I have a confession and question. I.., er, download music. And this is one thing I have no Biblical take on [other than possibly the 8th commandment *cough*]. So, the debate being, is downloading music, alright, or ne?
i r vote "HEATHEN". cool

Are you wondering if it is stealing? I don't know I don't download music. I guess if it is free it shouldn't be considered stealing.

I say it's on the head of the 'guy' who made it "free". But, meh.

I have a difficult time feeling guilt about downloading music I wouldn't buy otherwise, especially when the only reason not to is that It's one less gallon of Gas in the guys YACHT.
And if you're defining stealing, then what is $17 for a piece of plastic?

Personally, I couldn't get over the guilt of feeling like I was stealing so I stopped. My husband and brother also looked up some laws about copying cds. Apparently, it's okay to copy a cd for someone as long as you are present when it is copied.

I don't download music but my friends burn me CDs and give them too me. And I put my CDs on my computer and burn CDs for others every now and then...But I use to do it all the time without even thinking twice and I felt guilty so now I just do it sparingly. But I don't know if that makes it right either. I was never sure if it was really stealing or not...Sorry not much help. sweatdrop

You go to an Air Conditioned Studio for a few days a year, sing into a piece of metal until it sounds good, leave a bunch of peopel to put it together, ad get a few million dollars. -or- Work ten hours a day at a Grease Pit, over fryers and an unforgiving grill, kill your back, wish you had at least a fan, pray for a 15 cent an hour raise, maybe some medicxal benefits, and hope that your Gas Tank and Ramen Supply will last until your next paycheck, and that maybe, just maybe you can get some money deposited in your checking so that you can cover what tuition your Scolorship doesn't cover in the two weeks until school starts. Effort, you say? I got effort. I'm not getting my million dollar check for it.

The restaurant business does not give its employee a grand total of money [as for example a holder would]. More play a part than the musician(s). The recorder for instance. The restaurant has its owner(s), he/ she (they) gain the money, and pay for employment as it is his/ her (their) business. You the employee would be much to the effect of recorder (recorder for sake of example above). Of course you are not earning the money for which the holders of the restaurant would/ do. Or same for musician to recorder. I could elaborate more if needed. Your example is mute.

Unfortunately, there is a lot more that goes into fame then what you mentioned and I don't envy famous people no matter how big a pay cheque. Integrity is part of doing the right thing when no one is looking (except of course God- He's always looking). So stealing doesn't have that much weight when you know you can get away with no consequences. When you can't afford the music, the temptation is greater. I know what that's like. I have done my time at cleaning toilets, mopping floors, making meals, cleaning dishes, etc., as a job in other people's homes. It's not fun and the pay barely pays the bills. At any job I do, I work at it with my all as if it were for Jesus.

As in no audio? you mean, on an internet forum, that only translates text, not audio, you can't hear me? How odd... but, back to teh point(please try not to skip topic like that again!), if as you say these people deserve teh money for not doing jack, then what point were you getting at by saying this? Skiddishfit Effort defines value. Not material. Effort. Not funding.

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not going to play the testosterone game with you... rolleyes Material has value according to the tasked effort required in oaring for example. Also the distributing, also the content. I'm sure there is more. It is not the musicians who gain the exampled $17 for the CD...
