Jakobo Guilds Due to the nature of the guild system (purchasing a guild, donations, join fees), the Gaia Guild Network will be disabled during the first part of the rollback period. When GGN does come online, all gold related functionality will fail. Should guild owners wish to have members join their guild, but there is a join fee, it is reccomended the guild leader remove this requirement during the period where all economy-related functions are disabled. The Scavenger Hunt is put on hold this weekend pending the downtime, since the admins didn't see fit to post a timeframe. I apologize...once guilds have gone down and come back up, we'll dust ourselves off and go from there. Razzafrazzin' glitch exploiters.... scream

Hah. I tried sending an invite to Wesley Gibson and it failed because gold is disabled and we have a 1 gold join fee. I tried disabling that, and it wouldnt' do it.
We aren't getting an ANYONE for the time being.

Lanzer says four day rollback period in his announcement. All glitched accounts will be rolled back to May 9. Am I alone in thinking that was a particularly weak-assed glitched and they're getting all up in arms over what amounts to nothing? With my glitched account, I was getting one gold perclick however, posting gold had fallen dramatically so it should have at least offset a goodly sum of what could've been earned/stolen.

The problem was caused by a handful of users who botted during the glitch and gave themselves upwards of 20k-1 million gold. They proceeded to use it to buy out rare items in the marketplace and then relist them for exorbiant prices. Essentially, they were in the process of self-crashing the Gaian economy.
If they'd caught it days ago, before the gold became disseminated into the Gaian community, there would not have been a problem.

They may as well shut down the whole damned site while fixing this mess. Take advantage of the time and straighten out a few other things while they're at it.

I was kinda surprised guilds are still up, after reading the announcement.
I dunno exactly what tey think this will do to repair the economy. It's seriously fuX0red and from what I've seen, Gaians don't particularly like to drop the prices of items.

Unfortunately, Gaia runs on a live script. If the site is offline, it cannot be worked on.

From what I've read from the Gaiaconomists, really, the ONLY way to control prices will be either a controlled rerelease of items, or more 'knockoff' releases.

Basically. The fabled "purple box" or what have you.
I don't really buy the idea that knock-offs work. AFK/OMG have skyrocketed, but BTK/OMFG are worth less than folks are charging for sealeds. The Butterfly Mantilla knocked down the Fairy Wings market price, but only by 1, *maybe* 2k. I think the reason for that tho is that fairy wings will ALWAYS be 40k, AFK/OMG will only continue to rise in price, so people can be cavalier about getting Fairy Wings while having a perfectly decent substitute in the meantime.
The best thing for folks to do is simply *NOT* buy items. Granted, there's NO way to control that, but if folks refuse to pay 30mil for minis, folks will be forced to sell the price. All that's going to happen now is that a few letter hoarders will make a ton off their '03s, and everyone else will cling for dear life to their items, knowing that they'll NEVER be able to afford them if they sell.
