Koin shook his fur and blinked up at the sky. It was about mid day. Squinting his eyes at the sunlight, he padded foreward boredly, making sure he could find his way back to the spot he was before.

He closed his eyes and let the light breeze lift his spirited, he smiled and leaned towards the wind.

Jaden yawned and stretched. As soon as the movement concluded, he retracted back in slight surprise, his bright blue eyes fluttering open. There was a throbbing feeling in his upper shoulder, and he tried his best to ignore it. But even as he tried- his body was shifting, and the bone grinded against the wood bark of the tree he had called his bed for the night. “Grargh-“ The red creature spoke, eyeing the offending shoulder bitterly.

He couldn’t remember how he’d wounded it, but he was sure that he’d make up something heroic to impress the next lady that came around. That alone made a frown cross about his lips. Egads- where were all the women? It was his fifth week on his own, and he’d scarcely ran into males, let alone hot and attractive females. What kind of world was this?

With a yawn, the red male pulled himself up, ignoring the dull throb as it curled across his back. He needed some rest- real rest. But he certainly wasn’t getting any in this tree.

Jaden dropped down to the hot earth, and slowly took a few lounging steps out across a series of bushes. But within moments- a blur of white caught him off. With a bounce of surprise, the leopard jumped backwards, just as a flash of wild dog ran by.

“Hey, friend- watch where you’re going now!”

Koins ears flicked.

Something is talking besides the wind? he questioned himself.

Turning he spotted a leopard. He wasn't one quick to judge.
"Sorry. Guess I wasn't looking..." he replied.

He eyed the shoulder would, but didn't say anything about it. "What brings you here...?"

“Here-?” The leopard remarked, and glanced around. “Absolutely nothing, but I may ask you- you seem to know where the place to be is, eh? No need to be running around friend, nothing is worth rushing.” The lazy creature moved backwards, pulling his back upwards and working out the stretch. The sore muscle panged irritably, but it felt like it was slowly abating.

“I am Jaden.” He spoke, the H sound rolling off of his tongue in place of the J. “And you, Fleet Foot?”

"I don't really know where here is. I just am," he responded. His ear flicked lightly. His words sounded a bit spiteful to his ear and he flinched lightly at that. He wasn't spiteful.

Fleet Foot... What an odd nickname... he thought.

"I'm Koin..." he said.

Jaden paused for a moment, reflecting on the wild dog’s sentiment. He certainly had sounded a little bitter, although by the expression he made afterwards, Jaden deduced it probably had been on accident. “Well, Koin- it’s good to be meeting you, eh?” He spoke, and stolled up a bit closer to get a better look at him. Jaden was a leopard with very few physical boundaries.

“So you’re just gallivanting around? No place to go?”

He nodded, not being much of a talker. He didn't really mind anyone being close to him.

"Basically," he replied. "I follow the wind... What about you. You seem to have no place to be..." he said.

“Wind is fickle, it changes directions. I guess you move around more then most.” Jaden reflected. “Me?” A grin crossed about his blunt red snout. “A pity you need to ask! I am wherever the ladies are, of course. And- maybe where food is too.” Actually- more food now then ladies, and it was somewhat disgruntling.

"Thats how the wind works," he replied. "Ladies? I haven't seen a female leapord around here. Naybe I can help you with food though, if you need any," he said, chuckling lightly.

Jaden chuckled. “Leopards? A lolly fellow like me has more then enough attention for any type of lady. Doesn’t even need to be feline.” He remarked with a long stretch. It pained his shoulder, but he made attempts not to show it. “But, that’s just what I’d like. I suppose I should be happy with the food.” But he wasn’t, not really.

“Not too many wilds would offer a thing like that, friend.” He purred. “But, none-the-less; I don’t believe I need any food at the moment, although I appreciate the idea.”

Koin nodded lightly. What an odd leapord. "Might I ask what happened to your shoulder?" Koin asked. He had been dodging the question.

"I'm different." he said. He'd been told before, and he was, very different.

Jaden chuckled faintly, and glanced at it. “Oh- this? I didn’t even realize it had made a scratch-“ he had, actually. But he had made efforts to ignore it. “...Actually, it’s a rather long story. I wouldn’t want to bore a quick moving fellow like yourself with it.” The leopard smugly grinned, already trying to fabricate the best sounding story in his head. “Although it was rather daring–“

In all actuality- he had fallen out of the tree, and directly onto a sharp piece of wood. One might not have considered how much damage a fallen branch could cause- but the wood pierced right through his arm, and had left one hell of a splinter for him to dislodge. It was lucky enough that it hadn’t gone in too far or sliced the muscle to a point where it made walking hard. At the moment it was somewhat red and swollen, but it was healing well due to the constant nursing of the leopard’s tongue.

But- in Jaden’s mind, he could imagine up a much more clever story to tell.

"Oh?" he said. "Barely a scratch?" Koinchuckled a little. "What have you done that is so daring?" he asked.

“Oh, my-“ Jaden remarked, pulling back his head with a rather self satisfied grin. But for as obnoxious as he was- there was something somewhat harmless about him; although that wasn’t to say he wouldn’t have agitated many a creature. “Well of course you know, it was quite a feat.”

“There was a cheetah with four cubs, and they were trying to cross the mouth of the river just a few miles north of here. But after it rains the water tends to swell. [But, you probably know that!] And on that particular day it was pouring down globs of water upon my head, and I decided that I would go for a nap in this particular tree. So I was sleeping up on the tree, when all of a sudden there was this screaming. You know, really loud kind- well, it woke me right up! And there was the cheetah; and she had her cubs all over her. One was in her mouth, and the other two were on her back. So I jumped down off the tree, and ran to the water’s edge-“

”Oh- wait, I said two cubs on her back? There were three, I mean. No- the other one...” he fumbled, pondering. “It was grabbing onto her thigh. So, I go over there, and it’s pouring rain, and the lady goes- ‘Oh no! Help us!’” His falsetto was eerily good.

“And I was like- of course I’ll help you!” By now, he was obviously getting into the whole story. “So, I dove into the water and swam over to them- but then, one of the cubs [the last one I forgot, remember?] suddenly fell off, and started to float downstream. So I swam after it! And then, when I had finally caught up with the little girl, we swam back, and I put them all on my back, and I carried them to safety.”

Ah! There. Pure gold. Only- a clever creature might have noted that this story had absolutely nothing to do with the wound on his shoulder.

"Yeah..." Kaio said. "So where in that whole thing did you get this wound on your shoulder?" Koin said. Then another question popped into his mind. "And why would a mother of 3... I mean 4 try to cross a river while its raining?"
