Hello, and welcome to Poisey's concept thread for The Island of Doctor Moreau. Please feel free to leave any comments you like whether good or bad. Please note that the concept Jeremy Raimes is the creative property of Chibi Hige, and that I've been given permission by him to use the character for a quest.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 29, 2006 7:55 am

Character Name: Jeremy Raimes

Age: 28

Height: 5 ' 6 "

Weight: 180 lbs

Eyes: Blue

Hair: Short dark brown hair, some what spiky

Occupation: Feral Labs Island Project Security Guard

Likes: Training, endurance, Moreau, movies, cooking, hunting, belonging to something important, women in uniform/lab coats

Dislikes: Sabin, betrayal, non efficiency, slackers, most of the other guards

Character Appearance (Human): Jeremy has a well built body, keeping the same training he used in his military background each morning. His earth brown hair is cut short, classic back and sides’ style, with the bulk on his head tending to spike up. He has a bronzed tan skin from spending a lot of time in the sun. He likes to keep a clean-shaven face, but his thick facial hair makes it look as if he has a five o’clock shadow. On his left shoulder he has a tattoo of a rose with the stem twisting around his arm, as if growing around it. It slowly turns into barbed wire and ends at his elbow.

Character Personality: Jeremy is a take no crap kind of guy. When he’s asked to do a job, he’s on it with the best of his abilities. He has a fun side, he enjoys watching films and going out, it’s the side he shows to the few friends he makes. He’s definitely someone who likes the thrill of the chase and the hunt. He’s also very loyal and dedicated; it’s a virtue he holds in high regard.

Character Background: Jeremy was born to a Texan and his Mexican wife in 1978, the second boy they had given birth to. He grew up in a healthy family environment, going to sports games and hunting with his father, even having a healthy relationship with his older brother. Jeremy graduated from high school with some okay grades, nothing that would land him great opportunity in a scholarship, and something he needed to enter college. Taking the opportunity to get some of his education paid for, Jeremy joined the armed forces and became a ranger, taking to military life like a fish to water. His superiors held him in high regard for his determination and loyalty. When the attacks on the 11th of September happened, Jeremy was shipped with the many others to Iraq. In this time, Jeremy became a heavy-duty soldier, taking and saving lives. It was when he was securing a portable base of operations that trouble happened. A car approached the area and Jeremy was ordered to fire at it. Jeremy fired at the vehicle, and when it failed to stop, Jeremy was ordered to destroy it. Jeremy fired a rocket at the car and exploded it across the block. Inspecting what was left of the vehicle, they found the bodies of two American’s, who were gagged and tied to the seats, their passports still on them. Jeremy and his superior where court marshalled and even though he could have gotten a lesser sentence by pointing the finger, he kept quiet. He spent eight months of his sentence before he was let out of prison for unknown reasons.

How does your Character get to/why was your character chosen for the Island? :
Easy enough, Jeremy is hired by Feral Labs to join the security force for the Island. He was approached by a representative of Feral Labs while in jail who offered him some a high paying job and his freedom if he took it. Jeremy is the character who ends up looking after Chubbs while he was in a feral state. ( Again, Jeremy is the creative property of Chibi Hige). He will be asked to volunteer for the Soldier Project because of his good record with Moreau, his loyalty, and his physical form. Jeremy will continue to work for Moreau as a spy amongst the subjects, taking records and acting like a kidnapped victim, in return gaining a pay increase and an antidote. Jeremy of course takes the offer.

What Serum do you want? : Super Soldier Serum (To be explained a little below)

Describe your ideal 100% appearance: This will be difficult, as even I will not know exactly will be placed into the serum. This is something I’ve discussed with the Island staff. The serum will be a combination of animal traits, rather than the full change that has happened to most subjects, so Jeremy will appear a little more human than most. Hypothetical changes to him would be for example: eagle like eyes, snake tongue for heat sensory, rhino like hide for body armour, mongoose muscle capacity for reflexes, octopus skin for camouflage etc

Why this animal/plant for your character? : The idea of a better human has been the subject of many movies and stories, be it mutation in comics or evolution itself. Using Moreau’s abilities, he can work on creating almost the next stage of evolution with a better human, one that is stronger, faster, can see at night etc.

What do you think really makes this concept? :
The idea of a mystery serum is not new but the concept behind Jeremy is. He will be the pinnacle of the combination serums, why all the testing was done. He will be different from most, still keeping a bulk of his human appearance and little in the way of huge changes. It would be fun to see also a character whose not known to actually be on the staff integrate with the other subjects. He is also an existing NPC on the Island.

Character Name: Michael Angelus aka Mr. Red

Age: 42

Height: 6 ' 1 "

Weight: 190 lbs

Eyes: Blue

Hair: Shoulder length jet black with a grey streak

Occupation: Broker, Business Owner, Ex -Hitman

Likes: Power, good appearances, tidyness, winning, control, intelligence, wealth, reading

Dislikes: Stupidity, people getting in his way, rudeness, people lower than him, poverty, emotional outbursts

Character Appearance (Human): Michael is an older figure, the effects of time beginning its stages on his body, yet he keeps it well toned and conditioned. He a tall gentleman at a little over six feet tall and has an athletic muscular build with broad shoulders. His jet black hair is usually held in a ponytail that reaches just the upper part of his back with a grey streak running over the right side. He wears a complete moustache and goatee that is well trimmed and is the same colour as his hair and bushy eyebrows. He dresses in the finest of business attire, obsessed with keeping a good image. Michael carries with him a pair of black shaded sunglasses with him almost always, covering his bright blue eyes as well as a hard black leather briefcase held tightly in his grip. He almost always wears a stern look on his face.

Character Personality: Michael oozes confidence and calmness about him, in most given situations, he reacts without a large display of emotion and it is often hard to provoke one, and makes him appear very cold. Michael is a loner figure, he keeps almost no friends or relationships, distancing himself from them and focusing on himself and his tasks. He is meticulous about his appearance and does not wish it tainted, he will take great care in his grooming and health and body to the point that if you were to ruin any of them would provoke retaliation. Michael’s past sees him with out fear of death or violence or retribution, he will react as he sees fit, whether it hurts anyone in the process. This will often include him non-withholding comments to someone that would cause them to get angry. He is determined, and will do what he has to get what he wants.

Character Background: Michael was the son of a Russian musician and an American female groupie follower who gave him up for adoption at St. Joseph's Home for Children in 1964 at Pittsburgh. Michael was given his name by the mother superior after the Archangel Michael, angel of death. He was a quiet boy who felt ill will towards the parents that had abandoned him in a place he believed to be a cesspool of rejects. He was found to be very intelligent, getting almost perfect grades with little more than a once over of his books. He didn’t follow the beliefs of the church, although he turned up at prayer time and confession, he never spoke a word at either event. Children rarely associated with him, this soon turned to down right separation. That time soon happened when Michael saw the home’s larger older child, prone to bullying the younger ones, in the process of beating on a younger orphan. Michael took a large wooden cross from the church and broke it over the older child’s head. When the bullied boy went to thank Michael with affection, Michael hit him in the face and stated “ I didn’t do it for you”.

Michael found no parents wishing to adopt him, and continued to live in the home until 1976 when he grew tired of being on the low rung on the ladder of society and left. He found small jobs that got him some money to eat, and used free or no housing to live in while he saved his money. He eventually got a steady job at the age of sixteen as a kitchen hand in a diner in Philadelphia, earning enough to afford residency. The owner of the diner, though weary of Michael’s disassociation from the staff, did enjoy his promptness and dedication. One day it became noticeable to Michael that there were often two gentlemen collecting money from his employer; these were members of an organised crime syndicate. Michael saw an opportunity to progress forward and up from his current status and when the two men warned the owner of the diner to pay up soon or his diner would have “accidents”, Michael approached the pair. He stated that not only could he get the owner to pay on time, but could get the money there and then. All that he asked for in return was to join their organization. Filled with humour, they allowed the young boy to attempt the task. Michael returned to them five minutes later with five hundred dollars in cash and the severed pinkie finger of the diner owner.

Michael became part of the crime family, and worked his way up from doing small errands, to collecting and thuggery. The head of the syndicate was impressed with how everyone paid when Michael collected. Michael in the mean time was getting paid well, but continued to save his money and learned and watched the business of the family. At the age of twenty-one, Michael came to the conclusion that he could do a lot better, by getting into his own business. He left one day, with no warning, to begin studies in business and economics at a college. His sudden disappearance displeased he head of the syndicate and Michael was visited by members, explaining to him “ No one leaves the family”. Michael said he understood and told them he would return shortly. The following day he returned to the city, the day after, the newspaper headlines read “ Crime Family Massacred”.

Michael was visited three weeks later by who he recognised as a rival syndicate to the one he worked for, who asked if he was responsible for the killings. Michael clued them in but never admitted it openly. The rival leader left Michael a gift of ten thousand dollars and offered him more work of a similar fashion. Michael only stated, “ When you need me, I will contact you”. It was then that Michael became a hit man for hire, seeing a chance to reach his goals and uplift his status. He worked for not only the rival group, but others such as the yakuza, mafia and individuals that needed a problem solved. He even took international jobs as well, and through that learnt four languages and developed a taste for the eastern culture. Michael did this for fourteen years, using the contact name “ Mr. Red” instead of his real name. Mr. Red became synonymous with certain death; what ever it took he never botched a job. In 1999, with a mass accumulated wealth, Michael retired his gun and started up his own business on Wall Street in New York, his goal for a long time. Through it he made a stock brokerage, Angelus Inc and began making millions on the stock exchange, seeming to predict the rise and fall of the stocks before it happened. Behind the scenes though, Michael manipulated the market, using intimidation and blackmail, even sometimes removing someone that stood between him and his climb of power. Michael then branched out into other businesses such as oil, automotive and technology. He was labelled a prince of Wall Street and acted like it too, grooming himself handsomely and working out using tai chi and judo as well as training his mansion’s personal gym. Michael was actually happy, climbing his way out of the filth of the world to the top, and nothing was going to drag him down again….. or was there?

How does your Character get to/why was your character chosen for the Island? Michael decided to branch into pharmaceuticals, predicting an increase in the capability of modern medicine to effect today’s illnesses. He set his sights on two companies, both happen to be a part of Feral Labs. Using his usual abrupt methods of business and threatening to take over both companies, Moreau had no other choice but to fight fire with fire, and it was him that made Michael disappear first.

What Serum do you want?: Doberman Pinscher

Describe your ideal 100% appearance: Michael will have the black fur of a Doberman, coating his body with the usual brown fur patches that come with the breed. His head will change to the style of a Doberman’s, and his eyes will go from blue to a dark amber/red. He will become a little less bulky and more streamlined, still muscular though. His middle will thin out around the waist. Around 50% he will likely ask the labs for two operations, one to have his tail “docked” and his ears cropped. This will mean by 100% his dog like ears will stand straight upright and he will have no tail, or rather a nub where it was. He will have grown claws that would not be very large, and will appear manicured. Michael will still have his human hair, with the grey streak, kept well kempt, as even through the changes on the island, he will still desire to look his best. Michael will also continue to wear clothing as best quality as he can get somewhat tailored to fit the canine shape of his legs.

Why this animal/plant for your character?: When I think of Michael, the character just screams Doberman. With this dog breed, most of the time you see it looks handsome and bold. It is used as in films and advertising as an image of the upper class and power, and also fears. I’d like to think Moreau chose the animal for Michael, for even in the situation Michael placed himself into, Moreau respected the man enough to use a serum that would almost be an honour to Michael.

What do you think really makes this concept?

I like this concept, as Michael is a dangerous man before he gets on the island, and yet no one would notice this from a forty-year-old millionaire. Where other characters become more deadly and dangerous and act on primal instincts through change, Michael would probably be the calmest person on the island, taking each situation in stride and dealing with it. Michael is a character with confidence and good mannerisms, and would likely be the only islander to continue to live his life the exact way he has for the last few years bar the fineries of his previous life.
