It was just another day for the heir to the Kusini lands. As usual, he was skirting the borders of the lands that were destined to be his. He was checking to make sure that all was well and that nothing and no one who was uninvited was coming into his lands.

Finding that everything was peaceful as usual, the large lion found a nice outcropping of boulders and decided to take a nice rest. Once he had reached them, he leaped upon the boulders and settled down on his belly, the warmth from the rocks warming the lion instantly.

Sighing contendedly, he rested his head on his paws and merely looked out over the lands. Life was good for the to-be king.

The silver eyed snake slithered along, a little ways from home, but he had a reason. He wanted to get Nyoka a gift. Last night he spoke with a bird, and what they spoke remained inside of him. His family came first, perhaps he didn't journey for knowledge, but for a love. The snake smiled as his body absorbed teh heat of the ground he traveled.

His tongue flicked again and again, a scent was caught. He found it similiar to those in the Pride Lands, a lion. Due to his ever wanting to know curiousity he wanted to see the lion. Quickly he slithered along until he came to alarge rock structure. Mkarag flicked his tongue again, he was up there. Slowly he slipped along the rocks and popped his head over the edge, eyes meeting. "Hello." he said, a little shocked by being face to face with a creature much larger than he.

Tamu had never really seen a snake before. He'd seen birds flying about some days, and he'd seen plenty of prey animals such as antelope and wildebeest, but never before had he seen such a creature, one with no legs and a tongue that popped out of its mouth every few seconds.

So when the big lion came face to face with this tiny thing that looked like it had no ears and no limbs... well, he was quite confused.

"Uhm... hi?" he replied uneasily, wondering just what on earth this creature could be. But he didn't want to seem rude or anything. After all, this thing had only said hi, and here he was, stammering and tripping over himself so to speak.

"Oh, uhm, I'm sorry. My name is Tamu-jitu, or just Tamu for short. May I ask your name?" he asked politely, lowering his head so that he could sort of look the snake in the eyes.

Mkarag noticed his confusion and he put it up to him to tell, "My name'ss Mkaragaro, Mkarag if you please. I am a snake, a reptile." he explained draing his body into a coil, sitting himself. "I ventured from the Pride Landss to find my mate a nice gift of ssort." he answered three questions; who he was, what he was, and what he was doing here.

"Well, I ssee that a large feline asss yoursself have mannerss. Give one'ss name before assking for another'ss. It iss my pleassure to meet you, Tamu." Mkarag spoke, dipping his head slightly as a bow. He respected those with proper manners higher than others, Tamu was one of them.

A snake? That's what this thing was? Though he supposed he couldn't really call it a thing so much, being as it could talk and had a name and everything.

When Mkarag mentioned that he had traveled from the Pridelands in search of a gift for his mate, the lion blinked and thought. Pridelands... that was the place that his sister's mate was from, wasn't it? That seemed a little far for a snake to travel. After all, the snake was rather small. But he supposed that he couldn't judge a creature simply on its size.

"Oh, well are you looking for anything in particular? I could help if you wish, I'm not doing anything at the moment," he offered politely, as was his way.

When the snake mentioned that Tamu had manners, he couldn't help but smile sheepishly. "Oh, well, I've always been like that. I figure that if I'm nice to someone then they should be nice to me. It doesn't always work, but at least I try, right?" He smiled slightly before continuing on. "Oh, it's my pleasure, really. It's nice to meet a new and friendly face."

"Not really, ssomething sshe might like, perhapss." he replied, not knowing exactly what he was looking for rather just looking. He traveled a great distance and now that he was here, he didn't know what to do. At least he had this lion to help him out.

"Well, if resspect iss sshown, then resspect sshould returned." he replied. "Thosse who do not, sshould learn to." he hissed. He didn't like those who showed no respect, he tried to put up with them but it usually end up badly. "Likewise, Tamu." he smiled, the scales above his eyes rising slightly.

Tamu thought for a moment. What sort of things might snakes like? He had never met one before today, and so he hadn't the slightest clue on what they might like as a gift.

"Hm... well, I'm not sure what snakes like, to be honest. But I'm still more than happy to help you look for anything. I know the lands, if it halpes any." Yes, he could act as a guide to this snake and help him find something. He could take him to a river or some place and perhaps Mkaragaro could find something there.

"Yeah, I think that's how it should be. But not everyone is polite, it seems." He wondered why not everyone showed respect. Was it just nature in some lions and other creatures to be viscious and just plain mean? Thinking of this made him think of his brother, Denahi. Hmph, he hadn't seen that devil in ages. The lion hoped his brother was somewhere far away, where he wouldn't be able to harm anyone in their family.

"Anyways... do you want to go anywhere in particular? Like.. a watering hole or..." He just randomly started throwing ideas out, hoping the snake would agree to one.

"It iss one's nature. To be mean, cruel, and evil or to be nice, kind, and caring." he said as he started down the rock. "You're knowledge will be very handy. If you think you see somethin you'd like, point it out."

"The watering hole sounds like a nice place to start." the blue snake hissed softly. Who knows what can show up near its waters. Mkarag was looking for something that would be kept around their den as a token of love. Something that would look nice to see day to day.

Tamu nodded, agreeing with the snake. It seemed that some people were just automatically nice or mean or evil or whatever else. It was just the way nature worked, he supposed, and it couldn't always be changed. He sighed, thinking it would be better if it were easier to change bad things such as mean lions and such.

But he had something more important to think about right now, like helping this kind creature.

"Well, there are flowers, but those normally die after a while without being in the ground." He paused to think for a moment. Flowers were the most logical thing, but if this snake was to head back to the Pridelands, then he'd need something more sturdy than a simple flower.

"Maybe a nice rock? I've heard that there are absolutely beautiful rocks in some places. I've never seen any myself but.." Cutting himself off, he nodded again at Mkaragaro. "Of course, the watering hole it is! Want a ride?" he offered, meaning that he'd carry the snake to help them travel faster. He didn't know how fast snakes could... do whatever it is they do, but he didn't think it could go any faster than a lion.

Mkarag smiled, "Then we must find the best rock there is!" he shouted confidently, "No need to carry me, Tamu." he grinned and almost instantly disappeared into the grass. His agile body moved around, quickly and swiftly.

Soon enough he was at the watering hole. Not sure if Tamu was there, he looked at the watering hole, where could this special rock be? Mkarag waited patiently for Tamu to arrive to start their search.

Tamu was surprised with the speed of the small creature. He hadn't known snakes could travel that fast! Not wanting to be left behind, he quickly rose to his paws and bounded nimbly after Mkarag. Once he had reached the watering hole, he looked around for the polite creature. After spotting him, the lion moved over to the snake and glanced around.

"So we're looking for rocks now?" he asked, his eyes searching around on the ground. There were plenty of pebbles and such, but none of them really seemed to catch his eye.

He'd heard of pretty rocks before, but were there any around here?

"Yess, there must be one somewhere." he murmured. He looked around, moving rocks to find nothing but bugs, which he ate when tamu wasn't looking. A snake gots to eat. One by one, he moved the rocks and all were the same. After a moment of searching, his heart sank fearing that they may never find the rock. But he held onto his determination and continued his search.

The big lion huffed to himself then went looking around the watering hole. There had to be a rock around here somewhere, right? Determined to help this snake find something suitable for his mate, he continued looking around. He sniffed and pawed at the dirt, trying to find something that was even remotely nice. Yet after a while of searching, he had found nothing.

Sighing, he glanced over at the snake. "Maybe we should try some other--" Yet suddenly something caught his eye. It sparkled in the sun and he went over immediately to investigate.

Eyes widening, he called over the snake. "Hey! I think I've found something. Come look and see what you think."

Mkarag's eyes lit up in excitement, what was it that Tamu found? Immediatly the snake slithered over to him. Peering around his large paw. There it was, a stone, underneath it a blue crystalline material jetted out. Its beautiful colors gleamed in the sun, mesmorizing.

"Tamu, it's perfect!" he shouted out. "Could you break it in two?" he asked, he had his reasons to ask of something like this. A perfect gift to be broken in two?

Tamu smiled down at the snake, happy that he had helped him find a gift for his mate. But when he was asked to break it in half, he blinked and stammered a little bit.

"Break.. break it in half?" he repeated, glancing back down at the object that he had found. But it was so beautiful the way it was now... yet, he supposed, if Mkarag wanted it broken in half then who was he to object and say otherwise? Nodding slightly, he placed one paw on the crystalline object, his powerful jaws placed delicately around the center.

A few seconds later, the object was broken in half. The lion had gotten a little cut from it, but at least it was broken.

"There, that good?"
