High above the Firekin dens hung the full white orb of the moon joined by it's glittering neighbors, the stars. All looked down upon the cooled sandy terrain as the creatures of the night made their way around. Nocturnal vision allowing them to see in the darkness that surrounded them, but tonight they had the help of a full moon. It's pure rays filtered upon the sandy dunes creating long shadows for night dwellers to skulk in, but there was one creature who was not a usual visitor of the night.

A pair of violet eyes pierced through the shadows, the young cubs ebony form hidden well within the dark patches of the dunes and small brush that managed to grow. Yes, Koka was a newcomer to the land of the night but it did not phase the cub. No, she was out here for a more important reason. A dream, more like a vision, aroused the young lioness and she was dead determined to see what it was about. She never truly understood this strange power she possessed but had learned to trust her gut instincts and pay close attention to the visions she had. All, so far, had turned out to be real, but this one was much larger than the others. Much larger and more important.

-Flashback-
Everything was pitch black except the full moon above. There was nothing beneath her paws and no sound resonating from the shadowed realm. Koka was confused, unsure what to do, but the form of a full grown male appeared sillhouetted against the moon. Koka could not make out any details of the male but she was drawn to him. Taking a few weary steps forward violet eyes gazed intently trying to get a better look but she came in contact with an invisible barrier. At that moment two words echoed within the empty world she was in. 'seek me.'

The words resonated over and over to the point where she had to cover her ears. Finally it stopped and she raised her head to look up at the shadowed figure. "Where do I find you?"

No answer.

The form then began to walk away. Koka tried to follow throwing herself against the barrier in front of her yelling for an answer as to how to find him when her mind pulled away from the vision and she woke with a gasp, panting.

-End Flashback-

Now Koka wanted to find out what the vision was about and her instincts were telling her to walk, walk as far from the dens as possible so that's what she was doing. By the time the moon had begun to descend from it's peak position in the sky Koka was nearing the boundaries of the pridal lands but had yet to see anyone. Was she on a wild goose chase? Would she not find this lion whom had been in her vision? Oh, she would not be a happy kitty if this had been a wild goose chase.

His previous fwioret in to the firekin lands had been a good one, he had come away with a slave, noone had persued him. it was a good thing, perhaps the firekins lands were so swelled with cubs that if a few went missing noone would notice. Execellent. Golden eyes opened to stared up at the pale moon above. The light of the stunning full orb making his eyes shine, it was clear he was pleased.

The salmon tinted male was not fool enough to venture deep in to the firekin lands. The lions here were larger than he he knew, he had heard many storied of the firekins, they would perhaps one day be kith and kin to himself. Perhaps in the future he would seek alliance with them. For now, he kept his distance, for the mom,ent he was not fool enough to approach them. Nyekundu was no slave, he would never be taken by anyone. His lips curled in a sneer at the thought. The world belonged to him, he belonghed to noone.

His dark mane brushed around his pale features as he turned his gaze towards the slowly moving sands. his pink tongue lapping out as if to taste the winds. Of course, when he saw the shadow moving, he peered through the darkness those honey glazed eyes peircing the shadows, searching for what ever skulked within the dark deapths. "Do you seek me?" his voice whispered, a low hush of a whisper, his voice a deep, earthy growl of a thing. The wind was against him, he could not smell the creature before him, but it was small, perhaps a spy watching him? His lips curved in a snarl at this thought, noone spied on him. His ears perked upwards stark white against the jet black mane, his amber orbs flickering with a dangerous red light.

The little wind that blew through the desert carried upon it a strange scent. It was that scent that led the young cub in the right direction and it was in that direction she found who she seeked.

Eyes pierced through the darkness of the dune she hid in. She was not idiotic. This lion was much larger than herself. He may not be as large as her own father but one good swipe of those claws and she could easily be killed. No, Koka knew that she was not powerful, not physically as of yet. In time she'd be able to do as she pleased for physical strength and size would not be much of a problem for her, but now she'd have to be cautious.

Not moving from her location, Koka lowered her body, ready to dart away should the need be. The princess knew these dunes better than this male, and could move across the shifting sand with much more agility. There was a strong chance she could get away should she need to. Koka only need to be ready.

"Yes." She spoke shortly. "I dreamt you would be lurking out here, thankfully my dream did not lead me astray." Eyes scanned the form of the male. His colorations were very odd. Much to bright and cheery and he certainly didn't have vanity on his side in Koka's opinion. Oh well, everyone couldn't have the beauty she held. "Why do you lurk within my father's lands? Should he find you I am more than certain you would be dead. He doesn't tolerate outsiders much."

Carefully Koka stepped forward from the shadows, violet eyes glistening while she held her head high. She was going to show her status to this outsider. A Princess like herself would never lower her body to such a lowlife.

Nyekundu's tail flickered but once as he watched the small dark form swim in to his golden eyed view. Of course, he remained silent, his tongue lapping out to lick accross his pale lips. It was too soon to try and cub nap another, one could possibly be misplaced, two would most certainly be missed.

"I have heard much of the firekins lands, of their power and grace" He whispered without a moments hesitation, his golden eyes turning away a signal of dissinterest. "I have no want to harm you cub, I am no fool to think that the firekin wouldn't retaliate to me should I come and theive away their children. Come closer if you wish if you seek me, you have found me" His golden eyes turned once again. He too held in his stance a royal heir though it was one that he had clearly taken, won by his own strength, nothing had been handed to the salmon tinted male. He had taken it by force.

The words, I saw you in a dream curled around in the large males mind, his eyes fogging slightly. He was a great beleiver in the seers. They had power he could not quite comprehend but at the same time he longed to control it, he saught it's premonitions, it's whispers, he longed for words from the blessed to speak his name in good grace. Superstitios, he knew thats what it was but still he listened to them.

"I am nyekundu, Lord Nyekundu king of the mans oasis, speak your name to me cub." His honey glazed gaze finally met with the young females and he smiled, cockyness, pride, this was no mongrel he could see that all too well and it made him laugh inwardly. He was speaking to a royal, one who's power would possibly one day exceed his own. The king of the mtamani pride secretly longed for the history of the firekin, they were known, they were feard, they were attributes he longed for.

"do princesses often wander so far from their fathers bosom in these lands? or are you a princess only in name? Your brother holds the right to heir?" The salmon tinted male licked his lips, he was far from being condesending, he knew the strife of not having a son as his heir, if she had a brother, he would no doubt be in that possition, leaving this, ambitious youngster high and dry. Ambition, it was like he could smell it. She wanted more. His eyes flashed in a pleased sort of manner. Perhaps, perhaps heer was a willing recruit, a worthy general? A true firekin?

"A king you say?" She eyed the male as she stepped forward a few more paces but not close enough to be in any distance of swiping. Oh no, Koka wasn't going to put herself in a dangerous situation. Well...not in anymore than she was. "I am Koka, princess of the Firekin," She paused for a moment before grinning with confidence. "and follower of the great God of War." Violet eyes watched the salmon painted male for his reaction. He may be a king of an unknown pride but she had the graces of a God on her side. Unknown to Koka though, she also had the grace of a Goddess but where that Goddess fell in this situation would forever be unknown.

"You speak as if you know the true power we Firekin have yet you willingly stray into our lands. You're either stronger than you appear or truly foolish." She growled out. "Whether you mean harm or not, outsiders are unwelcome. We only want the strongest within our boundaries and only those of the Blood can reach such a level." Koka's head never once dropped from it's high and mighty position while the end of her tail curled upwards the tip flicking gently. Oh yes, Koka was proud of her heritage and nothing could take that pride away.

At the mention of her ranking, teeth bared as a small, cubbish growl formed in her throat. "Don't speak of things you do not know. I -will- one day be queen of this land. I hold all the cards and all I am missing now is the title. With a God on my side though I will -not- be brought down." Eyes blazed with an inner fire as she glared determinly at Nyek. "Nothing will stop me."

Nyekundu chuckled, he seemed unphased by the thought of the god. The gods had done nothing to stop him on his rampage in to this world. He had continued on fearless, going where few had dared to step before.

"Koka, strength you say and a god you cry, there are many ways to win power princess." He licked his lips, contemplating what he would say next. A girl with ambition? He could almost taste her will upon the breeze. "You have power in there princess, perhaps, I could help." He paused his gaze turning upont he little female, his eyes flashing, returning that self same ambition. He had long held a flame in his chest to rule all, the firekin were powerful, herespected them, he was not fool enough to delve in to the deapths of their lands. "I sit on your boundries princess and gaze in wondering what made the firekin so powerful, wondering what made them infamous in the lands, I see they raise their young to face up to any danger no matter the odds."

The salmon tinted lord paused to groom his paws, cleaning his face as he did so, he had no need to chase after this little female, he had a feeling he could cajole her to follow willingly. "My pride Koka, it is small, but one day it will march upon the lands, starting with those, mist weavers, I will reap the benefits of their land and take what should rightfully be mine. The firekin, you are a strong breed, you stand tall and proud, in a batlle you are no doubt fearless." He paused again and licked his lips his amber orbs settling upon the princess before him. "Tell me princess, does the thought of being second best for the rest of your days kill you inside" He raised a brow "I can give you power, the power over lands that will one day be conqured, the power over beasts whom will die for you, the power in a land begging to be held in powerful claws." His claws raked the moving sands before him "tell me Koka, do you hold the ambiton to be a figure of ultimate authority, in a land wheer the beasts will whisper your name in fear, in reverance, or would you prefare to sit and scheme your days away, second best to your brother?" he would ahve puurred if he could, he could tell by ehr words he had scathed her with his comment about her simply being a princess. Hee was in charge of his own pride, but those beneath him had the power of the gods, he cared not what his generalsdid to the slaves, as long as they were loyal to him. This cub, this cub he had little doubt would make a general and would take a seat upon his high council. If only he could tempt her ambition.

Eyes glittered with each word uttered byt this male. Power, strength, authority, they were all words she wished to hold in her grasp. She wanted them all and more but Koka wasn't going to allow herself to bow to another, not without great promise of gaining something out of the trouble she would go through. "I follow the great God of War. He has promised me strength and power to overtake my pride while you speak of other lands which will be conquered." Now that was interesting to think about. Could she, Koka rule over numerous prides? That was a most wonderous idea, but her heart did lay within the Firekin. They needed a strong ruler once father left and Koka knew she was the only one able to give them such a powerful ruling. "I long to rule over this land and will do anything to do so, even disobey direct orders from my King." She sneered. "I must aid the God of War as well for he has promised me power as long as I aid him as he wishes. I will -not- betray the trust he has put in me. I remain loyal to those who work to aid me in my quest."

"I do have a question for you Nyek. You spea of power you can give me yet I shall always only be second best. Second best to you or second best to my brother. Why is your offer so much better than the life I am living here?"
PostPosted: Tue Aug 15, 2006 10:51 am

Nyekundus tail flickered, his golden eyes sparkling. The question whispered in his ears and he had an answer for it. Licking his lips he slowly answered her, having listened to her words. "the god of war will no doubt help you where ever you go, but consider this Koka, the day will come and I will march my army in to the lands surrounding the firekins, I will march them and make all the lands mine, I will hold them in my claws, but Koka, the lands outside my own will need rulers." His eyes danced as he let the words sink in. "The mistweavers lands, the pridelands, the kuisinimwezi, the swamps, the jungle, they will all require able rulers, rulers whom will already be established with willing slaves, rulers whom will already hold in their paws a claw full of males and females willing to throw their lives down for them." He took a deep breath, he enjoyed these small pauses letting his words seep in to her mind "Think of it Koka, one day you will march in to these lands with creatures whom are powerful, whom are yours and you, you can order them to take your land, the land which rightfully belongs to you and hold it. These creatures, they will be loyal to you, willing to die to keep you in power. and all I ask for this? Nothing, the land will be yours, only that I may as I will pass through, perhaps even take some slaves for my next conquest." He smirked "This land will be yours, you will hold it tightly in your claws I am willing to help, all I ask, is your loyalty now, then the future, is up to you to control."

Now this was certainly a tempting offer. With the right plugs and careful planning Koka could find herself ruler of whatever lands she wished. The temptation was far too much for the young lioness as she quickly plots out her possibilties but all came down to accepting such an offer. She'd be daft for ignoring such an offer. Not only would she have a God on her side but also a pride determined to push it's way through the lands of other prides. Oh yes. This was certainly perfect.

"I will gladly accept you offer, King Nyek, but I do have a few requirements." IF this lion could not accept the little requirements she had then she wished nothing to do with them. It was only right after all. "I will have things to do for the God whom I've allied myself with. When he beckons for me I will leave. I do not wish to have any retaliation for my departure. I will certainly work to return to the pride as swiftly as I can. Secondly, I do not want you to forge tmy original status. Though I may be subserviant to you, I am -still- a princess of the Firekin. I want you to remember that. I do have standards though you will have to learn what they are on your own." She grinned. "That is all I require. Besides those two things I will do as you ask."

Nyekundu nodded. "A god is a powerful entity it would be foolish for any to dissobay him." He paused, for a moment a smirk raising on his maw. "A princess you will be for now but oneday no doubt a queen." He knew just how to lay it on thick. he knew exactly how to allign himself to creatures whom would serve him well.

"Do you wish to bid your family a fare well Koka?" He smirked, he could guess the answer, her family were the means to an end, just like his own, they kept him alive as a cub, now they were just dirt under the paws of his past. "I will take you to my oasis and you will be a high general upon my council." he smirked lightly slowly getting to his foot paws, dark claws raking the sand beneath his feet. "One day Koka you will return to claim this land as your own." he looked at her for a long moment, waiting for her to join him. In his bones he could feel, he had just gained an ally whom would one day be a very powerful force in his army.

Despite Koka's way with words she truly had little interaction with males of Nyeks calliber. No one had spoken to Koka as if she was someone whom had the true power to be what she truly wanted ot be besides Mrost and that is what lured the young princess in. Nyeks words were like a pspiders web with Nyek as the hungry spider and Koka the poor insect but just maybe this would all turn to the young lionesses favor. She certainly thought so and previous vision showed her standing on a throne, but what throne that would be was questionable.

"There is no one back there whom I care to bid farewell to." With that the cub stepped up to Nyeks side as her new King rose to his feet. Nyek would appreciate her talents and she would prove to him that she was a force worthy to be at his right hand side. She now only needed to play her cards right and keep all her aces hidden until the last moment, the moment when she would take what was rightfully her and more.

Nyekundu smirked, as he expected "We have a way to travel" It was a simple statement, he turned away from the dunes from which the young princess had travelled, away towards theseraghetty and the distant jungle. He turned to look back at the dark firekin princess, his golden orbs smiling. stretching and cricking his shoulders a bit he started a slow trot. "your sands will still be heer when you return" He stated simply, he needed to say no more. He knew full well it would be scathing of him to ask if she could keep up, to ask of she wished to be lifted. This he knew was a female whom would despise any charity he could give to her. She could make her own way, though he would keep her pace rather than his own, land eating gallop.

"You will like my oasis, there is a place waiting for you taht i have been waiting for a long time to fill." He smirked to himself, keep her on his side. one day, she would be a most powerful ally. He would happily wait for that day, he had all the time in the world.
