as any, he snapped his wings closed and dove down, plummetting through the very sparce tree canopy and snapping them out again just before he landed, the force of the wind in his wings almost wrenching them from their sockets, though by now he believed they should be used to such punishment.

Taking off at a trot toward the red streak he had seen above, he spotted it again between the tree trunks, but there was something wrong. This mare was more of a bright red, and her mane and tail were silvery white rather then Ever's pale blond white. He frowned and edged closer, recognising the female as the one that had given him all the hassle before. Face falling, he hoped to sneak away, backing up, not realising behind there was a tree root sticking up. He caught his hind leg in the hump and toppled backward with a startled whinney, landing heavily on his rump. He cringed and tried to look back, his legs splayed and his tail braids mussed and spread out over the ground.

"Damn, bloody, stinking roots of the bloody tree!" He grumbled, heaving hismelf back onto his feet again, walking around in a circle trying to view the damage done to his hindquarters. Luckily the two feathers on his tail were ok, as were the braids, but there were numerous trigs and a sprinkling of dirt over his rump, as a pain that made his hindlegs want to hobble. He cast an eye to the red mare and gave a sheepish grin. "Hello again Inali."

Inali truly didn't feel any residual anger towards Tawali for the incident- indeed, she had raced him that very same day, and he had won. No complaints had been ushered- though it seemed they would tie, the wind stallion was indeed faster. She remembered that day with some degree of fondness- a stallion who could challenge her. He was worth a second look indeed.

As Inali watched him topple backward, she trotted over, peering at him curiously. "Silly," was all she said until he had rearranged himself and reinstated his dignity- what was left of it. "Hello again Tawail. What are you doing here today on such a nice day? I thought your kind enjoyed the sky."

Impulsively, she glanced at his hide, and licked the dirt off. He made her feel soft, for some reason, looking as coltish as he did right then. "Are you quite alright? That looked like that may have hurt some. Your pride, at least." She grinned, rather mischeviously.

"I do owe you an apology for my actions on that day.. since then, I have learned my own errors. Being rude has driven away too many others from me... perhaps we can start again?" She tilted her head slightly, hoping that he would forgive her. Why it mattered so much, she did not know... but he did look handsome in the light.

Tawali eyed the mare a little apprehensively, starting forward when she licked his hide, turning on her with a snort, expecting fowl play and circling round, trying to see what she had done. His cyan green eyes were still a little apprehensive when he came to realise she had simply helped brush off the dirt. He snorted again, this time a little more gemtly and relaxed a little.

"I'm fine, I'm fine, don't fuss! And I suppose I should apologise also." He muttered, though gave no more mention of it. He looked up to the tree canopy. It was sparse here and he could still see the blue sky over head, and feel the chill breeze whistling through the tree trunks. "All Wind must land at some time. We need to feed just as any other." He looked at her, a wicked grin passing over his features. "And play with other Soquili of course! Its part of the reason I'm here actually. I mistook you for one I have come to know quite well, one Ever Sacrafice. You probably do not know her though, she lives to the north in a white thing with a two-legger." He stuck his tongue out in a face and shook his head disapprovingly.

"What about you, what are you doing in these parts?" He eyed her again, shaking out his feathers, dust rising out of them, his tail and mane feathers also shaking with the movement.

"I'm sorry for fussing." Inali wasn't quite sure what had come over her at that moment- maternal instincts, or something more? Tawail was certainly not lacking in appearance, and he had a personality that could possibly match her own, something she had never seen before. "If you call that landing." Inali laughed at that- it had looked more like a sort of graceful falling, though she wasn't one to judge.

"I live with Ever Sacrafice and one other. It is said we could be sisters, though my coat is brighter." Inali failed to see the resemblance, but it mattered little to her. If others saw it, so be it. "The two-leggers have some uses. Getting stray dirt out, for instance." A mischevious look passed through her eyes, as she snorted lightly. "We don't always have a kind mare around." Oh yes, she was teasing him now.

"I am simply wandering... Looking for company. I am glad I could make amends. I like you. I see that you're a match for me, and I find myself respecting you." Again Inali shrugged her red shoulders, as if this statement she had just uttered was nothing large. But of course, for the prideful mare, it was. She had just admitted someone, a stallion no less, was her equal... Truly she must have liked him quite a bit, though she doubted the impact of the words would fully reach him. Tawail did not know her quite that well yet.
