Who will win the MVP award for the american league?
PostPosted: Thu Aug 10, 2006 7:20 pm

This is what i have to say if the red soxs dont make the playoffs which so far how there playing they wont i'm going with my man Derek Jeter, but if the red soxs make the playoffs off the wild card then it will be a difficult MVP race but most likely it will be David Ortiz, but i still think Derek Jeter will be the MVP for this reason only, because of raising the yankees atop of the American League East while having two of the best players in baseball out for almost the whole season which u have to give credit to him for doint that.

Even if they don't make the playoffs, I think Ortiz will still get the award. Jeter is overrated. He's not clutch like Ortiz. Hell, I think MAUER has a better chance at AL MVP.

Big Papi's in the running every year, yet he can't seem to get the MVP because he's not a fielder. I'd choose Ortiz in a heartbeat, though.

thats the point why do u think A-Rod won it last year because they were even in offence then they had to check there defence and quess what big papi doesnt play defence so he doesnt get tired like all the other ppl thats probably why he does all those good numbers because if he was an everyday first basemen his stats would probably go down.

no way, joe mauer is not close to winning MVP. but his team mate Morneau has a slight chance in winning it. also Thome and Bad Vlad has a chance if he can win the AL West since he is the only offense on the team.

Plus Jeter aka Captin Clutch has a very good chance bc the ppl who vote like that he plays defense(very well) and is a great hitter. plus he would have a better chance if he was in the 3 spot of the lineup to raise his stats. cause his main job in the 2 spot is to advance the runner and get on base

now thats what i'm talking about that jeter is a way better option then big papi.

that´s true, but i still think if Ortiz played 1st base or something else he would have the MVP award in the bag. some how they always seem to pick the big sluggers. Jeter does have a good shot.
