Well, Yasumicon 2006 has ended, and many seemed to have enjoyed it. Thing is, our president, (Anything Goes Anime's president/ Fiu's anime club who runs Yasumicon) is graduating this year and she doesnt seem to want to run it next year, so, as of right now, Yasumicon has ended with this last one.
Myself, Edwin (one of the coordinators of this past Yasumicon) and Manny Camacho, have banded together to try and work out everything for another Yasumicon. We have plans to make it bigger, better, and still keep it free. But we need feedback. We need feedback on previous Yasumicon experiences and feedback on some new ideas we have.
So if you attended Yasumicon 2006, please post your opinions about it here. Also, if curious about our new plans, though we cannot give away too much, and are willing to give feedback. please pm me about that.

As of right now, if we do have another Yasumicon, we are going to try and get Sammy Studios (makers of Darkwatch and Guilty Gear), Atlus (Our Sponsers the last two years, and makers of Disgea, Trauma Center and Makai Kingdom), Treasure Studios (makers of the bleach ds game as well as some others I cant remember), and possibly nintendo for the next Yasumicon game room.
Also, apparently Kaijuu Big Battel wanted to put on a show in Yasumicon, but due to lack of insurance for said event we didnt go with it. We may have them come next year, and if it happens, I may participate in it, as well as help run it. If they dont want to do it, we may put on our own.

Wow, I never knew Atlus was a sponsor... o_o; I hope Nintendo will sponsor for next year, if another Yasumicon will be held! I'd be tempted to go to it, and hope that they will have Trauma Center for the Wii to play on. xD haha
Sorry, I'm just a big fan of Trauma Center for the DS. xP It makes my wrist hurt doing those stitches, but it's fun and innovative. lol ^_^

To me Yasumi 06 was a failure. The new location did not work. I for one have asthma....the smoke from down stairs had me sick for two days. And the con going crowd this year differed just enough to seem of a far lower class the previous years. If you hold it next year PLEASE hold it at FIU. I've been attending since 02. And this was the only one I wish I hadn't gone to.

Next year, if it does happen, wont be at miccosuke for sure. it is to either be held entirely at the radisson hotel or during the day at FIU and at night at the Radisson.

Kagoma_Kage I've been attending since 02. And this was the only one I wish I hadn't gone to.That's kind of hard to do, since it started in '03. On that note, I've been going since the first one and wouldn't miss any of them. The location WAS a bust this year, but I think everyone realized that and will try to change it for the next one. I would hate to see Yasumicon end. Out of all the South Florida conventions that have popped up over the years, Yasumicon is the only one that's persisted and become a success. Ending it would just encourage more little cons like Chibi-Pa and Houkocon to be started, and there's far too many of those as it is. Keep Yasumicon going. South Florida needs it. :p

there are not many cons in miami. i need some cons to be in miami since most of them are up in northern florida and i can't go to those since they are too far away. i've never gone to a con before. i am planning to go to chibi-pa this year hopefully, if my parents are willing to take me. i really think you should keep yasumicon because i've heard it was great and really, how many anime conventions are there in miami? biggrin

Yasumicon and Kunicon. Yasumicon is still active. Kunicon we do not speak of.

I enjoyed Yasumicon alot, and the only flaw that I can think of is the location. It was too smoky for my liking but everything else was awesome!! Plus, this is really the only con that is close enough for me to go to. I definatly think that there should be an '07!!! smile

Seeing as it was my first there I'm not sure I really do have much to say except I did have fun and would like more cons in South Florida. I went to Kunicon I think last year in 05.. I think it was last year and it was um yeah blah. But Yasumicon(still can't spell it with out looking it up stare ) was a blast and I wish I was able to go both days instead of just one for like 5 hours. crying I hope there is one next year that way I won't just be going to Houkocon(which I have to since I'm a staffer sweatdrop fun)
Oh and the dealer room was AWESOME heart heart heart heart much much much better than the few I've been to. whee~ blaugh heart
