Personally, I like bright atmospheres in games. With bright colors and lighting, I mean. Sometimes when I go to a level in a game that's a cave or something like that, I kinda lose interest in it, but that's just me. I also like a lot of aerial(sp?) freedom in games, and lots of movement options, such as swimming, flying, climbing. I want to really experience the game, especially if it's graphics are realistic.
So, discuss:
What atmosphere do you like in a game?

Well, I don't like flying in games. I suck at flying. The atmosphere doesn't really entirely matter to me, although I prefer the colors to be more bright than dark so I can see the surroundings well. sweatdrop All I really need to be happy is the ability to explore and adventure all on my own without the game trying to force me to get back to the story. That's probably why I like Baldur's Gate 2 and Oblivion so much. 3nodding

I like dark areas..maybe like the city at night kind of..the whole dugeon and gave thing is alright but I always freak out a little when I turn corners but yeah I like more of the outdoors dark. But I kind of get tired of it if im in it for a long time. So mostly dark but with some day at least. And mainly outside 3nodding

I like games that have kind of a peaceful surrounding... Like for example in Chrono Cross... My favorite place is Arni Village... I'd just stand there and listen to the music at the docks... XD XD Hehe ish a Chrono Cross freak! heart

The only thing the atmosphere needs for me to enjoy it, is relation to the storyline, and a sort of realism.

I like games with a dark atmosphere, but I also like the lighter kind of games too. I'm a mis-matched kind of person that way (Not including my mix-matched socks stupid ninjas... ninja )

I usually prefer brighter lighting so I can actually see where I'm going. I hate it when everything is so dark that my TV screen just looks black.

bright, open spaces. although the space thing doesnt usually bother me that much. i like lighter spaces just coz of the better visibility.

Classy horror. If there is blood on the walls, make it look good. Not just red splashes on the walls and dead bodies everywhere. Give me dark corners, locked doors, and monsters that you cant see. I want you to scare the s**t out of me, and leave me feeling like the most powerful thing in existance, and still being human.

I kinda of prefer the cheerier atmospheres because I can actually see what I'm doing with out having to shut all of the lights on or sitting really close to the television. I like to play the darker ones when my sis is there to watch. That way, we both get the crap scared out of us. mrgreen
