[[I sooo suck at titles, but this is my first time, so whatever]]
Since he arrived a few days, Erik had been cooped at his duplex, occasionally going out to get a bite to eat, but now, cabin fever was starting to set in. Today, he decided to actually check out the place. His wandering eye eventually led to the Entertainment Room, where the rows of DVD's and games immediately caught his attention.
"Alright, let's see what we got here...no...nope...noo...what's with all the animal stuff?...oh, forget it." Just as he was about to turn around, "Jackpot!" They had all 9 volumes of MST3K, his favorite show, right there, well at least he won't bored now. After picking out an episode, he got himself nice and cozy on the couch, becoming totally oblivious to everything around him.

“…mother will die and I’ll get the money…”
Branwan was hanging out, she had decided that that was the best thing to do, after all, there wasn’t much else.
“…iments exactly…”
Her tail bone, and new tail, had just stopped hurting and she could now sit comfortably, she was celabrating.
“…you son of a b***h, I palindrome I…”
She was a little scary looking at the moment, her big toe had elongated so that it would not fit into any shoe.
“…snake head eating the head on the opposite side…”
Her middle and pointer finger had partly fused and her nails had grown in to what seemed like claws.
“…man oh man, man oh man…”
So she was lounging on a comfy chair, listening to TMBG on her iPod.
“…hanging from the clothes line…”
She was singing along softly, her eyes closed.
“…with the random zigzags…”
She opened her eyes when she heard Erik enter the room.
“…I palindrome I…”
She watched him rummage through the movies with out much interest.
“…snake head eating the head on the opposite side…”
She paused her iPod and pulled the ear-bits out as the movie started.
“Is that Mystery Science Theater?” She asked sitting up.

"Whuh-?" A little surprised, he almost jumped out of seat, "Sorry, didn't see you there."
Having forgotten to put in his contacts that day, his nearsightedness prevented him from discerning some of her odd features. For instance, he thought her odd, hardened feet were grey socks or shoes
"Yeah it is, you've seen it before?", he replied.

“Well, I’ve seen the show,” Branwan said, slipping her iPod into her picket, “which one is it? I might have seen it.”
She smiled and walked over to the couch and sat down, mistaking his casualness for knowledge and not nearsightedness. “So, how long have you been here?”

"It's Time Chasers, the one where Crow goes back in time, changes Mike's past, and screws up royal, you wanna' watch?" Suddenly, it struck him that he was starting to sound like a major nerd.
When Branwan, started walking over towards him, he started getting nervous. He'd never been good with girls before, and the little voice in his head was telling Erik, "Run dude, RUN, before it's too late!". But thankfully, Erik kept his cool, stayed where he was, and made some room for her next to him, but he was still a little nervous.
"Oh, I've been here for, I think, the better part of a week, what about you?"

“Sure,” said Branwan smiling, “I don’t think I’ve seen that one… what is the actual movie they’re watching?”
Branwan felt Erik’s nervousness, Why, she thought, are half the boys here as jumpy as a turkey on thanksgiving, she had barely said anything, did the few words she said make her come across as the worlds biggest freak? She got a little worried at that thought. She smiled at him again, trying to ease his nerves and hers.
“A month, and that’s too long.” Okay, she thought, a week, that's enough time for him to learn about the island, it supports my theory.

"They're watching Time Chasers.", he said, a bit of tone in his usually quiet voice. He didn't usually like to talk to people like that, so it made feel a bit more awkward, but her reassuring smile told him that she was just as nervous as he was and that he could relax.
"Oh, almost forgot, my name's Erik." With a smile he extended his hand to her.

“Do’h!” said Branwan, laughing, “I guess you said that, didn’t you?” Oops, she thought, that was stupid of me, I mean, he just said it! She felt herself blush slightly, “Nope, I definitely have not seen that one,” she said, covering up her embarrassment.
“Mine’s Branwan,” she said taking his hand with her deformed one and shaking it.

"Don't worry, it's alright.", he said, smiling. Seeing her blush told him that she was feeling exactly the same way he does when he goofs up. "You haven't seen it? Well it's a good one." Erik's always loved watching funny movies with other people, something about them laughing made him laugh and feel good.
The feel of her hand came as quite a shock to him. It felt sort of like his pet bearded dragon, Gilligan, all scaley dry. But, he didn't want to make a scene, since she was probably self-conscious about it, so he kept smiling, and played the movie.
Things went alright for the first ten minutes of the movie, but he did manage to notice her feet, which also came as a surprise. Soon he just couldn't ignore it any longer, he had to ask, "Hey, Branwan, I hate to ask, but...um...what's with your hands and feet?" Starting to get nervous again, he hoped to God that he didn't hurt her feelings. He felt like his blush was burned into his cheeks.

Branwan watched the movie, she had to admit, it was a good one, it made her laugh.
“Ummmmm…” She said, drawing out her um as she thought. Oh god, he dosen’t know! What am I going to tell him? That I am turning into some sort of animal freak and he will too? Oh god, this is horrible! What am I going to do, what am I going to do?
“It happened to me on the island.” She had to admit, it sounded kinda lame.

"Happened to you here? What do you mean, did you catch something, 'cause I got a shot when I came here, is it supposed to prevent that?" All these questions and more were swimming in Erik's head, he wanted answers and he wanted them now.

“Uhhhhh…” Said Branwan, a slightly look of panic crossing her face, “Well…”
Oh god, what am I going to do! She thought, she had some trouble lying about things like this. What do I say, ‘Oh, no, it’s the shot that causes it?’ no, them maybe, ‘Nope, the doctors were playing you for a fool! That’s not an immunization shot?’ no, Ah, I know-
“I don’t think the Shot protects against this,” she said, looking uncomfortably at her hands.

Started to feel paniced, the worried look on Branwan's face only confirmed that this was bad.
All kinds of horrifying ideas ran wild through his mind. "What if there's an epidemic of lepracy going around?", he thought.
"Then w-what does it do?" he said, terrified of the answer.

“Ah,” said Branwan, inwardly cringing, there was obviously no way of avoiding the truth now “Look, I hate to be the one to tell you,” god, she thought, you have no idea how true that is, “but,” she searched, to no avail, for a delicate way to say it, “the shot you got is actually part of a gene therapy project, it mixes your genes with those of an animal.”
She looked worriedly at him, unsure of how he would respond to this information.

The statement hit him like a ton of bricks. It took him a few moments to process all the information. He was desperately hoping that it was some cruel prank, sadly, it wasn't. "H-H-How is..How is that even possible?", he said, now trembling.
Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out his glasses ((even though he has contacts, he has glasses, just in case)). Putting them on, Branwan's animalistic features, as well as the severity and reality of the situation, become crystal clear. "Oh...my God...", he trailed off, not knowing what else to say or do. Suddenly, he could feel it, tears, his eyes were starting well up, while normally he'd try to hide those tears, now...nothing seemed to matter anymore.
