Tommy awakens with a start, a scream caught somewhere between his lungs and the duplex around him. He shivers some, bathed in a cold sweat. Swinging his legs over the side of the bed, he does his best to get his feet into his leather sandals.
.oO(Goddamn...dizzy...gotta get some air)
Tommy is so delirious right now that he doesn't even notice the yellow post-it note still affixed to his forehead.
With a loud bang, Tommy's door flings open and the feverish cadet stumbles outside. He grimaces against the morning light, but in his feverish state, decides to press on.
After nearly killing himself trying to get down his stairs, he finally reaches level ground.

Alec shuffled his rubbery feet out of the underbrush and down the path encircling and endless rows of duplexes. Broad head was angled downwards to prevent the glare of the filtered sun from striking his sensitive black pupils, though he still has to squint considerably. His morning jaunt around the jungle had accidently been drawn out a little too long, the teen being forced to stumble a hasty retreat to his duplex before the afternoon heat began sapping the moisture from his skin.
In his disorientation, he didn't hear or see the dizzy form of Tommy as he left his own duplex and came into a head-on collision as a result.

Tommy's not sure what happened just then. But one thing he does want to know is: the license plate of the truck that just hit him. With a grunt, Tommy goes down in a heap of sandals, cadet, shark, and vine.
Tommy just lays there for a moment, trying to figure out through his fuzzy mind if anything was hurt. And that's when the pain began. The cadet just lays there, writhing in agony and clutching his hands together to his chest.
.oO(Goddamnit! What the ********!? God, I think I broke my hand...)

Ufortunately the shark boy had tumbled backwards from the impact and ended up landing square on his line of stiff, jagged fins sending a jolt of pain up his spine. Although annoying, the landing only provided a brief sting that he quickly recovered from. "Uhh..." The teen let out a groan, rubbing his back as best he could as he came to his senses to see what exactly he'd run in to.
The sight of the writhing Tommy was enough to get Alec to his feet as he rushed over in a wave of guilt and panic. "Aw man, 'am sorreh!" Alec grimaced, holding out his hands but not daring to touch him. "Ye ekay?!" At first he thought he'd really broken the man's bones but even as he thrashed, he could see the lengthy digits and unnatural form of his face, now obvious.

Tommy begins breathing heavily through gritted teeth, not yet noticing the plight his hands are in. Before Alec's black eyes, he can virtually see every bone and muscle in Tommy's hands and fingers begin to shift and stretch.
Fluttering down, off of his forehead is Sabin's note:
"Congradulations, Tommy!
You won our little game! And now... for your reward.
~ Dr. Duvert "<********..." Tommy seethes, as he tries to stand. He seems to be having trouble with that too, however, as his feet start to look...well, just not right. His eyes, still tightly closed from the pain, make this job no easier.

"Ay, take 'i easeh!" Alec interjected, finally grabbing onto Tommy's arm in an attempt to steady him. He knew very well what was going on, seeing the changes occur before his eyes similar to other situations in the past. It never got any easier to stomach.
The bright colour of the fluttering note caught his attention but he made an effort to focus more on helping Tommy at the moment. "Neh neh, ye shoul' si' down." He mumbled sternly as if directing a drunken friend to a safer spot to pass out. He didn't to relax, at least until the changes stopped.

With his changing feet, pain fogged mind, and Alec's grip, Tommy had no choice but to sit back down. "Dear...God...what's happ..." the words die in his throat as realization comes crashing down on him. Tommy's eyes snap open and watch as his hands continue to grow longer...and longer...and longer. All the while, his front teeth slowly grow out to become razor sharp fangs, his ears pull up and deform, and his bottom lip seems to almost completely splits in half.
During this entire scene, Tommy's now watering eyes never waver from his hands. It is obvious that he's in a great deal of pain mostly due to the uncontrollable trembling, but his hands have locked his mind into shock.
"Oh...s**t..." He barely whispers.

Alec remembered something on television about seizure patients but for the life of him couldn't recall what to do with them to help. Instead he thumped back down onto his rump nearby Tommy, watching in mute silence and waiting for the pain to subside. There wasn't much he could do, in his opinion, and the helplessness only made him feel worse as he became an onlooker to his suffering.
"It'll be oveh soon." Was all he could manage to say, though his voice was so quiet and lacking in determination that he couldn't imagine it would be of any help.

Tommy's tremmors subside soon enough. His breathing becomes ragged and his skin pales. Though Alec may not know much about seizures, he more than likely knows what a guy about to throw up looks like. The cadet shakes his head, trying to clear the sudden nausia, before looking to Alec. He opens his mouth to say something, but instead of words, up comes every solid bit of food he still had in his stomach. Tommy falls forward and plants his enormous hands down in front of him with head pointed to the ground so that the vomit won't get all over Alec.

He considered emitted the nervous laughter that was buiding up inside, but for the time being Alec merely shuffled his behind a little ways away from the vomitting Tommy. Glad to see that he was generally alright (seeing as spewing chunks wasn't exactly life-threatening, in his opinion), the irish teen could breathe a sigh of relief for the moment. "Well... thas betteh th'n passin' ou' a s'pose." He snickered amusedly, making sure to keep a fair distance away.
"Welc'me teh th'changed life."

Leaning over what looks to be the remnants of a speghetti dinner, Tommy spits a few times to clear his mouth before leaning back, back, back, and finally just laying down in the dirt. He doesn't say anything for a moment, just stares up at the blue sky and fluffy white clouds.
Tommy hears the snickering, hears Alec's words, and for a moment he is filled with hate for the young tree-shark. His left eye twitches a few times as he mentally balls up all of his current emotions and hatred, stuffs it into a lock box, and drops it down the well of his mind where it will surely leak out and poison the water. All that Tommy's left with is an empty hole, ready to be filled with whatever comes in these next few moments.
Finally, he speaks, "Alec...what...am I?" he whispers, almost pleadingly. His speech sounds a bit garbled coming out of his mutant looking mouth.

Alec picked at the grass that so closely resembled the ugly foliage attached to his legs, picking and picking until they were shredded into something unrecognizably green. He shouldn't have made a mockery of the serious situation but the teenager was much too unaware to know that what he was doing was inappropriate. It didn't hit him as something that just changed a man's life, to him it was another disgusting act by the devil in the labcoat. Why could he do? Cry? Pity? Useless.
He didn't know what to say at first as he stared at the many awkward additions to Tommy's features, the elongated fingers, splits lips and beaver-like teeth were misleading. He didn't want to stter him wrong and then again, he didn't want to say nothing at all. Then again, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't gather the limited knowledge to peice together a likely answer for what animal he was mirroring.
"A man." The shark boy ended up answering honestly and matter-of-factly at the same time. That's what he was, anyways regardless of appearance.

Tommy's eyes close and reopen slowly, and he can be seen to visibly relax. That's what he needed to hear. .oO(That's right, I'm still a man...I'm...no matter what they do to me. I'm still me...that's right, a man...still me, that's right...)
"But I know what they want me to be...oh yes...a monster..." Tommy's hands clutch weakly at the ground as he tries to pull himself up. He gets it eventually and stares at Alec. That grim determination, that fire in his eyes that Alec saw before on the beach is back. The American shakes his head slowly, a slight grin on his face, "But we know who the real monster is here...don't we?"

Alec watched the military man slowly sit up, the flexing of his spindly digits drew his curiousity. He hadn't thought about whether to say the "right thing" or not, he had merely spoken what had come to mind. Because of this, Tommy's new expression momentarily caught him off-guard. A sinking feeling hit the pit of his stomach as if that vampiric stare had been a sentence to death, his own senses rousing a tingling in his jaw tat he couldn't quite explain.
It was that stare that seemed to calm him at the same time, peering through a window into Tommy's very thoughts. Yes. He knew that answer. It was clear by Alec's expression, a malice that would never have been expected from a person like him. "Ye..." Such a sneer. Was this the shark talking?

"That's right, Alec..." Tommy moves his stare to his current surroundings, to the duplexes, to the labs off in the distance, as if taking it all in for the first time, "...that's right."
That gaze finally finds itself back to Alec. His grin now almost demented. He speaks very slowly and carefully, enunciating each and every word so that it won't get garbled in his messed up lips. "Back at the beach...you said you didn't want to try. You didn't want to take the dive. I'm askin' again...Alec...do you want to take the dive?"
Thoughts swarmed through Tommy. Thoughts he would never have dreamed of back home. Thoughts of hurting others...thoughts of murder.
