Alright, I could care less whether Kikyo winds up with inuyasha and breaks up him and Kagome or not. I also don't blame her for being dead and still choosing to walk around. Many fine people I know of are dead, and I don't hold that against them. Life is precious, and half a life is better than none at all. If given the opportunity, I think anybody would come back to life, and Kikyo was forced into it.

My issue is that she eats the souls of dead tragic maidens. Some fans feel compelled to say she "purifies them", but that's BS, nothing in the show or manga says that. Likewise some say she just absorbs them/collects them, but that's the same. She absorbs them into her body to draw energy from them and remain alive and strong, if that's not eating them I don't know what is.

She needs to do it to keep animate, but I wonder if it's an appropriate price to pay for keeping her alive.

The thing that upsets me most is nobody seems to really bother about it. When they first encountered and discovered the soul-catchers, Inuyasha as all "some demon is stealing dead girl's souls, let's kill it! Oh, it's just my undead ex girlfriend eating souls. Okay." Nobody even mentions it unless it's a plot point.

Well, plot-device or otherwise, it irritates me that nobody seems to care about this. They don't even view it as a necisary evil, it's just "oh well".

There's actually a perfectly good way that Kikyo could have her own soul back: Kagome is from the present, so far that she hadn't even been concieved during the fuedal era, and as a result the soul would still be in the afterlife or wandering, ready for reincarnation.

i hate her she should die!!! plain and simple she helps naraku and then consumes others' souls to live when she should die she will never be with inuyasha so she sould not live any more she died for a reason she chose to so she can't have second thoughts now and i really really hate her did i mention that???? pluse she died 3 times once by naraku pretend to be inuyasha then is killed again by naraku then a 3rd time but i can't remember..... and well i hate her. die kikyo die. scream

as long as she doesnt actually kill the maidens when she takes there souls,in order not to re--die into a life she was forced into,she does that to stay alive. And it is juts like saying is eating meat justified? you do it to get protein which makes you healthy and keeps you alive.

Kikiyo is both good and evil she has the biggest mood swings of any person I have ever met it's rediculise!

A person's soul is one of the few things that stays the same after death. A soul is a person. She's not just eating some tissue, she's swallowing some girl's life story, memories, personality, emotions, all wrapped up in one little glowing ball. It's necessary for her to stay alive, but it's also spiritual cannibalism.

Kikyo is a dead tragic maiden. She eats other dead tragic maidens.

if she feels sorry for taking souls, then she should lay down and die already!

i mean, as Fuzzy Necromancer explained, a soul is a life, a story, and memories. she can't hide behind any excuse that justifies her soul-eating. I mean, if all you were was a soul, you can still see everything around you, your still there in a way, and then some stupid chick absorbs you for her own selfish desires!

not only that, she tries to kill living things, inuyasha and kagome, just to have her "revenge". when your dead, you let everything go, your body and the world you have lived in your entire life. instead, kikyo decides that shes too angry at her ex to let it go, even after he explains everything to her.

then she helps naraku, but then she says she'll "destroy" him once he has the entire jewel! she can't! when a demon has a single shard, his power doubles, correct? well, if naraku had the entire jewel, kikyo couldn't kill him! naraku would have endless power, and kikyo says she'll destroy him?

i maybe the only one, but if this chick thinks she can beat something she spent her life protecting, and also knowing its power, then shes f***ed up.
