from an online posting Quote: Indeed all praise is due to Allah, we praise Him and we seek His help and we seek His forgiveness. And we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of ourselves and our actions. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide him and whoever He misguides none can guide him. I testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone without any partners, and I testify that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). bismillah Feeling depressed, anxiety, sorry, worry etc. is a very common thing for us as humans because of the vast amount of emotions that Allah has created us to feel. These feelings that make us sad and depressed can also be a form of trials for us in this life to test our trust in Allah, the Exalted. InshaaAllah there will be some du'aas (supplications) from the sunnah of the prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at the end so you can have ways to ask Allah from safety from these things. Shaytaan is pleased when he can make us feel sorry and anxiety and these things to turn us away from the remembrance of Allah. That is why we should remember Allah at all times. Allah says in the Qur'aan (the meaning of which is): Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a true believer verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (in the Hereafter). (An-Nahl 16:97) Working righteousness is in the rememberance of Allah and in obedience to Him and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). A good life in this world is a life of peace and contentment and in realizing that all things, good and bad, are from Allah. Allah says in the Qur'aan (the meaning of which is): Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested. (Al-'Ankabut 29:2) These things are what Allah uses to test us, along with other trials, to see if we are true to Him and are trusting in Him with our lives. So when we may be faulting in our worship and obedience to Allah, we might experience more of these anxieties, as Allah says (the meaning of which is): But whosoever turns away from My Reminder verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection." (Ta-Ha 20:124) Hardships can serve as a wake up call (stated by shaykh Saleh al-Munajjid) in accordance with an interpretation of this ayah. So repentence and turning to Allah especially in times of grief is one way to extinguish that grief. And when Allah tests you with these things, the best thing is not to do crazy things or to say crazy things, the best way is to practice patience. One of my favorite ayahs, Allah's saying (the meaning of which is): And seek help in patience and the prayer, and truly it is extremely hard except for those who are humble. (Al-Baqarah 2:45) and His saying (the meaning of which is): ... Only those who are patient shall receive their rewards in full, without reckoning." (Az-Zumar 39:10) So strive for patience by turning to Allah and resting assured that He has only sent upon you a burden that you have the strength to bear, as He says (the meaning of which is): Allah does not burden a person beyond what he is able to bear (Al-Baqarah 2:286) (and in the rest of this ayah is a wonderful supplication that we should call to our Lord with) And we should remember that Allah has also said (the meaning of which is): And your Lord has said: Invoke Me, I will respond to your invocation... (Al-Ghaafir 40:60) With all these things in mind, here are some supplications from the Sunnah for feeling down, sorry etc. from the wonderful small book Fortress of the Muslim: Invocations from the Qur'aan and Sunnah: Invocations in times of worry and grief (I will include the arabic transliteration with the english translation inshaaAllah for those who want an idea of what it is in arabic) 1. Allahumma innee 'abduka, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu amatika, naasiyatee biyadika, maadhin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qadhaa`uka, as`aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammaita bihi nafsaka, aw anzaltahu fee kitaabika, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, awista`tharta bihi fee 'ilmil-ghaibi 'indaka, an taj'alal-Quraana rabee'a qalbee, wa noora sadree, wa jalaa'a huznee, wa tha-haaba hammee. Oh Allah, I am Your slave and the son of Your male slave and the son of Your female slave. My forehead is in Your Hand (meaning He has control over you). Your judgment upon me is assured and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have named Yourself with, revealed in Your Book, taught any one of Your creation or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is with You, to make the Qur'aan the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness and the reliever of my distress. (Ahmad) 2. Allahumma inee a'uthu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wal-bukhli wal-jubni, wa dhala'id-daini wa ghalabatir-rijaal. Oh Allah, I seek refuge in you from grief and sadness, from weaknessa nd from laziness, frmo miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men (meaning others). (Bukhaari) 3.Allahumma rahmataka arjoo falaa takilnee ilaa nafsee tarfata 'ainin, wa aslih lee sha'nee kullahu, laa ilaaha illa Anta. Oh Allah, I hope for Your mercy. Do not leave me to myself even for the blinking of an eye (a moment). Correct all of my affairs for me. There is none worthy of worship but You. (Abu Dawud & Ahmad) All these reports are authentic inshaAllah graded sahih by al-albaani for the ones that are not in Bukhaari. InshaaAllah this served a benefit for all of us and all correctness is from Allah and any mistakes are my own. Glory is to You, Oh Allah and praise is to You. I testify that none has the right to be worshiped except You. I seek Your forgiveness and repent unto You.

ANGEL OF DEATH
It was early in the morning at four, When death knocked upon a bedroom door,
Who is there? The sleeping one cried. I'm Malkul Mawt, let me inside.
At once, the man began to shiver, As one sweating in deadly fever,
He shouted to his sleeping wife, Don't let him take away my life.
Please go away, O Angel of Death! Leave me alone; I'm not ready yet.
My family on me depends, Give me a chance, O please prepense!
The angel knocked again and again, Friend! I'll take your life without a pain,
Tis your soul Allah requires, I come not with my own desire.
Bewildered, the man began to cry, O Angel I'm so afraid to die,
I'll give you gold and be your slave, Don't send me to the unlit grave.
Let me in, O Friend! The Angel said, Open the door; get up from your bed,
If you do not allow me in, I will walk through it, like a Jinn.
The man held a gun in his right hand, Ready to defy the Angel's stand.
I'll point my gun, towards your head, You dare come in; I'll shoot you dead.
By now the Angel was in the room, Saying, O Friend! Prepare for you doom.
Foolish man, Angels never die, Put down your gun and do not sigh.
Why are you afraid! Tell me O man, To die according to Allah's plan?
Come smile at me, do not be grim, Be Happy to return to Him.
O Angel! I bow my head in shame, I had no time to take Allah's Name.
From morning till dusk, I made my wealth, Not even caring for my health.
Allah's command I never obeyed, Nor five times a day I ever prayed.
A Ramadan came and a Ramadan went, But no time had I to repent.
The Hajj was already FARD on me, But I would not part with my money.
All charities I did ignore, Taking usury more and more.
Sometimes I sipped my favorite wine, With flirting women I sat to dine.
O Angel! I appeal to you, Spare my life for a year or two.
The Laws of Quran I will obey, I'll begin SALAT this very day.
My Fast and Hajj, I will complete, And keep away from self-conceit.
I will refrain from usury, And give all my wealth to charity,
Wine and wenches I will detest, Allah's oneness I will attest.
We Angels do what Allah demands, We cannot go against His commands.
Death is ordained for everyone, Father, mother, daughter or son.
I'm afraid this moment is your last, Now be reminded, of your past,
I do understand your fears, But it is now too late for tears.
You lived in this world, two score and more, Never did you, your people adore.
Your parents, you did not obey, Hungry beggars, you turned away.
Your two ill-gotten, female offspring, In nightclubs, for livelihood they sing.
Instead of making more Muslims, You made your children non-Muslims.
You ignored the Mua'dhin Adhaan, Nor did you read the Holy Quran.
Breaking promises all your life, Backbiting friends, and causing strife.
From hoarded goods, great profits you made, And your poor workers, you underpaid.
Horses and cards were your leisure, Moneymaking was your pleasure.
You ate vitamins and grew more fat, With the very sick, you never sat.
A pint of blood you never gave, Which could a little baby save?
O Human, you have done enough wrong, You bought good properties for a song.
When the farmers appealed to you, You did not have mercy, tis true.
Paradise for you? I cannot tell, Undoubtedly you will dwell in hell.
There is no time for you to repent, I'll take your soul for which I am sent.
The ending however, is very sad, Eventually the man became mad
With a cry, he jumped out of bed, And suddenly, he fell down dead.
O Reader! Take moral from here, You never know, your end may be near
Change your living and make amends For heaven, on your deeds depends.
If this poem inspires you, It can help someone too.

At least take sometime, and do not make it ban And send it to as many people as you can.
What do you have for your END? Take Care with: The END
The End ========================

Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Quran says.
Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do not have to believe, think, say, or doanything the Quran says. Funny or is it scary?
Funny how someone can say "I believe in Allah" but still follow Shaitaan (who, by the way, also "believes"in Allah).
Funny how you can send a thousand 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding Allah, people think twice about sharing.
Funny how the lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but the public discussion of Allah is suppressed in the school and workplace. Funny, isn't it?
Funny how someone can be so fired up for Allah on Friday but be an invisible Muslim the rest of the week. Are you laughing?
Funny how when you go to forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them.
Funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than what Allah thinks of me. Are you thinking?

A young teenage man asked to his mom
“Mommy, tell me about the true ikhwan”
His moms only smiles and answer his question
The true ikhwan isn’t seen in the width of his shoulders
It’s seen in the width of his arms that circle you
The true ikhwan isn’t in the deep tone of his voice
It’s in the how he whispers the truth
The true ikhwan isn’t how many buddies he has
Its how good buddy he is with his kids
The true ikhwan isn’t in how respected he is at work
It’s in how respected he is at home
The true ikhwan isn’t in how hard he hit
It’s in how tender he touches the circumstances
The true ikhwan isn’t how many women adore him
It’s in can he be true to the woman he loves
The true ikhwan isn’t in the weight he can lift
It’s in the burdens he can carry
The true ikhwan isn’t in the loud of his voice reading Qur’an
It’s in the consistency he runs the Qur’an in his life
After that the young teenage man is asking again
“who is the person who can fit those criteria, mom?”
His mom gives him a book and said “Learn about him”.
The young teenage man takes the book
And the title of the book is “Mohammad”

There once was a little boy who wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer, and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry so he offered her a Twinkie.
He gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Once again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word. As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps; he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.
When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later; his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"
Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked, "Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?" She replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." But before her son responded, she added, "You know he's much younger than I expected."
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, and honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.
Embrace all equally!

8 Things a Muslim can do to counteract Stress:
1. Increase dhikr (remembrance of Allah): "Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction (Qur'an, 13:2 cool ."
2. Increase prayers: "O you who believe! Seek assistance through patience and prayer; surely, Allah is with the patient (Qur'an, 2:153)." Regardless of the type of meditation, recent studies have verified the physiological effects of meditation. Most of those mediations consist in focusing on something, repeating some words and breathing (Greenberg, p.142, 143).
3. Perform ablutions: The most important component of relaxation is what Hans Loehr calls "the rituals of success." These rituals may be as simple as making ablution; yet, they must be performed properly for it is not enough to pass water on the body parts - those parts must be massed.
4. Ask for forgiveness: Even if a person has not done anything wrong, he must insure the forgiveness of Allah. "Then I said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord; surely, He is the most Forgiving'" (Qur'an, 71:10).
5. Recite the Qur'an: The Prophet (Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said, "... Qur'an is a remedy for illnesses of the mind" (Bukhari). "The echo of sound has a medical effect and is now widely utilized," says Dr. Greenberg. "The recitation of or listening to the Qur'an has an effect on the body, the heart and the mind! It is said that the letter Alif echoes to the heart and the letter Ya' to the pineal gland in the brain." Dr Ahmed El Kadi of Akber Clinic (Panama City, FL) conducted and published the effects of listening to Qur'anic recitation on physiological parameters (i.e., the heart, blood pressure, and muscle tension), and reported improvement in all factors, irrespective of whether the listener was a Muslim or a non-Muslim, Arab or non-Arab. Obviously, it can be postulated that those who understand and enjoy the recitation with a belief in it will get maximum benefits," writes Dr Athar.
6. Make the hereafter one's main concern: "Whoever has the hereafter as his main concern, Allah will fill his heart with a feeling of richness and independence; he will be focused and feel content, and this world will come to him in spite of it. Whoever has this world as his main concern, Allah will cause him to feel constant fear of poverty; he will be distracted and unfocused, and he will have nothing of this world except what was already predestined for him," said the Prophet (Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam). One of the greatest causes of stress is money - how to pay the loans, whether one's job will be lost, what will happen to the family if the father dies, etc.
7. Think positively: Muslims should forget about the bad things of the past and think of good things, always having hope that he can be better. Trying to change the past is a foolish and crazy waste of time, "for saying 'if only...'opens the way to Shaytan" said the Prophet (Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam). The Prophet (Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) also said, " Know that victory (achievement) comes through patience, and that ease comes through hardship." Muslims understand that there's no reason for panic in the case of crisis - no reason to be distressed or worried for we know that after hardship come ease!
8. Do not waste time on thoughts of fear or stress: "The search of time is one of the most frequent causes of stress" (Seyle, p.102). Laziness is the mother of all evils, and the Prophet (Sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) used to seek refuge in Allah from it. Understanding that this life is short and time precious, Muslims should try to work hard and pursue worthy knowledge (Munajjid).

Pearl
<>:<> The cheerful little girl with bouncy golden curls was almost five. Waiting with her mother at the checkout stand, she saw them, a circle of glistening white pearls in a pink foil box. "Oh please, Mommy. Can I have them? Please, Mommy, please?"
Quickly the mother checked the back of the little foil box and then looked back into the pleading blue eyes of her little girl's upturned face. "A dollar ninety-five. That's almost $2.00. If you really want them, I'll think of some extra chores for you and in no time you can save enough money to buy them for yourself. Your birthday's only a week away and you might get another crisp dollar bill from Grandma."
As soon as Aisha got home, she emptied her penny bank and counted out 17 pennies. After dinner, she did more than her share of chores and she went to the neighbour and asked Aunty Jamshed if she could pick dandelions for ten cents. On her birthday, Grandma did give her another new dollar bill and at last she had enough money to buy the necklace. Aisha loved her pearls.
They made her feel dressed up and grown up. She wore them everywhere, Sunday madressa classes, kindergarten, even to bed. The only time she took them off was when she went swimming or had a bubble bath. Mother said if they got wet, they might turn her neck green. Aisha had a very loving daddy and every night when she was ready for bed, he would stop whatever he was doing and come upstairs to read her a story from the Quraan. One night as he finished the story, he asked Aisha , "Do you love me?"
"Oh yes, daddy. You know that I love you." "Then give me your pearls."
"Oh, daddy, not my pearls. But you can have Princess, the white horse from my collection, the one with the pink tail. Remember, daddy? The one you gave me. She's my very favourite." "That's okay, Aisha, daddy loves you. Allah-hafez." And he brushed her cheek with a kiss.
About a week later, after the story time, Aisha's daddy asked again, "Do you love me?" "Daddy, you know I love you." "Then give me your pearls." "Oh Daddy, not my pearls. But you can have my baby doll. The brand new one I got for my birthday. She is beautiful and you can have the yellow blanket that matches her sleeper. "That's okay. Sleep well. May Allah bless you & protect you, Aisha. Daddy loves you." And as always, he brushed her cheek with a gentle kiss.
A few nights later when her daddy came in, Aisha was sitting on her bed with her legs crossed Indian-style. As he came close, he noticed her chin was trembling and one silent tear rolled down her cheek.
"What is it, Aisha? What's the matter?" Aisha didn't say anything but lifted her little hand up to her daddy. And when she opened it, there was her little pearl necklace. With a little quiver, she finally said, "Here, daddy, this is for you." With tears gathering in his own eyes, Aisha's daddy reached out with one hand to take the cheap necklace, and with the other hand he reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue velvet case with a strand of genuine pearls and gave them to Aisha.
He had them all the time. He was just waiting for her to give up the cheap stuff so he could give her the genuine treasure.
So it is with our Allah Almighty. He is waiting for us to give up the cheap things in our lives so that he can give us beautiful treasures.
Isn't Allah great? Are you holding onto things that Allah wants you to let go of? Are you holding on to harmful or unnecessary partners, relationships, habits and activities that you have come so attached to that it seems impossible to let go? Sometimes it is so hard to see what is in the other hand but do believe this one thing ...
.......Allah will never take away something without giving you something better in its place.
The greatest gifts happen when you share love and touch others' hearts

The Cracked Pot
<>:<>
A water bearer in China had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which he carried across his neck.. One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his house.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect for which it was made.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.
After 2 years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you've watered them.
For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house"
Moral: Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots.
But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are, and look for the good in them.

Quote: the president of the Special Olympics was giving a talk to a large group of people. during the question and answer time that followed, someone asked him to describe the best moment for him as President of that year's Special Olympics. He told about the 100 meter run. Six developmentally handicapped kids lined up in a stadium filled with 50,000 people. these kids had prepared all year for this event. they wanted to win. although they could not run very well, they would give it their best effort. the gun went off and all six began to run. At about the 50-meter mark, one of the six runners fell down, face first on the the track. the other five runners took a couple more steps then stopped. They looked back and saw the fallen runner. Then, to the surprise of the crowd, they all went back, helped the fallen runner to his feet, joined hands, and continued the race. All six kids crossed the finish line at the same moment. Each one recieved a gold medal.
