The man stood at the front of the classroom, idly flipping through the pages of his book while waiting for his student to arrive. The chalkboard read 'justice', 'secluded lairs', and 'would rather avoid violence'.

A few paces down the hall could be heard the sound of muffled foot steps, closer, closer, closer they came...and behind them a second pair of footseps much quieter than the first. However before the duo were to come in sight of Perilas they stopped. "You...stay here." came the slightly femmenine voice of a young boy. Their was no responce from whom ever he was talking to, just another few sentences from the boy. "Don't give me that look...I don't know if they allow dragons in here or not! Look--five minutes, ok?" Silence.
The boy rounded the corner and now Perilas found himself face to face with a young red faced love bird. A cheeky grin from Paxton slowly faded as he noted that his teacher was not female...but it quickly returned, never mind gender! All types of people were wonderfull, or could be wonderfull, he just had to be the one to break the ice. "Hellu," said the boy, as he tugged down his vest, which was once again riding itself up along his tummy. "Names Paxton, I'm here to learn about my...dragon?" Yes, yes that was right. Maybe this guy could give him some tips that would help Paxton get along with Marigold or something like that.

Peri glanced up as footsteps were heard in the hallway, but looked back at his book. Ah, it might not be his student. It wasn't quite time yet, though rather close. The man looked up as someone entered the classroom. "Hello, Paxton. And you'd be in the right place." He closed the book and stepped down from the raised platform. "And where would the little gold be?" He asked, noticing the lack of dragon behind the young boy.

Paxton had a bad (or was it good?) habit of being early. Being late...well, it just rubbed the young boy the wrong way. When he was late he couldn't think clearly, all his feathers for brains could do were worry about what a terrible impression he was making.
"Oh, no worries!" He waved his hand quickly and shot out the door. Behind his shoulder he yelled, "She's out here. I just wasn't sure if--" there was a soft yelp from outside the room accompanied by some scuffling.
"Come on Marigold!" Paxton tugged at the pink ribbon wrapped around the little dragon's neck. Gabby had thought it to be a cute touch on the little thing and Paxton hadn't bothered to disagree. The dragon's big eyes looked up at her owner as she tried to scoot away. "You wanted too come in a few moments ago--and now--you--can." The love bird huffed and puffed as he tried to tug Marigold inside.
The attempt failed miserably as Paxton clumsily stepped on her foot, and sent Marigold crying into the room to skid at halt near Peri's feet. A couple of under the breath curses later Paxton scrambled back into the room. Nearly tripping over a desk, he caught himself and ended up with his hands on his knees. An overly large grin flashed at Peri's way. "She's uh...a--real sweetie." Brown eyes flashed down at Marigold whom rolled onto her tummy in that defense position. " Doesn't talk yet though...not like my friend Keanu's dragon. Are gold dragons slower to talk than frost ones? " Yimer wasn't a full frost dragon...but close enough.

Perilas raised one eyebrow at the pink ribbon about the dragon's neck. Well, at least the gold was female. Even if the slightly insane child it was bonded to was male. The man didn't have much more time to think as the little gold hatchling scampered further into the room, coming to a stop near the man's feet.
Perilas glanced back at the boy. "Well, golds are a bit more quiet than some of the other dragons. They are great listeners and usually have a rather weak spot for gossip." The man chuckled softly. "It also varies from dragon to dragon a bit. Kinda like people. Some talk a lot and some don't. But golds, on average, don't seem to talk too much."
Since they were on the topic of which the class was about, Peri gestured to the board. "That's a few notes about golds. But, if you've got other questions, I can answer them for ya. This class is mostly just for you to get to know more about what to expect from your dragon as she grows."

With a exasperated sigh Paxton made his way down onto his knees. With a bit of shuffling he made his way over to Marigold and began to rub her belly. Far from thankful Marigold shot the lovebird a 'Why do you torment me so,' look.
This made the once smiling lovebird frown slightly. "Ah what have I ever done to you?" cooed the lovebird. Well enough though he knew why she probably didn't like him. Clumsy, awkward for his age...stepped on her tail one to many times. Words on the board, 'justice', 'secluded lairs', 'rather avoid violence' things that really didn't describe him. Ah it was probably just age, he was a growing boy after all and she...well she was a delicate little thing.
Gold dragons sure were fickle.
Lending his attention back to Peri now, Paxton shook his head. "No more questions...but..." the boy knew he shouldn't however he was curious about the look Peri had shot at Marigold something earlier. "Something wrong with her? " Perhaps Peri didn't like gold dragons, or maybe girls...was it the ribbon around her neck. As far as Paxton was concerned if people didn't like his dragon, well then, they didn't like him. And not being liked was something that-- "Is it odd to have a female gold dragon?" Another worried concern popping up.

Peri blinked at this odd duo. How did D-corp pick these dragons for the kids again? The man could swear that most were just a shot in the dark. Peri drew his attention back down to the boy. "Hmmm? Oh, no. It doesn't appear that anything's wrong with her. She looks healthy..."
He shrugged at the next question. "Some of the kids have dragons that are the same gender as them and some don't. D-corp doesn't seem to be bothering to try and monitor any of that. So having a female gold dragon isn't any odder than having a male gold dragon. Or any other type of dragon for that matter..."

Paxton nodded and gave a final love pat against Marigolds side. Immediately the dragon sat up and gave a soft n** at his cheek. "Oie! Don't do that now." Groaned the lovebird as he stepped to his feet and rubbed his back and tail feathers. He was stiff today, but he couldn't remember exactly why...
"Well then I guess I'll be off?" He leaned down and began to tug Marigold by her ribbon again. Angerly, as if she felt she didn't need to be told what to do Marigold whipped her tail around and sent Paxton to the ground with a loud thunk. Satisfied she had done some good in teaching her owner a lesson in manners she waddled off and outside the door.
Stunned, all Paxton could do was blink up at the ceiling. If Peri thought him injured, well, he certainly wasn't for he shot bolt upright suddenly. One more question, he had just remembered it and then he would go. "Is it true gold dragons eat gemstones?" ....Weird sentence, Paxton shook his head and tried it again. "I mean Mister...erm...well, what do gold dragons really eat? Anything I give her she doesn't enjoy much." Probably why she still seemed very tiny for a dragon.

The man blinked at the two. Definately an interesting pair... He chuckled softly as the gold floored her partner, then the boy was bouncing back up. He had raised a hand to wave the two goodbye when Paxton paused.
"Well, golds do like to eat pearls as a treat... But she should eat meat like the other dragons as well..."

Ah so it was true, "Pearls?...I see, " Paxton shot a glance over at Marigold whom had poked her head back through the door. What a weird dragon. How did D-corp decide these things? In hid mind Paxton suddenly pictured himself being much better off with Gabby's silver dragon. Now that was a more sensible creature...at least it knew how to have some fun. Then again--sigh. Paxton meekly smiled at Marigold.
"Wanna go look for Ma's jewlery box?" This statement was immediately followed by a mischievous chuckle and cheeky grin. But Marigold's glance said that she was 'less than amused' with his suggestion. She may not have completely understood what his smile was for, but she knew it meant no good.
Scrambling up one last time, Paxton waved back at Mr. Coleman. "Sorry for taking up all of your time. Catch ya later, teach!" Following that he was quickly running out the door chasing after his dragon. Oh well, maybe someday the two would learn to live with each other.
