She stirred from her sleep and opened her bleary eyes, turning to glance at Zenoni who lay beside her. He was bigger than her now, quite a lot bigger and his mane was thick and full. Both of them had come so far since they had first been enslaved as juveniles.
They had survived despite the odds and had found love in one another - a gift more precious than any other.
Somedays she hated what had happened to her, but she had only look into her mate's handsome young face and realise that if she had not been enslaved she would not have found him.
Beautiful Zezzie.
And whilst the Firekin had tried to break her they had failed, for whilst Zenoni remained at her side her heart would always beat true in her chest.
She stirred and moved to lick at his muzzle in an attempt to wake him up.
"Zezzie?"

Zenoni murmured something in his sleep, his ears twitching. His eyes finnally craked open, the vibrant purple searching for the voice that had woken him up. "Ah, it seems my dream has come true." He spoke softly, still rather sleepy. "I dreampt I was woken up by an angel." He gave her a soft nuzzle, then turned his head to the mouth of the cave. "Another day my love, another step closer to freedom." It had been something that had been on his mind since he had gotten to this place. Freedom. But now it was not only freedom for himself that he wished, but freedom for both him and his love, Kiburi. He turned his eyes back to her, giving her a gental lick on the cheek. "Did you sleep well?"

She smiled and would have blushed if such a thing was possible for a lioness before turning her gaze to the outside world. "I'm not an angel Zezzie." Her words were spoken with a gentle laugh and one could tell she was quite pleased with being referred to as such.
She sighed at his words and moved to rest her head on his great brown shoulder. She felt so safe with him.
"I slept well." Then as an afterthought added, "do you think we really will be free again someday?" Her eyes were filled with longing, "I met an old friend the other day, someone I haven't seen since I was a juvenile in the Pridelands. He reminded me how nice it is beyond the borders of this horrid desert."

"You are to me." He said looking up at her loveingly. She really was his savior in this horrid place. Without her, he wasnt sure he would have made it.
"I am postive of it." He said, a determinded look on his face. "Someday we will return home, and we can forget all about this place. What do you think the first thing you'll do when you get home is? I think I will find my family. Ive missed them." The image of his mother popped into his mind, and he couldnt help but smile. He hesitated with his next question, not wanting to put pressure on her. "Do you think...we could maybe start a family when we get back?"

(( ugh I lost his post for the second time so forgive the crappiness @_@ ))
She smiled and purred, turning to gaze at him as he spoke. "I think I'll find my brother first. I bet he's grown so much and I can't wait to see what he looks like now! Then I'll go find my parents." She wasof course unaware of the other children her mother had given birth to after her leaving.
At Zenoni's other question she simply stared at him for a long while, a longing in her eyes. "A...family of our own? You think we could?"

"Im certain of it. That is, if you want one." He said, his ears falling back againt his head. He didnt want to pressure her into anything she didnt want to do. She was beautiful, and he didnt want to risk losing her. "But yes, a family would be lovely. And the Pridelands is the best place to grow up." He smiled fondly remembering his own childhood, though it was short lived, having been made a slave when he was young.

She was nervous, but only because she was unsure whether she would be a good mother. What if she ended up being over protective or too timid too raise them properly? What if her body just wasn't up to birthing healthy cubs? Would she be able to deal with her own children dying moments after leaving the womb?
She moved in to nestle her face against his full, thick mane and used his scent and warmth to calm herself.
She would not be alone, because it would be their family. Zezzie would be with her too.
She smiled softly and nodded. "I think a family would be a good idea."
When she spoke to Zezzie now, the shake was gone from her voice, because with him she felt safe and comfortable. With him around there was no reason to be scared. However he was the only lion now to ever be able to steady her voice. Even Uumi hadn't been able to bring her that kind of comfort and he was one of her best friends.
"A family would be a good start to a new life in the Pridelands." She purred. "I met an old friend on the borders not so long ago. He has a mate and a son now...he's lived such a good life. I somehow can't help but think mine is ruined. Our childhood was taken from us....it was. And these lions have no right Zezzie, n-no right." She was getting worked up but it was only understandable.

Zenoni let out a pleased purr as she agreed with him on a family. He began to daydream of the future, a son to teach how to fight, and a daughter who would learn to hunt and have the looks that made everyone else jealous. Or maybe they would have more then just two, maybe 4, or 6! He sighed happily and turned his attention back to Kiburi. He nuzzled her comfortingly, giving a nod of understanding. "Dont worry my love, everything will be perfect in no time." He got up and streatched, his tail giving a twitch behind him. "I think ill go and try to snag us something to eat before im called off. Ill be back soon."He said, giving her a light lick on the cheek before heading out of the cave. /end?
