Despite being a school cafeteria, this room has all the appeal and design of a coffee shop, with round tables scattered about it and booths up against the wall. At first glance, this room wouldnm't seem to be able to hold even one class, let alone the whole school but, surprising as it is, there is enough seating for every student and teacher in Sinful Wings. Each table seat four people, meaning that it's impressive to have that many tables in a room that seems so small. Without it being all cramped and such. Unlike the library, the cafeteria is lit by both lights and windows, though the windows are only on one side of the room.

The kitchen staff are willing to make the students whatever they desire for whichever meal, unless it's one of many things that takes hours to prepare. If you'd like something in that fashion, you're more likely to get it at lunch if you order it at breakfast. A notice board hangs just outside the doors, being one of the newest item hanging in the school, after the last one wore out. On it are posted the notices for the school about upcoming dances, or anything of the like.

Sho had been meandering through the empty cafeteria and discovered a set of hot-plates, on which pots of coffee warmed. A dispenser of steaming water sat beside a wicker basket of various flavors of tea. Sho helped himself, and then turned, being faced with quite the selection of seating. He chose the nearest booth, preferring the look of the plush cusion. The wurr of something behind in the kitchen (a dishwasher, he guessed) purred quietly, serving as effective white noise. It was nearly distracting, but then a voice cut through it with a cheerful greeting towards Sho.

He looked up suddenly, eyes meeting a boy. A boy who appeared to be his own age. The gesture was so sudden, though, that Sho was unsure for a moment about how to respond.

"Um, hi," he replied, offering the other boy a hesitant smile. There was a short silence, in which he felt a bit uncomfortable. He held out his hand, motioning to the booth's opposite seat, inviting the other boy to join him.

"And here I thought I was the only one enrolled here," he laughed nervously. Sho was very grateful, suddenly, to have someone for companionship, even if it was to be for a short while.

He was slim, with bright eyes and long lashes, hands cupped around a white porcelin mug. Shy and quiet were the man words Em could think of for him, as he sat there hunched just the slightest bit over his mug.

He offered him a seat on the plush booth, which Em took, and said "And here I thought I was the only one enrolled here." He laughed a nervous kind of laugh, the type people uncertain of themselves often do.

Em smiled at him, glad to have found someone at Sinful Wings whom he could talk to -- certaintly, Spencer and whoever the other was did not seem up for chatting. Rather, they seemed up for some tense and sexually charged situations. He shook his head then, to clear his thoughts, and refocused on the Asian boy seated across from him. 'Who's name,' he thought, 'Is currently unknown.'

He pulled himself up earnestly, propping his elbows on the edge of the table (his mother was always reprimanding him, but it was an unbreakable habit). "Hi," he repeated. "I'm Emerson Shall, junior of the ever prestigious Sinful Wings all boy's boarding academy. Obviously, you go to Sinful Wings, and I suppose you're a... a junior? But I don't quite know your name."

He brushed his hand through his hair, grinned, and cradled his face under the curled palms of his hands.

Sho's confidence swelled slightly, as if feeding off of the boy infront of him, who seemed to have enough to spare. Emmerson's eyes were the first thing that he noticed, as they were almost alarmingly green, and stood out brilliantly on the boy's tanned face. Combined with his unkempt, black hair, he was overall pretty good looking. A cute look, at the least. He was definitely very sure of himself, something Sho admired right away.

"I'm a junior too" he replied, debating on whether or not he should have offered his hand. Would that have been too lame? Was it rude not to? In the end, he did nothing, keeping it glued to the warm mug in front of him. He took in the sight of the rising steam ghosting off of the smooth surface. It was like a tiny, foggy lake.

"I just got in maybe an hour or so ago. The grounds are so big, but I'm sure it's easy once you get the hang of it." A shy smile pulled at the corners of his mouth. Of course, it was almost obligatory for the first thing he said to be about the size of the school. It had almost always been.
He was unsure of his next move, but then remembered one crucial piece of information that he had neglected to mention.
"Oh. My name is Sho."

He could have kicked himself for having been so reclusive in his younger years. It was really incapacitating him socially now that he was, more or less, on his own. But he liked this Emmerson (as his general person seemed to coerce Sho into doing), and hoped that his first impression was a good one.

He seemed to perk up a bit once Em opened his mouth, though his uncertainty lingered. Em forced himself to pay more attention to his words and a little less about the air of his actions, and listened. He was a new student then -- if the comment about the large grounds was anything to go by, and then he said "Oh. My name is Sho," and he looked torn and just a little confused that Em could feel himself attach to Sho.

"It is easy. The grounds that is. Er-- getting used to them." He laughed a little at himself. "I'm not being very clear right now -- I suppose it has something along the lines with... Well, I'm not exactly sure what it has to do with." He laughed again. "When you get your schedule, let me know, and I'll help you out with directions -- I'm in room five."

It was always somewhat taxing for him to give directions, with him generally having no idea what to say and often where to go. But he'd walked the campus and building of Sinful Wings day after day for two years, and he knew the school by heart. Not to mention Sho seemed like a great person ('Wow,' he thought, 'How much lamer can my thoughts get?'), and frankly, Em genuinely wanted to help out.

"I'm in room two." Sho replied stupidly. To him, it was the same as saying, 'Oh, wow, you're in the dorms in this boarding school! Me too, how weird is that?' But he forgave himself, downing the remainder of his tea. The sunlight coming through the windows was muted by the light fixtures in the cafeteria, making it seem rather cloudy beyond the panes.

The thought reminded him of a particularly profound description of rain clouds that had been in the latest chapter of a book he was reading. He liked it, so he repeated it out loud, cradling his head with his fist as he absently observed the hem of Emmerson's sleeve.

Sho was in room two, Em learned, and he tucked away that bit of information in the back of his head before out came prose that was so familiar to him he could recite it in his sleep. "Oh!" he exclaimed. He leaned forward, even more eager. "That's from Vicissitude!"

"You read it?" he asked. "Do you like her? M. E. Kimling? Have you read the whole series? Isn't it great? The prose, the detail, the character development!" His words were tumbling over each other in hurried excitement; he couldn't speak fast enough to keep up the flow of thought.

He knew in the back of his mind that perhaps he was over-reacting, but he had been reading Vicissitude for the majority of his life, devouring every word as if it were gold.

Sho was somewhat surprised that Em had pin-pointed it so quickly, but when he realized, he felt a pang of excitement in his chest.

"Oh, yes! And the way she positively leaves you begging for the next book! I've been wanting to save up for the newest one, but I haven't gotten the time to get to a book store. We haven't really unpacked all that much, either, and Mom says not to buy more stuff to clutter the shelves with until we can find room for what we already have." Was this chemistry? He didn't know. Though he was terribly fond of it, whatever it was.

"Tell me, who's your favourite character?" He asked, suddenly shifting back into the habit of gesturing as he spoke. "I like the secondary character-- ah, his name in the translated version was different, wasn't it?-- Oh, right, Averill. He was only the main focus for the fourth book-- that's my favourite, of course-- but he's such a great personality. I swear, the way Kimling writes messes with my head. So that after a good few hours of reading, I'm likely to skulk around the house without talking for days-- just by thinking about it."

Sho couldn't have been more pleased than he was now. With likes and dislikes (he was certain that there would be more common ground than just Vicissitude; it would just simply have been a crime otherwise) in common, this socializing thing wasn't too terrible. Parhaps that was his problem with previous aquaintences. He was convinced that a good deal of his sudden confidence had to be due to Emmerson, though. The boy adjacent to him must have been supernatural or something.

Sho was apparently much more animated when he found something he liked, Em mused. He was sitting across from him waving his hands this way and that; his voice had gotten louder and even his inflection was more pronounced.

Em laughed softly, and he could feel a swell of happiness inside of him in finding this boy who was as much a fan as he was at Vicissitude, and even more, an interesting character he was sure he was going to enjoy getting to know.

"Averill is very cool," he nodded. "He has that sort of mixed personality going on, like he has no idea what he should do, and he's so confused -- I just want to... Do something," he laughed.

"I usually hole myself up in my room whenever I'm reading Vicissitude (I get fairly upset when people interupt me) and when I'm done my whole family knows because I'm off slinking in the shadows, brooding about it. It's just beautiful."

"Ah, isn't it?" Sho had finished warming his hands over his borrowed porcelain mug. It was only because the liquid inside had become steamless and tepid. He downed the remaining contents, stood with a small 'excuse me', and helped himself to another pour from the hot water despencer.
"Care for anything?" he asked of impulse, though the distance wasn't long.

"Oh," Em said, a little startled. The sudden movement was not one he had anticipated.

He stood up too, casually waving aside Sho's question. "It's alright, I can get it myself. I quite fancy some hot chocolate," he murmured half to himself, "with marshmellows, of course, the little ones... I hope they've got some..."

Standing up, Em could now see how slender Sho was -- he was a faint stroke, a whisp of a boy/man, his hair a sharp blot of black. In comparison, he was much sturdier and a bit taller as well, a first for him who was so often on the less formidable scale.

As he mused, he picked out auburn mug and set about getting his hot chocolate. "What are you drinking?" he asked. "Not hot chocolate, by any chance?"

Sho gave a sidelong glance in Emmerson's direction as he carefully replaced the contents of his mug.
"Tea, actually. I'm strict with drinking hot chocolate," he answered simply as he selected a package of some herbal mixture he had never heard of before.
He noticed Emmerson's look-over and quickly chose to let the unopened packet in front of him distract him. He struggled with it for a moment before it finally gave up. The little mesh bag bubbled to the bottom of the mug.

"It's something I save until December." He looked over the buffet once in an attempt to help Emmerson find some milk to heat up, but spotted none. If it was elsewhere, he wouldn't have known how to go about looking.

Akiva smiled childishly at the much taller man as he was toted through the bland halls of the high school. For a guy that big, he sure wasn't all serious and boring like most adults the angel knew were. It was like a kid his size had been shoved into a body too big for it. Which was fine from the perpetually-happy boy's point of view, as long as he had someone to play with at this previously lonely school. Pale hands went up to the disheveled locks of powder blue hair and readjusted them to Akiva's liking. He didn't really enjoy his hair being played with, but the tall man had no way of knowing that, unless he was psychic - 'Hmm, psychic..' - but that was improbable. So the angel hadn't complained that much, beyond a wince, that is. Violet eyes watched the colorless hall march on by as he was carried, oddly enough, down to the lower area on the school. The effect made the angel a little dizzy, and he shook his head slightly to reorganize his thoughts.

He shifted uncomfortably in the taller man's arms, a slight pout on his face. The angel was in two minds about being carried to wherever they were going. On one hand, he had this thing about people invading his 'bubble'. Yes, he would invade theirs at a moment's notice, but he just wasn't used to them returning the action. But, on the other hand, he didn't want to seem rude or mean or something, so he bore it stoically. Since, however, the child wasn't the greatest at hiding emotions, he still looked a little disgruntled.

"Ooh, I found it, I found it!! Right in there!" Akiva pointed a thin finger excitedly to a cramped-looking room that resembled a coffee shop more than a school cafeteria. In his elation at finally finding some food, the angel leaped out of the tall man's arms and rushed over to a table, bouncing cheerfully as he waited for his companion to catch up with his supersonic speed. "Here, here, sit here!" he called in his girlish voice, promptly seating himself and looking around the small room in something mirroring utter delight. Being raised in a middle-of-nowhere town, Akiva was fascinated by the smallest things, which only added to the effect that he was only half his actual age. As he waited impaitienly for the tall man, he found his mind going back to the conversation of sort that the two had had back in the boring hall. He didn't why he was recalling it now, his mind just liked to jump around, like the boy himself. Recalling the compliment he had been given, he blushed lightly. Most people didn't like his powder blue hair; they thought it was something from a cult. Whatever a cult was. Swinging his thin legs childishly, he half-muttered into his bright blue jacket "Do you really think my hair is pretty?"
