A pair of silver eyes looked breifly over the Pride Lands, their owner remaining reletively hidden within the shadows of one of the many caves that made up Pride Rock. She was looking for someone in particular, who she hadn't seen in quite a while. The one who had attacked her so viciously and scarred her for life.
Taking in a deep breath, Malaika stepped out of the shadows and into the sun. Her golden-orange pelt beamed brightly, while the marks that scarred her back seemed to burn. She hadn't left the safety of the caves in ages, but having not seen Mbaya in so long, she decided that going out for a little walk was worth the risk.
Auri had found a mate recently, and was spending a lot more time with her than with Malaika. The adolescent knew though that he couldn't stay with her forever, so she had to learn to defend herself eventually.

The first born son of Sukutu and Jasiri, had grown into a very confident and handsome male, but was still the sweet natured individual he had alway's been. He was also sad that his brother was missing and that his mother had gone of to find him where as his father stayed to protect the pride incase anything should happen. But he stayed cheerful and optimistic as he had always done.
The plus side of thing's, being grown up, his mother's conclusion was right and he was now lacking his speech problem. He could speak fluently and had a powerful deep voice too, which had to count for something, right?
As he padded up the smooth rocks and toward's the den's, he could help but try to shake the fidgety lock of fur that now flopped over his eye, the downside of growing a mane. But all the while doing this, he hadn't noticed the lovely honey coloured female till he looked where he was going and suddenly froze where he stood.

Like the male, Malaika was too busy doing something else to notice anyone approaching nearby. It wasn't until he was at the foot of the path that she was on that she noticed him. "Oh!" A short, sharp gasp escaped her throat as her eyes fell on him. "You scared me..." She eventually managed to call out, in a very soft tone of voice.
Having not left her den much at all in her entire life, Malaika hadn't met any other Pride members at all, apart from her family. Her father had always said that there were good lions and lionesses in the Pride, and that she should never be afraid to approach one. She was finding that difficult though, as the male looked rather large, even at a small distance. And of course, the incident with Malaika had knocked her confidence a lot.
Not moving from where she was stood, she shifted her body so that she was facing the dark male head on, so that he couldn't see her dreadful scars.

The lion was dumbstruck for a few moments, oh yes, he'd grown up, but he was still that little cub inside and he was terribly bashful around beautiful female's. And this one certainly filled that part up nicely. He shook himself as he caught himself staring for a few moment's at those silvery blue eye's and he chuckled nervously.
"Oh, heh." What an intelligent starter. "I-I'm sorry I scared you, miss...I...I didn't mean too."
He then watched her as she fidgeted slightly in the darkness, his ears perking forward atop his mane as he moved just a step closer.
"Is something wrong?" He asked curiously, eye's full of soft, cub like innocence as he asked her.

Malaika smiled slightly. The male didn't seem to mean any harm, but it would take a little more courage from herself to move any closer to him. "It's OK." She laughed a little. "I scare too easily anyway..." Her tone of voice remained soft, but her body language suggested that she wasn't completely comfortable.
As the male took a step forward, Malaika took a step back, allowing her backside to cross back into the shadows of the cave, leaving just the front of her in full view. She felt so silly, behaving this way. When she was little, she would've bound towards any stranger with enthusiasm and introduced herself almost immediatly. Things had changed though, and so had she. "No no, nothing's wrong, really!" The last thing she wanted was for him to see the scars on her back and be repulsed by them.

"Oh...uhhmm...ok..." He said softly.
The lion's ears flattened against the cascade of black mane with the one, white streak that chose to be different. He wanted to know what was wrong, but decided deeply against it, seeing as she apparently didn't want to tell or show him.
Kimba then chuckled a little at her earlier comment and looked at her.
"I used to get scared sometimes, but I was afraid of monster's coming out the shadows." He said, ear's perking up as he talked of his cubhood.
When he was really small, he used to be afraid of the dark and of moving shadow's. He always thought it was some sort of monster, or something else...ahh...cubhood.

Malaika nodded, a small smile gracing her face. "I used to be scared of the dark too, but my dad promised he would always protect me..." She trailed off, allowing a more solemn expression to replace her smile as she bit the bottom of her mouth. She remembered that day as clear as anything, when her father promised to protect from everything, especially Mbaya. After Mbaya had attacked her, Mahiri had never stopped apologising for not being there, and although Malaika had never blamed her father, she wondered why she and Auri had been left alone in the den.
Blinking, she tried to push the memories out of her mind, and return her focus to the male. "My name is Malaika, what's yours?"

The lion glanced over her once or twice as she spoke, just to take in her features so he'd remember her at a later time. As she asked for his name he gave a sheepish grin and then cleared his throat slightly, he was always so shy around females.
"I'm Kimba...it's nice to meet you." He said, tail flicking back and forth as he watched her.
Personally...he had no idea what to say, his mind was quite blank and empty. And as it should be with the presence of a nice young female and friend opportunity.

Her smile returning, Malaika bowed her head politely. "Pleased to meet you Kimba..." He was a very handsome male, with eyes in a colour that she had only ever seen on the petals of a couple of flowers.
There was a reletively awkward silence for a few minutes after they had introduced themselves, as Malaika didn't know what to say either. Eventually though, she glanced over her shoulder towards the cave from which she had emerged. "Would you like to come stand in the shade? It's really hot out here and your black coat can't be helping much..."
There was an alterior motive to Malaika's suggestion. If they were both in the shady darkness of the cave, she wouldn't have to try so hard to hide her scars, which would undoubtedly make her feel more comfortable.

He blinked at her word's, glancing up at the sun as it seemed to almost glare down onto his dark brown, almost black, pelt, that made him grumble a little. But he soon turned back to her, blinking a little as if to get the glare of the sun out of his eye's after staring at it for a few moment's. Before he nodded graciously to her.
"Th-thank you, that's very kind." He said softly, before gently padding into the cave, purring a little as the pads of his paws touched the cool stone.
Now this was nice, now he could see why she didn't want to come out. It was nice and cool in here, plus it wasn't so bright as it was outside. All these thoughts rolled through his head, before he turned and looked at her, that soft, warm smile still on his features.
"I-it's very nice, thank's again."

"You're welcome..." As Kimba entered the cave, Malaika carefully moved so that she was facing him head on, before she sat herself down. A slight sigh of relief escaped her throat, as she was sure now that there was no chance of him seeing her scars.
Smiling, she continued to look over the male, without the sun's light hindering her. He was even more handsome up close, and she would've blushed if it were possible. "So Kimba, where abouts in the Pride Lands do you live?"

The older male watched her, ears perked up as he felt that there was still something the lovely lioness was seeming to hide from her. But he didn't aknowledge or question it as he kept smiling at her, purple eye's glancing over her grayish blue one's. She had very nice eye's, one's that he hadn't seen in a while.
Both his parent's had eye's the same colour as his so he never found it too interesting, he liked the colour's of his cousins eye's and his white sister's eye's. But not his really.
As he was asked a question, he cocked his head and smiled at her.
"I live down in the lower den's, that's where I was born." He said happily.

"I was born here too!" Malaika chirped up, before grinning sheepishly. "In the Pride Lands I mean..." She motioned towards the cave's exit. "Our den is a little bit higher up than this, but there's a path leading right down to the bottom..."
Another reletively awkward silence followed. The adolescent had no idea what to say to the adult. Even though it was clear that he was a young adult, she felt rather young in his presence, and was worried about saying something childish or embarassing.
In an effort to break the silence, she pawed at the ground, taking her eyes off the male. "Do you...have any brothers or sisters?"

The lion smiled, he knew she had to be a pridelander, or atleast part of the pride, she had such a lovely coat. Better than his muddy brown one.
During the silence he gave an awkward cough, ear's flattening back in a teenaged way that showed how young he still was at heart. What if he did something stupid? Or she didn't like him? So many things ran through his mind as he watched her.
As she asked another question he smiled.
"I have three sisters and a brother...but...I don't know where he is...what about you?"
