homophobia was abundant in the old testament...and it was strong...we are meant to be fertile with our partners...but did jesus die for us to be hateful to our gay/les neighors? i personaly think not...homosexuality is not a form of fertility...i admit but is it still a sin? and what is with all the hate directed towards gays? i once read a sign that read "god hates fags."...im sure someone out there is reading this thinking "tee hee hee...me too..." but when i read all i could think of was how blasphemous this thought was...im ranting...please share your oppinions.
by the way...im not gay...

Given that it's hatred, I imagine that it's sin.

well, if you think about the word it means fear of people (homo=people/person, phobia=fear), but in the language today it is used to say that someone is afraid of homosexual people. Now, fear isn't a sin, but when you begin to hate/hurt the people you are afraid of then it becomes a sin. Basically, if you're afraid of gay people it's all right, but if you begin to hate them then it's not all right. If this made any sense at all.

No, I dont think we should shun, or reject gays. Can you imagine what it feels like to be shuned from a holy place, just because you are homo.......or goth.....or anything that mainstream Christians think is wrong?
I can.

I can. i've experienced being 'shunned' in a church (gods home for all of his children) and know how it feels.

yes homosexuality is a sin it is the reasion that God destroyed sodom and gomorrah in genesis chapters 18-19 if you don't beleave me look it up, however it does not say to hate homosexuals it does say in the bible that we should love everyone so hating anyone is a sin.

Homophobia is not a sin, it's not a sin to fear. But when you understand homophobia as 'hating the homos' then I can say it is not a sin, but it's still wrong, quoting Ephesians 4:26
Ephesians 4:26: "In your anger do not sin" Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry
It becomes an 'official' sin when it lasts longer than a day. Don't get me wrong, we are all humans and have the right to get angry, but we shouldn't reach the point of hate.
And to make it clear, we shouldn't reject homosexuals (bi, lesbian, gay) because... how are we supposed to spread the word to them if we run them away? but be careful, this doesn't mean it is okay for them to be homosexual!!

Here are my views on homosexuality: I think everyone is attracted to both sexes to some degree, but it is only when you act on the attraction that it is homosexuality. I think homophobes are just people who wont admit to themselves that they've found some people of the same sex attractive.

Think about it this way. Jesus befriended thoughs who most would not. In todays society (mostly the upper level schools ie middle/high/collage) people tend to make fun of harm and hate gays/lez and bi's. If you think about it wouldn't Jesus have befriended them? And arn't we supost to be like Jesus.

see what God has to say 1 corinthians chapter 6 verse 9-11 NIV
"9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were . But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
hum food for thought, also see verses 12-20.

Even if homosexuality is a sin, it gives no one any right to hate them. You are to love your brothers and sisters, regardless of their beliefs and ways. And plus, is it not said that we are not to judge? Telling someone they are hated or that they are disgusting because of their sexual preferance does fall under that category, correct? I know that seems irrelevant, but it really isn't. Think about it.
I have nothing against other people in any way based on beliefs or anything of the sort.
As for homophobia, it's just outright unnecessary. I won't even begin to explain how absurd it truly is, for fear I might lose my head and do something far too unchristian-like. There's just no need for it at all. Homophobia, in my opinion, is not the fear it translates to, it is more of a hatred and nothing else. I've never met someone who was truly afraid of homosexuals. I've only met people who hate them.

I personally think it's wrong to shun or hate homosexuals but you don't have to support their choices, you still have to respect them as Gods creations and the fact that God also has a plan for their lives.

The hate by itself is a sin, coz God give us two Commandments of love and one of theese about our kind. Even if you dislike homosexual relationship (i do!) there's no excuse to hate people who like it.
