Jade's off at her first day of kindergarten.

And I'm like.. what do I do now?? Do I do something productive like clean the house? Do I do something exciting that I've been longing to do for 5 years? I feel guilty that I'm home with nothing to do.

We got up wayyyyy ahead of time just in case it took her a long time to wake up/get ready, but she woke up fully after only a couple minutes. So we had plenty of time to get dressed and ready, make sure she had everything, eat breakfast, watch cartoons... Tomorrow maybe we'll get ready a half hour later.

There was a difficult snag last night though! She went to bed at 8pm, but woke up at 10:30 saying her tummy hurt and she felt like throwing up. Jason got up with her (since that's before his normal bedtime anyway) and she was up a half hour throwing up a lot, and then she went back to sleep and felt fine this morning! I don't know if it was nerves, or something she ate, but I'm so glad she felt ok this morning or she would have missed her first day(s) of school!

I wouldn't be surprised if it was nerves. I was like that for most of my Grade school years--before the first day, before tests, before picture day, etc. As long as she felt fine this morning.

Take the day off, you finally have a few hours to not be Mommy, enjoy it.

hang out on Gaia and stalk the marketplace

wander through eBay (can be expensive)

read blogs of friends, strangers and strange people

adopt a gopet

paint, draw or color

clean house (not an option I EVER choose)

catch up on reading

download Yahoo instant messenger (or Trillian) and type at friends

I'm sure I can think of others if none of these are to your liking 3nodding

Oh..

I am SURE Jade is having a blast.

But as soon as she sees Mommy at the end of the day, be prepared to be knocked flat! The impact is amazing from someone that size!

LOL @ *whoooOOooot*!! cheese_whine

Enjoy the sudden silence... while it lasts. All too soon, you'll get accustomed to it, start using the time for things you enjoy doing and end up with the "Rats! Time to get the kid(s) - already??!" syndrome! Although I am not going through that experience with my kids (5yrs & 3.5yrs old) this year, I remember the total and utter shock last year when I suddenly had 3 hours to myself in the morning! It was great! wink

I was like that too at first fawN. Toni went off for her first day and I came home after putting her on the bus and was confused lol. I didn't know what to do with myself, but now, I love having the whole day to myself. I can take a nap, clean up, watch actual TV that doesnt consist of spongebob and the fairlyoddparents 3nodding Its very nice!! Not that I mind spongebob, its just nice to see something non animated or computer generated sweatdrop

LOL! Now that Jade's back, guess what's on tv! o/~ Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? o/~ rofl

I finally remembered I have all these movies I've been wanting to watch in peace, so I laid on the couch and watched My Best Friend's Wedding. Tomorrow I'm sticking in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants which I looked for for today but couldn't find. Jason told me where to find it for tomorrow though.

Her day went pretty well, but not without a noteable glitch.. the first thing she told me when she came off the bus (the ONLY one at her stop? How did that happen? There were 5 this morning!) was that she got left on the bus and cried. Apparently when she arrived at school and all the other kids got off, she wasn't sure what to do because she didn't recognize the windows of the school as being the same one she saw yesterday. So she cried, and the bus driver found her and led her to her classroom.

She said the rest was good. They read a story, and she made a picture with yarn hair. The ONLY other kid she knows there from preschool actually wasn't there today (I wonder why?) although we saw her yesterday at the Back to School Hour. And she came home with loads of paperwork for me to read and sign. sweatdrop Man, have they gotten stricter on playground rules since I was a kid? I remember hanging from my knees without holding on, jumping off swings, and even doing cherry drops, all of which are strictly forbidden now. stare

Oh yes ALOT of things have changed. Though where I went to school was a lot different than where Toni goes. THe things she can and cant wear to school astound me, though honestly, I can see where they're coming from. But what harm can a tank top do stare

I think the difference on the playground is due to the lawyer to everybodyelse ratio.

Back when you, and further back when I were/was a kid, our parents would have treated an injury from doing one of those things as "that's what kids do" or "accidents happen" However now *opinion coming* regardless of how something happened, people like to find someone to blame. "why weren't you watching?" "why did you let them do that?"

Sort of like the diffference in Happy Meal toys here and the U.K. (or so I have heard. Here we have special "under three" toys available)

yes - the degradation of "life" into the ongoing game of "who can we blame" and "shirking our own responsibility" is deplorable, imho. Let's hope things start improving from here instead of dipping further down before the inevitable climb upwards...

Angel had her first day of school today too! She did great! We took her in at 7:30 this morning so she could have breakfast... then we walked her to her classroom. When we went to pick her up and the first thing she told us was that she didn't go to the office. xd

I've still got one left though... and she's still got another 2-3 years. She may not start school until she's 6 though because of the way her birthday falls. Well... she'll most likely turn 6 a couple months after she starts. So I'm stuck with Spongebob, Diego, Dora, Jimmy, and Cosmo and Wanda and goodness knows who else... for a little while longer. But that's ok though... because that's most likely what I'd be watching if they weren't here rofl
