Comet grinned. "You're too welcome, Miss." He shrugged at her next question, airily discarding it. "Magic? I wouldn't know, some sort of human trick. I know I'd hate not having a tail." She really had lovely eyes. Quite a pretty young lady, compared with his wide memory of women he had met, flirted with, been insulted by, or infuriated did stretch.

((Is she the only female that he's met to date that hasn't abused him in any way? I've only managed to follow a few of the meetings xp ))
Catching her tail in her paws, she hugged the fuzzy appendage to her chest, somewhat horrified by the thought of losing her tail somehow. "Not having a tail would be horrible..." Honestly couldn't understand why so many female Waywards had been warning her to stay away from this charming fellow.

Comet shrugged. "Not that a lovely young lady would ever do a thing to lose her pretty tail." he said soothingly. "A tail is a tail and if you've lost it you've probably done something daring and foolhardy that causes you to deserve to do so." He flicked an ear, wanting to change topics to something less disturbing than appendage loss. It wasn't the most charming or romantic conversation one could have. "So tell me Miss Shadow, do you enjoy reading?" said Comet in a pleasant and questioning tone. "I myself enjoy the classics." Classics? Yuck. But girls seemed to go for guys that read them, or at least prefer them over guys who read comic books like Comet truthfully did.

Nodding in agreement with Comet's philosophy on missing tails, Shadow slowly let her tail slip from between her fingers as the topic of conversation changed. Hoping to never meet a Wayward what somehow lost their tail.
"Reading? Sometimes," She waffled, "Fantasy mostly... Some of the classics are okay I guess, but most of them are boring..." Abrubtly realizing what she indicated about Comet's reading preferences, she quickly ammended her statement, "I mean... Most of them are boring to me... I don't really understand them all that well..."

Comet waved a hand airily. "No offense taken. They can be rather tiresome at times." Switching tracks from his to her preferences, he said "Fantasy? Fascinating genre, really it is. Amazing what a writer can do with an imagination, isn't it? Just look at the works of Tolkien. Simply astounding." What did Tolkien write again? Kotatsu was always blathering on about it so it had to be good... Oh. He wrote about those furry footed people. Well that was no big deal. Comet himself had furry feet. Might as well play along with it if Shadow really did like fantasy a lot...

"Tolken...? Well, yes... I liked 'The Hobbit' best, even though thats the one he wrote of that series. He wrote the prequel to the series after the rest of the books," Shadow mused amusedly, completely missing the change to focus on her intrest instead of Comet's. "It's amazing how writers can make up their own worlds and then share them with everyone else through their writings."
Realizing that she was babbling more then actually speaking Shadow paused in her speech before contining carefully, "What was your favorite scene in the series Comet?"

Hobbit. Sceeene. Quick thinking was called for here, people, and Comet Bond was the man for it! He had to cast his mind back to Kotatsu's blatherings. It was lucky that that Hobbit one was her favourite too. "Well it was all VERY good... Let me think." Excellent stalling line set up there, just lovely. What did Kotatsu talk about now? Smog... Elves... Golems... "I liked the part with the awful smog." he said, not knowing that Smaug had been the name of a dreadful dragon. "It was uh... Really hard to beat. It took a lot of cunning and brainpower to make it go away." Oh yeah. Who's good?

Watching the mostly white feline wrack his brain, Shadow still didn't realize that he was simply pulling his information out of the air. She thought that he might have been having a hard time picking what scenes that he liked. "Oh yes, the dragon Smaug! Even though it was hard to kill him, it was the threat of war afterward that was really moving to me. Even though he'd taken over the ancient dwarven tunnels, Smaug had a huge impact on all of the peoples living near the mountain. To the point where all of the species were willing to fight over the treasure because they felt they'd each been impaced the most by the dragon's presance." Shadow said with a sad litle smile. "It's too bad that they couldn't just find a way to split the treasure... But I suppose that to survive everyone has to be at least a little greedy."

Comet blinked. Dragon? Oh... Well that WAS a close scrape. He was better at this than he thought. At her prclamation, he shook his head though. "I beg to differ!" he said. "Why truly everyone has to be a little greedy to get on but this is a dragon's treasure we're talking about. In such a case surely it is more wise to give some to those in need since one species would surely have enough for themselves and more." Right? Thought Comet, checking his logic. Hmmm... Who had been after that gold? it was something like Snow furryfeet and the seven dwarves. So the dwarves and the furryfeet had been after the gold. Yeah. And a dragon's treasure was big, so the furryfeet and dwarves would've had more than enough to share amongst themselves. And now he looked a generous soul to Shadow, hopefully.

"If it were just one or two species maybe, but between the elves, dwarves and humans... Many having been raised to at least dislike if not outright hate each other's species?" Shadow hesitated, remembering the description of the sheer amount of treasure. Well, there was a lot of it there, why couldn't they figure out some way to split it other then that all of them were greedy? "Maybe you're right... But, all three species had been affected by the dragon's presance for many years... Several generations actually, and those were dwarven lifespans!" Shadow shook her her head in dismay, such greedy species all of them were. What an intelligent and caring feline this Comet was, on top of being handsome! What did all those other females have against him anyway?

Oh, so lots of people wanted the treasure. Made sense, it was treasure after all. Never met anyone who had passed that up. Sooo, lots of people had suffered cos of this dragon thing? Smog? "Well if they suffered they deserved a bit of the treasure." Comet said fairly. "It doesn't matter who finds it, it matters that it's distributed to everyone who deserves some." He was running out of lines. Topic change, quick! Looking around in his tidy brain he spotted a wonderful topic to switch to. "So do you watch much TV? An intellingent girl like you must surely keep up with the news."

What was this about news? Why would she watch that boring stuff? "Not really no... Kali keeps all of us updated on the current events, so none of us really watch the news much..." Shadow cocked her head to the side, looking at Comet with wide eyes. "Some of the others watch TV a lot, but I like my books and the outdoors. You watch much TV?"

"No, I'm afraid not. I read the paper to keep up with the current events." Comet said, conveniently forgetting to mention that Kotatsu didn't GET a paper on any day but Sunday and that he happened to watch two soap operas, seven action shows, and whatever mystery channel Kotatsu happened to be watching when he entered a room. "Ah, the outdoors." Comet sighed. "It's such a shame that kids these days don't appreciate the beauty of nature and instead opt to shop and chill inside their houses, watching TV and listening to their rap music. Have they lost all appreciation for nature?" Ew, nature. It was all slimy and messy and buggy, wasn't it?

Grinning at Comet's rant on the current generation, Shadow purred contentedly deep in her throat, pleased to have finally met someone who felt the same way she did. "I agree, kids spend so much time indoors now... They rarely get fresh air unless a window is open in the room they're in. So few of them know how relaxing it is to sit in the grass on a sunny day and doze off." Eyes slitted closed in rememberance of several very nice days that have been spent doing just that, her purring continuing unabated.
Opening her eyes fully again a moment later Shadow smiled at Comet and asked, "Would you like to talk a walk with me?"

A walk? Well, he could live with that. He took walks all the time. He walked here, he walked home, he walked to his room, he paced. Sometimes he even walked just for fun. "With you? I can think of no better way to spend my time." he said pleasantly. "Where shall we stroll to?" queried Comet.
