If the images accompanying the story are normal for the comics . . . then I just might subscribe! The artwork alone is impressive!

The first image you see of Optimus Prime and Spike Witwicky is by E. J. Su, and was published in the art book Genesis: The Art of Transformers. The same artist was also responsible for the accompanying images, however these come from Transformers: The Ultimate Guide. But, of course, Mr. Su is named in the article in question, so this is no major revelation. Can't say that I was personally such a fan of the artwork presented in volume #2 of G.I.Joe vs. Transformers by Devil's Due, but we'll wait and see what will come of this new franchise. But I've never even heard of IDW...! It is good to see that the eminent Mr. Simon Furman will again be at the helm, however. I look forward to October.

There are no text and inside also have some artwork from different people (fan art?) for example the art done by Dan Khanna. It comes with stickers and a CD but the version I have is the soft cover from Beijing. The Ultimate guide is packed with information similar to the More Than Meets The Eyes comic encyclopedia that DW made. It has a lot on Beast Wars and the complete recap of the evolution from comics and tv series. But they only focus on the North America productions nothing from over seas hehe 3nodding

Hi Bob/Recca,
Ah, IDW is a nice independent company, and they've been around for some time. Well, at least we don't have to worry about Pat Lee and Dreamwave getting its hands on the Transformers license for awhile anyway.
Sonia wink

A little off-topic, but can you believe I've never actually read a TF comic?... Yup.... Crazy...
I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a copy of that encyclopedia though...

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a copy of that encyclopedia though... Yes that encyc I was talking about is the DW 6 issue of MTMTE. They came out with the TPB for the issues (I have them as well sweatdrop ). I think you can't find those now unless you go on Ebay. I checked at my comic store and they have nothing DW TF anymore, except from the first G1 series but that is only cuz no one brought it.

I don't know about this new series. If IDW really wanted to have their own take on Transformers, why did they bother getting Simon Furman? They're just going to get the same old from him. I personally am getting tired of his robot god worshipping stories. I liked his old stuff which was more character oriented.

I'm still a bit curious on his take of the Beast Wars though. I mean I know he wrote many of the last eps, but I'd like to see his comic stories for em.

If it means that we'll see the conclusion of "Age of Wrath", then so be it... but once issue six has found itself into my possession, the bothers Lee can kindly get stuffed, as far as I'm personally concerned.
