Yes please!

The only issue is, I'm not entirely sure what to get! I definitely need a new guitar amp, for multiple perposes. THis means its got to be versitile. And the fact that I need to to cut through a live drummer means I need the power as well.

Soooo

I'm throwing it out to you guys - does ANYONE have ANY suggestions for a new guitar amp for me, that won't completely bust my wallet's balls? I'm talking an absolute MAX of 500 USD. I want it as bang-for-the-buck as I can get it.

Also, It doesn't need to be out of this world good, just be able to two two things for me - give me good clean sound up to a reasonable amount for jazz playing with a drummer, and give me a good crunch (or at least be able to work well with my pedals to give me a good metal sound.

I know I'm being awefully vague and flaky, but its been a long day, so forgive me.

But let's hear some opinions anyway.

So to summarize:

1) Be able to cut through a drummer in a loud band environment (METAL, and HARD ROCK band!)

2) Give me a good clean sound, as well as a good crunch, or the ability to mingle well with effects

3) decent price

Try a VOX, I tried the smallest one today and it blew me off. Only 70 bucks and not tube and it sounded damn good for the price. try one of the big ones. Or try getting a Peavey very good for Metal.

i have Rogue GS-100 watt that is suprisingly good. Also check out crates, they are nice for the price. I think klinton is happy with his drive bass amp, so maybe check them out too.

I'd say go for a peavey ValveKing 112 or if you can afford it the 212. Very nice amps; I have played them at my local music store and they've got some seriously nice tones.

Wish I could help, but I can't. My only amp is the one that came with my guitar. However, I will sit back and look at other peopel's opinions! xd

Heres a question for anyone who knows the answer: Generally how much wattage is required by amps to be able to combat with a live drummer? I reallize you wont need as much wattage with tube amps, so please specify both if you can.

I am told that 50w will get you heard but 100 will do it better. It really depends on the kind of music, how hard the drummer plays and how quiet the guitarist plays. It is also said that the bass player should have 3 times as much power as the guitar player just to be heard. Unless you have a loud bass player like mine, that is!

Anyway, I would go atleast 100 watts solid state.

Yeah I was thinkin 100-120w solid state.

How would 50 do, all tube?

That would be good enough, and I guess it also depends on the drums, how loud they sound, becase i've head of of people playing 30 watt with drums, but I couldn't heat my old amp wiht my drummer, that's why I bought that 100 watt solid state. I didn't have enough for a Tube. But the 50 watts of tube will be goo enough man.

You have to take into account the music that you are playing too. Also, you shouldn't need 100w SS, I've played over a drummer with 30w SS.

We plan on playing pretty heavy stuff, so it needs to be fairly loud. I think I might try the 50 watts of tube if i can get the money by the deadline i have to meet. If not, I'll find a decent SS around 100watts.

Sounds like a good plan. Line6 is supposed to be quite good. I've been told it works well with pedals, even though it's clean channel is supposed to leave alot to be desired by the way of warmth. But then again, they are modelling amps.

Well it seems the plans have changed. . . rather than me trying to start a metal band like i had originally planned, me and another couple buddies are going to form a Ska-punk band with me on guitars and them on horns, with the same bassist. . . so im going to need to have a pretty good clean channel as well. . .

I think i might get a Carvin. . .

You could look at the Fender amps. Everyone knows how cool the Fender clean sound is, especially with some spring reverb. cool
