i'm not really sure what's happened. it might be that they're just trying to cater to their audience, which may be predominately male.

g4 is an extremely struggling channel since its suppossed to be a "game only" channel. i mean there are only so many shows you can have about it. cheat(cheat show. duh!!),x-play(review show), AOTS(daily news show), electric playground(preview show), and icons(history of video games). you could make the point of arena. but others are pointless since there not big hits and already have a better show.
now sadly i think there doing what mtv did in the early nineties. during the 80's when mtv came out it was nothing but music videos. now its nothing but shows that would cater to mtv's demographic(i.e. high school teenagers, college students, and middle schoolers). g4 having sooo much space since you can only show replays of cheat sooo many times before you can quot every word dianne mizota is about to say(which i can do sadly!) as well as x-play. you can show an episode of ep after the majority of its new games come out.
so you have to look for filler. shows like star trek you can make a good point to. but the man show isnt a bad show, i just never watch it. there adding arrested development which is a decent show. there midnight spank is really pointless and i would rather see them go back to the late night block of anime!!!!!!
and ohhhh yeah lets not forget braniac!!!!! youve gotta love the mix of poinless science and british humour!!!! that shows makes me wanna piss in my pants every time i watch it!

b/c 1)thers a huge trekie following and it would be unwise for them to show it late at night. there ratings are much better for that show and overal with it there it helps promote there other shows like AOTS and X-Play allowing more people to see there shows and watch them. and 2)fastlane is just a kick-a** show!!!!LOL! plus it really ties in to the whole "good cop, Bad cop" and import tuner scene that is blowing up alongside video games today. the reason they have all these shows is marketablity.

G4 and Tech TV merged together, and X-Play got Morgan Webb.
Since then all of the shows have gone downhill, there is no hope left for that network...
I stopped watching it a few months ago so I don't know any of the things that have been going on more recently.

Instead of all those other shows like star trek and all that that don't relate to video games at all they could show more anime and invent like video game game shows or something.

the reasion that G4 is going down hill because all the shity shows are on now and the only people who watch G4 is people who have digital cable and satilet and people who have cable only get it if it's on the listing and it's probley wont be for a million years.second is that only gamers and si-fi geeks watch it now and now they have midnight spank and it all so has shity show ( becieds happy tree friends) and they bought the rights to have the man show from comidy central witch only the pimps and gay guys watch.third is that the only good shows that G4 still has is X-Play, Attack of the Show,Cheat< and eletric playground. and icons on speashal ocations and thats pritty much it the rest the bought from other staitons. and thats all i have to say 3nodding
