Uzushi stretched out his body, eyes squeezing closed as he extended his legs and eased out the kinks in his growing form. Oh it did feel good to be stretching out all the weariness like that!
In fact today was his last planned day in the main pack den. For now that he was older Uzushi wanted a den for himself, further towards the outskirts of the packlands where he could watch the border for newcomers and for danger.
Apparently his seer powers were useful for telling such things.
With a shake of his head the growing wild dog got up and padded softly from his family's den to let the sunlight warm his dappled coat. He was a handsome fellow that was for sure!
"Well Kalpana, today is the day that we become independant!"
Independant dear one?
"Yep, everyone's been worried about danger lately and since I'm bigger now I decided I could help protect everyone, with your help that is."
I will always help you, Uzushi dear heart. In fact I believe if you pay more attention you'll notice your sister is awake too.
"Sis?" Uzushi shook himself and sat down, raising his head to give a short line of barks. If anyone had been sleeping nearby there would be no doubt that his greeting wouldn't have been missed.

The only girl in the "royal" litter was indeed awake and feeling somewhat cocky. She had been aware that her brother was awake but then siblings rarely interested her, why should they? They only one she was slightly interested in was Sayid as he being the eldest was probably the heir. She should rule.
Her ears pricked up as she heard her brother speak. She looked somewhat confused as she looked at him.
"Something wrong?"
She thought of most of her siblings as quiet and weak as they never seemed to be around, maybe it was more that she just always ignored them!

"Oh there you are! Hello sis! Are you going to be moving out tooooo?" Uzushi chirped, bouncing wildly before lowering his body so that his chest was pressed against the ground and rear end was left wiggling in the air.
He had a playful aura about him that most found attractive, though admittedly it annoyed the hell out of others.
His imaginary friend - who was also his connection to the seer powers - adored his friendly nature and used it to aid him in finding companions in others.
I don't think she want's to play, love.
Uzushi ignored the voice and continued, "nope nothing's wrong! Nothing at all! The sun is shining, the sky is blue and I'm hap-hap-happyyyy~!"

Twawa stared at her brother. Weirdo.
"Moving? Why would I? I have to make sure a decent dog Out of my brother things won't beat me to becommng heir. Moving out won't help me. Why are you going anyway? Surely you still need mother to show you how to walk..." She looked away from him as she spoke.
Her brother was completely insane! She knew there was one reason or another why she avoided this stupid family of hers!

Uzushi just gave his sister a rather stupid looking grin, mouth gaping, tongue lolling and eyes closed. He panted loudly in doggy laughter and for a moment seemed unsure what to say.
He was so different from his sister it was unbelievable! Though perhaps if he didn't have his seer powers he would have been less...naive.
"I'm not moving away, silly! Just moving out of the family den! It's getting crowded in there now that we're all bigger and I want to go live closer to the borders so I can watch for trouble." No one had given him this job but he had sort of decided that sentry position was his whether anyone agreed or not.
Kalpana gave a great sigh in his mind but he paid her no heed for now. "But why do you want to be heir anyway? You have to stay here all the time, take care of problems, sort everyone out. It's too much work! You'll never be free, you'll be trapped!"
Uzushi, I do not think she wants to hear that.
He cotninued to ignore Kalpana, "and why would mother need to show me how to walk? Am I not doing it right?" He paced a few steps one way and then back the other as a demonstration, paying careful note to watch what his paws were doing. Well they seemed to be okay!

Twawa tried her hardest not to loose her temper though it was hard, even if he was her brother.
"Shut up dimwit, you don't know anything. If you rule you have power, strength, your in charge you decide what happens, you can do whatever you want!" She held her temper, just.
She headed towards the entrance o the family den, why was she cursed with such a stupid family and born into the wrong position?

Uzushi was not one for reading the 'back off' signs. In fact he was the type of creature who would continue to n** at the snake's tail even after it had given it's hissing warning.
"But that's not true!" He said, watching as she headed off and moving to trot after her. "You can't do anything you want. Being a leader isn't about you, it's about the pack." Apparently he did have some sense in his brain. "You're not fit to be a leader because leaders shouldn't be selfish."
Uzushi! Came Kalpana's warning.
"Plus I'd be able to do anything I want because I don't have responsibilities." He seemed unaware that heckling his sister might lead to some bitter feelings towards him.

Twawa released her snarl as she turned to face her brother.
"Being leader is about one person as that one person makes the decisions that yes may involve everyone else but they can still do what they want." Her eyes narrowed as they looked at her brother, stupid thing.
"You have responsibility you idiot. Your part of the pack so you have to play your part. You know nothing you stupid fool!" She got into a position that had her body close to the ground, she called it her hunting position. She was going to teach her brother a lesson.

His ears flattened and his tail slowly moved to curl around one hind leg. It was quite clear he had only just realised his mistake - much to his inner voice's annoyance.
"No it isn't! Do you not watch pa? He's always talking to other members. Yes he might have the last say but he includes everyone." He bristled a little but was already taking a small step back. "If you take over the pack, members won't like it. They'll fight you! Your not even the eldest born! Why dont you just accept it?"
He took another step back.
Uzushi, shut up. You're making things worse. You'll get hurt, so for once, please listen to me! But unaware that the voice was his seer powers Uzushi simply gave a small whimper and gave his sister a 'puppy-eye' look.
"Twawa?"

She didn't need to say anything. Her brother was pathetic, weak and stupid and needed to be taught a lesson.
From the position she had got into she crawled forward a little before pouncing, snarling and ready for a fight.

He leapt back as she pounced forward, his movements skittish and nervous. He didn't want to turn and run, not from his own sister but he wasn't one for fighting.
"Stop it!" He sueaked, ears pinned back and eyes wide. "Your just annoyed that you're not fit to rule and taking it out on me." He whimpered, pawing lightly at the ground.
"Kalpana tells me not to say anything, to run away. She doesn't like you and neither do I." He never thought he'd hear himself say that but as he stared into her angered eyes he knew that though they were related in blood they were nothing alike.
It saddened him.
Uzushi, please. Run now. She will attack you and you will not fight back.
But he seemed not to hear her, his eyes transfixed on his short-tempered sibling.

She moved so she blocked the way out. He wasn't going anywhere.
"Making up friends now are we brother? Guess what? I HATE you and our pathetic family. You are all so stupid, you know nothing. You just you are the most stupid and idiotic dog I have ever known and I find it insulting that I have to be related to you. Its sick." She continued to snarl, after all he couldn't go anywhere.

He cowered down a little, legs trembling slightly. There was no way he'd ever set fang upon his sister, not in a million years. Okay so they didn't see eye to eye but he still loved her dearly.
It made him sad that they couldn't get along.
Life has it's many ups and downs dear heart, you will meet those who are friends for life and you willl meet those who are not. Maybe one day your sister will come to realise you did not mean her harm...
Uzushi whimpered in reply to Kalpana's reply, cowering still lower.
"Kalpana is not make believe and she is smarter than you'll ever be." Uzushi retorted, apparently more able to stand up for his seer than for himself. "If you hate us all so much why do you wish to stay here and lead us? You know father will never give you the position."
He knew he was trapped but he didn't seem to care - for the moment anyway. "I don't hate you Twawa, I pity you who does not see. I pity you who knows nothing about love and loyalty."

"Father is blind, he adores me. Stupid thing." She ignored the part about the make believe friend. Stupid brother!
"I want to lead because I have then the power that I need, that I long for, you wait, I will get it somehow." She smirked a little and then laughed.
"Love is for the weak, the ones who would die for someone else, the ones who need someone else to be complete, like you need your imaginary friend. I dont need anyone." She continued to smirk, feeling quite happy with herself.

"And what will you do, dearest sister, when you find yourself all alone trying to make the pack follow your orders?" Uzushi said sadly, for once making sense. "They will turn on you because they will not follow a ruler who cares only for herself. To lead others you must have a heart and you...you don't have one."
He smiled sadly, "you need all the love you can get so I offer you mine."
He took a step forward, trying to move past her, and heard only faintly Kalpana's warning.
Don't! Don't get too close. Your words will only make her angry. Would you like it if someone told you that no one would respect you?
Uzushi halted but had his approach already been a mistake?
