Ok, I'm new to this guild, so I don't know if this has already been asked. What does the apple stand for? Why is the book called Twilight?

Apple = forbidden fruit. Look for the quote in the beginning pages of Twilight (before story begins).
Twilight = safest time of day for vampires. 'Least that's what I always thought.

The apple has also been used in and out of stories for centuries to describe love.
So many stories like Twilight revolve around apples and their "personality" that it's only fitting to be a cover picture... rofl

KiraLight haha..apples..lol, sorry xd but I always thought the apple symbolized temptation or something.. Same here. Like the forbidden fruit. So she was offering the temptation to Edward...and there is one part of the book were Bella is described as holding an apple. But I think the cover picture wasn't that literal.

Bella's described as holding an apple, and that's when she dares Edward to eat "human" food.

Well ya. She dared him to eat and he took a bte of the pizza but when she dared him she herself was eating a red apple. I think Kacche said that because you guys noticed that small of a detail. Not that it is insignificant because it is not.

and for the Twilight part, there are quite a few parts in the book when Edward realizes it is twilight, sometimes when he is deep in thought... and as Phantomette said, it is the safest time of day for vampires

Artemis-Saphyra I always thought the apple represented temptation and the forbidden fruit. Right you are.
I think somebody already said this, but it symbolizes the forbidden fruit (like the Genesis quote) because by involving herself with vampires, Bella is kind of like Adam and Eve, recieving knowledge that might put her own existence in danger.
Then someone's already answered for the title so I won't get into that.
