You walk up the winding stairs with the other first years and reach a wooden door with a brass eagle knocker but no door knob. The prefect leading you knocks on it, and it speaks.
"Which came first: The phoenix or the flame?"
The question surprises you. Don't common rooms use passwords?
The prefect answers in a convoluted sentence that had something to do with circles and time, but the door knocker seems to have understood, for it nods and the door opens.
You enter a beautiful circular room. Floor-to-ceiling windows, curtained with dark blue and bronze silk, show a sweeping view of the surrounding mountains. The domed ceiling is painted to depict a night sky with thousands of stars. Blue fire crackles in a fireplace to your right, with large comfy sofas and chairs centered around it. Students mill around, reading and talking at the tables scattered about. Book cases tower above you, filled with thousands of reading possibilities. A large white marble statue of the House's founder, Rowena Ravenclaw, is also placed in the common room. When you look up close, you see that her diadem reads, "Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure."
As you tread onto the starry midnight-blue carpet, you realize that you have truly entered the Ravenclaw common room.

House Points!: These are some of the various ways you can earn Ravenclaw some house points:
1. Doing work in class- 5-20 points
2. Winning Quidditch Games- 75 points!
3. Dueling Club!- Points vary.
4. Winning Contests- Points vary.
5. Recruiting members!- 10 points!!!
(Just make sure when they join they say you brought them here!)
6. Making a banner- 10 points!

 What is in the Ravenclaw news?
September 7, 2009- Quite a while ago, our headmaster mysteriously vanished. Well, now he's back, but the mystery still exists. Where was he? Why did he go? Why did he not come back?
Find the answers to these questions at our 'Where Was Adonis' Event now!
Old News July 25, 2009- Early sorting is on - welcome your new housemates with pride!
August 18, 2008- Our Blackout event just ended. Thanks to all of you for participating and for following the rules! Ravenclaw won this last term's House Cup (YES!) and we'll be getting our picture of it soon. August is slated as a sorting month; we'll be getting plenty of new firsties now, so make them all feel welcome.
Sign-up to teach classes is going on now. I really recommend teaching a class if you have the free time for it. If not, that's okay - taking classes is just as much fun.
Other than that, enjoy your summer (what's left of it anyhow) and remember - Eagles Rule!
March 23, 2008- Happy Easter!
The Winter Term has ended, and the event is slowly winding down. Soon we will have Spring Term upon us!
Thanks to a recent mass sorting, we also get to welcome several new house members...an unfortunate side effect of this is future bannings. Remember to stay active! We don't like kicking anyone out.
December 23, 2007- Let the New Term begin!
To kick off the New Year and this Winter term, Hogwarts is hosting a Masquerade, Yuletide Mystery, and a Secret Santa. All of it masked! What are you waiting for? Dress up and join in the fun!
Also, please note that Angilwingz is launching a Guild-based Survivor game. There is an entry fee of 1,000 gold and real challenges, but the winner will walk away with a giant pot: 20,000 gold! So, do you think you're up to it? Go show the other houses just what makes a Ravenclaw.
November 17, 2007- The old term is ending, and the new one is coming up soon. I do hope more Ravenclaws will be around this time...
Our Pajama Rama 2007 event starts tomorrow! Dress up in your comfiest jammies and go check it out! There are two fun games (a PJ fashion contest and an honest-to-goodness pillow fight) as well as a countdown to a very special surprise. Better be there!
July 17, 2007- Deathly Hallows comes out in a matter of days and we will end summer vacation and begin a new term in a matter of weeks! Check out the Book Waiting Carnival while it lasts, then browse the classroom forum, pack your trunks, and prepare to learn again. We also need two beaters on the Quidditch team to play.
September 4, 2006- The term has started! We have a new common room! If you see any updates that need to take place, please tell me. Also, we have a new Prefect: mystic_emerald, and two new Junior Prefects: Alutian and Voluptuous Jon. Congradulations and welcome to all!
August 3, 06- The Common Room is being updated. If you see anything that needs to be fixed, please post in the Odd Jobs listing thread in the Main Forum. Also, we now have a new Ravenclaw Head. Please welcome Reese_Roper to her new position!
April 18, 06- The common room have been updated again, if there is anything that you see that needs to be fixed, please post in the Odd Jobs listing thread in the main forum.
January 16, 06- The common room has been updated, and now we have special news. There are two new holders of power in this house. Congratulate Reese_Roper and Mystic_Emerald to the new positions of Junior Prefect!
December 19, 05- After a long time of considerate planning, the Yule Ball has begun. Everybody go out there and have fun. Get a few pictures of you and your friends, and don't drink too much butterbeer!
November 28, 05- Team try-outs for quidditch have begun. Let's apply and have a wonderful team this year. Goodluck. I have also displayed the results so far.
October 30, 05- We have started off our new term with a wonderful Halloween feast! The classes will be straing shortly, and the commonrooms will be settled. We welcome our new and our returning students.
August 24, 05- The thread has started to be set up as the Sorting Ceremony started today. Congratulations to our returning Ravenclaws!
