I started learning Japanese before knowing about Miyavi but now it's like he's motivating me to study more! I want to know what he's singing about in his songs (though I translated myself parts of his lyrics), what he is saying in interviews..... Even Oresama. I watched the movie without subtitles and it was torture to watch with almost no idea of what they're speaking.. Anyway, I translated a small part of it for now...

I started learning Japanese a couple months ago. I love (roughly) translating Miyavi's lyrics. There are a whole bunch of lines in Itoshii Hito that I know without any help.
I know Hiragana, some katakana, and a lot of grammar and sayings in Japanese. Learning more every day.

I sit in my room for hours at a time, just reading Japanese. It really is my passion, so I don't get sick of it. I just always want to learn more and more. 3nodding

I'm learning japanise too, because of miyavi^_^ I have already learned the hiragana and katakana (katakana is actually harder to remember) and I know some of the kanji... just like 一,二,三,四,五,六,七,八。。。and so on... and I know some easy sentences... like: 私の名まえは"猫ちゃん"です (my name is ''neko-chan'') and I learned hiragana in 1 week... so you all can do it too, if you really want biggrin (It's true that peaople can do thing what they beleve and want to do. so If youre learning japanise, beleve that you can really learn it)

To all of you that think learning Japanese is hard: obviously it is going to be hard. You're learning another language, one that doesn't have a similar grammar and sentence system as English. On another note, I've been using Maktos to get a vague understanding of Japanese for about a year and a half now. I recently bought the Living Language basic Japanese course kit. I haven't gotten very far yet, but I highly recomend it! Use Maktos as an online guide if you don't want to dish out money to learn Japanese [the kit I got is $24.95 American and $34.95 Canadian, if any of you were wondering, but it comes with three CD's, a course book, a basic dictionary and a little pocket booklet with simple phrases].

I saw everyone saying it's hard...And I understand how it can be, of course. For some reason, I've been able to pick it up SO easily...I've never learned this much about a single topic in my entire life rofl I'm currently going through my dictionary, memorizing 5 words with their kanji/kana a day...its so much fun. heart
