Oh my God!!!! My school is basically going to have no marching band next year!!!! Because our school is so poor, we now have to cut our directors down to 1 (right now we have 2). So the upperclassmen bands will have o go during different hours. Which means no more marching band class!!! The only time we're going to be able to practice is on Tuesday nights!!!
What do you think? I think I'm gonna go in the corner and cry now crying crying

I'm sorry... what school do you go to? that really does sux but I would do anything just to have practice one day a week... we practice Monday, Tuseday, and Thursday nights, plus football games on fridays, and competitions (and practices) on saturdays... plus the week before our first competition, upper state and state we have week-long practices...

I dunno what I'd do if I didn't have marching band... it's like.. my life during summer.
Starting the week after school gets out, we have 5 days a week, 7 hour rehearsals.. until July 20th.
it's great though, really.

YOU'rE BAND CAMP RUNS THAT LONG?! eek Mine starts the third week of July.

Lomedraug I'm sorry... what school do you go to? that really does sux but I would do anything just to have practice one day a week... we practice Monday, Tuseday, and Thursday nights, plus football games on fridays, and competitions (and practices) on saturdays... plus the week before our first competition, upper state and state we have week-long practices... I'm in Michigan...poorest state in the country right now scream (don't get me started on that). Yeah practices are hard, but most of my friends and my boyfriend are in band so they're super fun^^!

Just so you know, we're still going to band camp (although it's at a different place this year) and we still have the band, it just won't be a class anymore cry (which was the best part).

i know how you feel we used to have 2 but then had budget cuts...we didnt have marching band class to begin w/ but still we have band
we had 2 then they cut it to 1 who quit so we got a whole new director...and she's da bomb! xd

holy crap, i would cry if there was no marching band....
i'm a senior, and it is soooooooooooooooo the only thing that i'm going to miss about high school. i love it more than everything.

I'm not going to get you started on that cause I have no clue on where SC ranks... anyways, I'd probably die without marching band cause I grew up going with the band everywhere (dad was a band director for most of my childhood)... lol most of my friends are either in the band or once were in the band but dropped out... (slackers!) my boyfriend's also in the band tho he's in a different school's band crying ...but anyways...

I would die. I would just die. We're pretty poor too, but I guess we're still allowed to have Band as a class. If they ever did I'd propose a sit-in. But anyway, I'm sorry that you don't have it anymore as a class. We only have marching band from August 9th until football season is over (don't ask me when that is). We're too poor to compete.

Well...In my case, there is no marching band at my school, or any nearby that i know of... but I am a member of a local marching band...and all is well. Canadien eh... I guess in the USA, you don't have local bands?

^No, I wish we did though. All marching bands are through schools except for professional and military ones.

Someone's mom from my band decided to sue my band director/school because she thinks that he's using the funds for himself. Honestly, he doesn't need the money at all! Anyways, I dunno what's going down for next marching season, but I know we're still competing because he already picked out our closer, and probably the other two songs. Honestly, if you don't like the director, take your frickin kid outta band! I hate the both of them!!! scream
