...aka, reunions suck mightily. Private RP for Morion and Purr-Purr, and any guests they might invite. heart
-----------------------------------------------
She's returned.
Somehow, those two words made more of a difference in Morion's life than anything he had heard since Britain had become his Guardian. He wasn't even certain where he had heard the news- all that mattered was that the lady who had haunted his dreams was coming home, and he had no idea what he should do about it.
Alone, he sat in the same park where he had met Britain and thought. The rock he sat upon was large enough that he was mostly hidden in the branches of a nearby tree, wings curled around him for comfort. Should he seek her out? Should he wait for her to find him? Should he move on- would she hate him? No thought was clear enough to make a decision, so he did the only thing he could think to do- he took a deep breath, resting his head in his arms and doing his best to stay calm.

Things had been so different since she came home. It only had only been a few days for her in Fae Realm, but months had passed since she ran away. So much changed. Gavin was growing up, Kamiki had moved in with Sabin. Kitsumai, her newest daughter seemed to be a virtual replacement for her. No, that was unfair, Kamiki would have never purposely tried to replace her.
Regardless, it looked like everyone tried to move on. She hadn't even been to Fa'e HQ. She passed it a few times, watching from afar as strange fa'e hustled in and out. No one looked the same. She recognized a few of them, but they had grown, changed. Of course, so had she. Would anyone even remember her there?
She certainly looked different. Her skin was still purple, her hair will red. But she was taller, fuller. Her innocent-like beauty was replaced by a very adult, sultry sexiness. Everything about the way she moved now looked deliberate, sexy. She knew it was because of the Nymph blood that ran in her veins. The blood that made her feel different on the inside.
She had spent the day wandering aimlessly around Barton Town. Now, she was on her way home, and as she approached Durem she lost all desire to go home. She just wasn't ready to face Kamiki again right now.
Taking a left, she headed into the part not too far from Sabin's manor. It was a nice day, perhaps a little fresh air away from the bustling city would do her good. She began to stride towards the lake, letting her long finger trace the bark of the trees as she walked by.

God!
There was absolutely no mistaking her for anyone else. Morion was on his feet in an instant, movements perfectly silent in his shock. She was so different, but he could never mistake Purr for anyone else- and what a lady she had become! Even she had grown, changed. He felt his own stability as a weakness, wincing at the feel of it even as he reached up to grab the branch over his head. Too thin, even now, his casual clothing made him wish he could just disappear. He didn't even have the right to wear the rapier- Sidhe felt so right in his hand, but compared to Mordath or Astaroth he was the barest newborn with a blade.
But I will be weaker still if I cannot face her now. This is an opportunity- I must take it as such.
"Obsessed by a fairy tale, we spend our lives searching for a magic door and a lost kingdom of peace," he quoted, his voice soft and resonant through the leaves. "I think, perhaps, that I have found the fairy tale- but forever locked the door."
((with thanks to Eugene O'Neill for the quote <3))

Purr froze. There was no mistaking that voice. Her heart skipped a few beats in her chest. Oh, god...
She spun around, her wings flaring up in surprise. There he was- exactly has she had seen him last. The flood of emotions pouring through her made her whole body shake.
Part of her wanted to slap him, kick him, strangle him. How DARE he even SPEAK to her after what he had done to her.
But her arms stayed frozen in place. Rush into his arms, or run away?
But no, she had promised never to completely give up on him. At least she had to hear what he had to say.
But what to say? Her throat suddenly felt scorchingly dry. Taking a deep swallow, "Morion?"
yes, a small stutter of his name was all she could manage. How eloquent.

Instinct took over. He certainly wasn't capabe of cohernet thought- this was the moment that had terrified him beyond all reason, keeping him awake long into the night. With a few graceful, quick movements that he could never have managed on purpose, he leapt from his rock. The movement had him landing on one knee before her, wings folding from where they had spread for balance; he grabbed her hand, holding it to his bowed head as his body shook. She was here! Standing here, not running, not screaming at him in hate- from here, he could survive. He would.
"My Lady," Morion managed, the sound half-choked. "I'm so sorry...so very sorry."

Oh no.... no no no no no....
Purr squeezed her eyes closed.
Morion, I've missed you so much! All I've been doing is wandering confused since I lost you...
Thats what she wanted to say, at least. But no, she wouldn't let him get off that easily. She couldn't handle another mistake. Her heart couldn't handle it. She was wrong about Mordath, she was wrong abuot Oberon. And Morion...he had already hurt her so much. Is that really all it was going to take for him to say and have her back in her arms.
Then a black cloud of suspicion rolled into her mind. She looked down over herself. The curve of her hip, her cleavage, her things peeking out the slits of her loose red sarong. What a blessing and a curse. She had seen the way men act around her now. She was grown up, no longer blissfully ignorant of the lengths some men would go to get close to her. Kamiki called them pheremones. Whatever they were called, Morion certainly wasn't going to use her like Oberon did.
"Sorry? You're SORRY? To you honestly think those words are susposed to mean ANYTHING to me? Your words are worthless, Morion! A promise means nothing to you."
((Yes, Purr is rather full of herself))

"In that, you are wrong, my Lady," he replied softly, going very still. He released her hand, but remained where he was, head bowed. There was anger in his rsponse, certainly, but it was tempered by cool thought. "Perhaps my words are worthless, perhaps I am no longer worthy of your trust- that, I will give you, and more. My word, however, means a great deal to me. Given time, I will work to prove that to you again."
He rose, snapping his wings backwards and folding them tightly. The tension in his thin frame was taut as a wire, making his movements more sudden than they needed to be, and his gold eyes were unsettled. "You have the right to be angry, Lady. More than anyone else in the world, you have that right- it is my duty to repent the sins I have committed against you, and find a way to regain the respect and loyalty I have ceased to earn."

"Morion - do you have any comprehension of the pain you put me through? I LOVED you. I threw away all my dreams of being a queen again... because I knew I could have been happy just being with you. Raising a family... that was my dream. I thought that's what I was reborn to DO. And you... you destroyed that."
The tears began to slip off her cheeks at this point, her wings still vibrating behind her.
"I'm just... I'm just so LOST..."

"Smoke is dead," Morion told her emotionlessly, fists clenched absently at his sides. His eyes were empty, still burned by the memory. "She is not, will never, be coming back. I cannot excuse the pain I have caused, but I promise you it took such a tragedy for my negligence to occur."
He never could stand up to her fractured emotions. One step forward had his hands tentatively on her shoulders, brushing her hair out of her face. "Shh," he whispered. "Look at how strong you have become, how regal...my beautiful Lady, you could never be lost. All you have to do is stand still, and the world will come to you, shouting with praise and following you into the darkest pits of hell."
((yes, he actually believes that. She's got HIM convinced, at least *snort*))

Purr's eyes widened in shock as he came towards her. Disgusted, she stepped back, pushing his hands off her.
"Oh that's bullshit, Morion. You think I'm strong? You have no idea who I am anymore. How dead I feel inside. 'Sining my praises?' I seem to know exactly what I am worth to most people - Oberon made sure of that for me."
She took a few deeps breaths, trying to even out her voice. "I tried.... so, so hard to help you when Smoke died. I begged you to take comfort in me. But you ran to everyone but me. You just... kept pushing me away."

"I ran to no one," Morion finally snapped, eyes flaring bright gold as his hand slashed through the air. "You say you were hurt, Purr, that you have been lost- can you even think of what it would feel like to lose Kamiki? Can you? Can you imagine the shaking, the terrifying collapse of your body that you have no control over, losing sight of everything you held dear, forgetting that life even exists in your attempt to deny?"
He was breathing hard now, truly angry for the first time in so long. He could feel the lightning tingling through his body, licking at his nerves and setting them on fire. "Perhaps your Oberon has used you, and I swear to you I will rip his throat open and lay him at your feet if he has, but it is still YOUR land, your people! I am proud of you, for becoming the lady you have. I am overjoyed that one of us managed to stay whole- but do not preach to me of pain. You have to potential to take anything you want, anything you crave, and yet all you can focus on is what you have lost."
...Sounds like a certain dragon I know.
A violent shake of his head sent the thought flying, and he lifted his head slowly, focusing every inch of his attention on her supple form. "I have missed you, needed you," he whispered, flicking his hair out of his eyes with one claw. "But I was not capable of taking what you had to give. Even toy soldiers can be broken, Lady."

"You ran to Raeith!!" she accused, anger flaring in her eyes. "I DO know what is like to lose someone. Losing Kamiki... if I lost Kamiki I would not take it upon myself to personallly destroy EVERYTHING ELSE important in my life!!
"Had Kamiki been killed in place of Smoke I wouldn't have survived UNLESS I had you to run, too! YOU were my life. I thouhgt I couldn't live without you. YOU... you.... what's hurts, MORION, is you obviously didn't feel the same way towards me. You said... " the tears came more powerfully now. "dammit, Morion... I WAS dying at some point, and instead of being by my side you were off kissing DAWNA!? Everytime I needed you, you haven't been there. Morion.. you haven't ever been there for me..." She was nothing short of sobbing now, burying her head in her hands, she shoulders racking with cries.

Every mistake he had made, every regret he had managed to conquer and move past, slapped him in the face like a physical blow. The strength he had found seemed so useless now...but then, what was he, if not the product of his mistakes?
"I would hold you now," he whispered, watching her from a bare step away. "I would wipe your tears away, find some way to make you smile- but I think you have lost all joy in me, Lady. You did not collapse without me. You moved on, went to another place- what happened with Oberon, my Lady? Do not lie to me and tell me it was something innocent. We have harmed each other enough, I think."
He took a deep breath, finding himself shaking slightly. "Purr...do you know that I have been terrified of this moment? I know that I was in the wrong, that my actions were contemptable. I have done my best to rebuild myself, to become something greater than that coward, but you alone have to power to send me crashing back to that crying child, desperate for anything at all to make things better. None of them did, Lady. Not a single one."
"Please," he said softly, forcing himself to look her in the eye. "Please. If I cannot make my Lady happy, at least give me the chance to make my most beloved friend in the world smile once more?"

She wanted to believe him. She wasn't to believe him so bad. It seemed her happiest moments in her life... Morion was there. She was only truly happy when she was with him.
But she couldn't. She couldn't just forgive him and let him back into her arms. He promised her he had changed... but what did that mean? He had promised her so much before.
She slowly sank to her knees on the soft grass, wiping the tears away from her face as she tried to calm herself down. "I thought... I thought Oberon would be dead by now. I don't know why I thought that.. I guess... its been so long for me... but I forget the fae are virtually ageless in their realm. I wasn't expecting to have to face him again."

The dragon leaned over to give her a gentle kiss on the forehead, brushing her hair back behind her ears and away from her face as his other hand produced a linen handkerchief. It was a brotherly gesture, but it was a start- even if they never regained to intensity they had possessed before, just being able to talk to her again made all of the difference in the world.
Folding his long legs under him, he sat next to her on the grass. A rarely-opened silver cigarette case appeared in his hands, turning over in his strong fingers absently. "I do understand. I hadn't thought about it, myself- I remember wishing him dead more times than I can count. Logically, it does not surprise me that he is alive...persnally, however, I could still wish otherwise. Perhaps you should see if Mordath's precious Astaroth wants something to kill?"
It was cynical, but there was a trace of amusement there as well. The thought of Astaroth didn't make him want to snarl anymore- how odd. Perhaps he was growing up, after all.
