I think someone already started a thread like this that I musta missed and plus I'm not sure where's the best place to put this since this isn't really a serious thread xd . I even considered the 'other conversations' thread, but anywho.
Have you ever stereotyped yourself, meaning even though you're homosexual you expected other homos to be more...well...stereotypical??
I KNOW THIS SOUNDS VERY STUPID BUT I'M JUST CURIOUS!!
I'm a lesbian, and I'm very girly so guys hit on me alot. It's always very shocking when I tell people which way I swing. But I realize I'D probably be in disbelief too. Like, @ work there was this new girl Liz, and I was talking to my gay-guy friend about her, and (lol) he goes "she's bi" n i'm like "no she's not, she doesn't seem it. she's like, too pretty (and she IS very pretty. she's training to be a model)" and afterwards when i'm cleaning the tables i hear him whisper to her "she thinks you're hot" so I just hurry up real quick and walk over like "DID I MISS ANYTHING? stressed mrgreen ??" But NEwayz, where I was going with that was, I was having a discussion with Liz and this other girl i work with and she goes, "Liz, is it true you're bi?" and Liz laughed and said "no" and she just said she had a girlfriend so guys wouldn't hit on her, and she knew my gay friend had been telling people that. N I'm just like "yeah, he told ME that *averts eyes...*" lol N the other girl just goes "yeah, i didn't think you were. you're too pretty to be gay (apparently completely oblivious to my gay-o vibes)." Me- * continues wiping countertops with averted eyes*
But yeah, the point of that story was, I wasn't @ all shocked to hear Liz was straight cuz of how pretty she is, and I know this makes NO SENSE becuz I'M a lesbian and I'M pretty (not to brag, lol) but whenever I see some girl on TV or something and the character's gay, I'm like "psh, as if" cuz I really don't expect to see any pretty gay girls.
I KNOW! IT MAKES NO SENSE! Logically, I KNOW, that lesbians can be tall, short, black, white, pretty or not-so pretty, but it's hard for me to imagine actually meeting a pretty one. I'm not saying this becuz I'm like "ohnoez, mygirlfriendisn'tgonnabehawt" i'm saying this cuz I'm stereotyping MY OWN KIND AND IT'S FREAKIN ME OUT!!!1
So yeah. Disuss. lol

I must say tho, that I never stereotype gay men. What with all the excellent media coverage (thank goodness for that) with stuff like BrokeBack Mountain, Queer As Folk, and of course Yaoi- it's actually alot easier for me to picture a gay man as masculine as opposed to the stereotypical fashion-designer-wopsy you're used to. >Sasunaru<My opinion of "masculinity" personafied right here- BRIAN KINNEY! >Queer As Folk<

o.o I think that I imagine homosexuals based on actions/personality than their looks... although, I CAN admit that I've noticed a few gay/lesbian people because of their appearance. =/

But generally I don't think "That person can't be gay" I don't often base people on how they appear either, and I'll only assume people are gay or straight becuz they flat-out tell me they are, so this whole thing is just silly when I really think about it. I guess it's just easier to assume everyone's straight tho. I just felt like sharing my temporary weirdness sweatdrop ^_^;;.

I stereotyped this gay guy I met at a Kmart. His voice was femme and he really reminded me of a good friend of mine. I thought "I wonder if he's gay.." and then later on he actually commented me on my rainbow bracelet. It made me happy since I dont meet many gay people here. whee

I don't stereotype anyone. I assume everyone is either asexual or bisexual until I figure it out. But I act like I'm assuming they're straight half the time, and then act likeI think they're gay the other half, but really it's me saying 'WTF R O?!!1111!!ONE!'
I dunno what is wrong with me tonight.... I'm ******** out of it. Too much sugar, food, and activity today at an amusement park with my significant other and her family and cousinzzzzZZZZZzZZz. i'm ******** exhausted though.
What the ******** is that 'you got 3 gold for surfing' s**t? Wow, so apparently they think we can't count now, is that it? ******** Gaia Admins. <********> Gaia Admins... L0cke and 'Tilt Mode'... hehehehehe...

Coming from a straight guy, I can't do it gay to gay*, but I know I've still had the thought about others nonetheless.
*Your poll is biased against us straight folk by not having an option we can choose. You gay people are always trying to keep us straighties down. xp
