Mtima'safi was back in the Pridelands after leaving to visit the Mistweaver lands, and thus was in her mortal guise. Her wings were hidden from other mortals, and she was laying quite comfortably by a rock in the afternoon sun. The land with the rainforest was beautiful, but she still had some greater attraction to the Pridelands.

She yawned and stretched out her legs, wiggling her toes. It was nice to just relax!

Shantanu banked to her right, letting the warm air pass over her wings as she turned. Wheeling around and flapping her wings to gain height she peered at the ground with sharp, warm eyes. Already this search was taking her far longer then she had thought. She had met all sorts of creatures from snakes to leopards, but not the lioness she saught. Avian reserve kept her from sighing as she flitted lower to the ground.

She caught sight of a lioness of yellow coloring. Instantly her interest was perked. The person she looked for would probably be of a warm color such as that, if her thoughts were right. Somehow her gut feeling was that this wasn't her, but it didn't hurt to check. Swooping down she landed lightly in the grass before the lioness, hopping lightly on her feet, "Hello there."

The arrival of the bird caught Mtima off guard in her sleepy state. Other birds had been in the sky and had only passed over, but something now had stopped to talk to her. She opened her blue and gold eyes a crack to find a small creature sitting before her in the grass, and immediately she cracked a smile. This wasn't a bad creature, and she had an interesting look to her.

"Hello," she greeted in a hushed voice, lifting her head up before increasing her volume a bit, "Who might you be?" Her tone was quite friendly.

Tanu was glad this lioness chose to be friendly. So many good mannered people she had met of late! She smiled in a birds way, more with her eyes since changes in her beak were hard to notice. She was calm and relaxed, despite being face to face with a huge predator. Pulling her body up straight and ruffling her brown feathers primly she murmured, "I am called Shantanu. Tanu, if you please. How about you?" Her voice was deep and mature for a female, giving her almost a motherly air. It almost made you want to see her among a flock, encouraging nestlings along.

Mtima's eyes brightened at the smile from the avian, and because of the lovely tone of voice she spoke with. She couldn't help but think how brighter colors would suit the little bird better, but the eyes were pleasing enough.

"I am Mtima'safi," she introduced herself with a smile, lifting her head proudly, "Mtima, if you prefer, Tanu. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Tanu was very much content with her plumage. She wasn't a firey bird, nor a vein one. Her colors suited her perfectly. She was calm and warm, open to others and firmly rooted in her own beliefs. But then, since the lioness didn't actually mention the subject such thoughts were not on her mind currently.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Mtima," she crooned with a sweep of her wings. She fanned out her tail as she settled herself. Her quick avian heart was pulsing like a drum as always, giving her the energy to take flight if she needed it. But she didn't believe she would and she was rather comfortable where she was.

The thoughts of the avian's feathers passed and she smiled. She watched the avian fan out her feathers and settle in, giving a nod to show she was more than welcome to do so. "What brings you to this particular spot?" she asked curiously, glancing up to the sky, "Many other birds have passed by this afternoon."

"I'm looking for someone," Tanu confessed simply. Her tone wasn't distressed or worried, though, so it couldn't have been urgent. Not that she didn't want to find the lioness, to be sure. But her flock nor the person in question were safe from danger, so it wasn't a matter that needed to be rushed. "It's someone of desert herritage...probably their mother or grandmother being from that place. Might you have met someone with such a past?" she asked hopefully.

"Oh?" Mtima tilted her head at the mention of a search, though she did note the tone in which the avian spoke. There was little urgency to the matter, by the sound of it. She straightened her head and let Tanu finish.

"I've met no one from the desert, to my knowledge," she replied, sounding somewhat apologetic, "What does this creature look like? Perhaps I could keep an eye out."

"Since I haven't met her for myself, I'm afraid can not tell you," Tanu said regretably. It really was a shame, but she didn't have much information to go by. So she didn't expect that anyone could help her, beyond directing her to other lions to question. But she had no doubt she'd finish her search sooner or later. "She might be of hues of gold or orange...though of that I can't be certain, though it is the color of her herritage." She shifted, withholding a sigh with her avian composure. She wasn't really disappointed, for she hadn't expected much of a clue.

She listened carefully to what the bird said, a curious expression on her face. Tanu was seeking one she'd never before met, with so little information that all she knew was the desert was in her blood. The goddess only hoped the one the avian searched for knew of this heritage, it would make the quest that much easier if she did find her.

"There are many lions of gold and orange around here, if it's a lion you're looking for," she commented with an apologetic tone, "Is there a name to listen for, maybe?"

Tanu shook her head gravely, "I'm afraid not." It was a very hard matter to explain. She knew the lioness she searched for existed, and that somewhere in her family tree there was another lioness from the land which Tanu had called home, but that was it. Nothing else was set in stone. There was no name to give nor a clear description. It was like searching for a single berry in a clump of bushes.

"I know, such a foolish errand it must seem," she cooed with a smile at the lioness before her. "But I suppose I'm putting more faith in my instincts then anything else."

Mtima'safi frowned when Tanu said there was no name to listen for either. It would prove difficult to help without any description beyond desert heritage and possibly gold or orange. The avian would have to be on her own in the search, unless there were others helping that had the same knowledge as Tanu. As easy as it was to explain you had no physical description and no name, there was more to what you knew that was harder to explain. Instinct would have to be a big part of her search.

"Then I'm sorry I could not be of any help, Tanu," she said, smiling once again, "If you know what you seek, I'm sure you will find it. It's not foolish to trust your instincts." She was one to look at the bright side of situations, and since there seemed little urgency in the matter there was no need to think pessimistically even in the slightest.

Shantanu nodded, fanning out her tail absently. She tended to take the brighter view of things in life as well, simply because she found it to be a waste of energy to worry about things that weren't within your control. "Thank you anyway," she told the lioness warmly. She loosened her wings, standing up on her thing, light feet. "I'm sure I will...thank you for the encouragement." With a jump she caught an undraft and allowed her form to fly upward into the air. She didn't stray away just yet, but it was obvious she was ready to go back to her search within moments.

"As long as you don't give up, you'll find them," she nodded, smiling up at the bird as she prepared to take off. Perhaps it was also time for her to get a move on, do something other than sleeping out in the sun. She got to her feet and stretched her legs, "It was a pleasure to meet you, Shantanu. I hope to see you again sometime."
