Hinote grinned, understanding Sachiya's babbling. Yay, a new friend! This was great! Now... what could they do? Hinote pondered for a moment. Then, she got an idea.

Her eyes scanned the room for nearby shadows to grab at. As wisps of darkness collected into her hands, she squashed the ball into a playable shadow tamborine. Shaking it, she asked, you wanna play? biggrin

Meanwhile, Rei was talking to Chibi. "You have a very nice name, Chibi-san. But... I'm just curious--where did you get the nickname?"

o.o Oooooooooh, Hinote looked at the octopus plushie. It looked so interesting! "Coooooooool!" She exclaimed, shaking her tamborine--which turned into a dark replica of the octopus in a blink of an eye. Shadows are fuuuuun to play around with. Make new shapes with it!

"Well, I'm sure our mother's shorter than you," Rei laughed. She then caught herself, realizing that sounded rude. Her cheeks turned a rosy red. "Um... gomen."

"Otays!" Hmmm... well, what could she turn the shadow octopus into? Well... "Name somefing." As long as she had an idea of what she wanted to turn the shadow into, she could manipulate it all she wanted!

"Hopefully my mother won't mind," Rei chuckled. "She can be touchy about her height, but it's amusing at times when she throws a fit."

"Kitty!" Note repeated. Yeah, kitties were cute! And with that thought, the little octopus turned into a black, wispy cat with yellow eyes. "Mew!" the girl imitated, as the shadow cat licked itself and purred. Hehe, playing with shadows ish fun. "Touch kitty?"

"Shorty... the universal nickname for short people," Rei recalled Yuu saying. A small memory of the hyper teenage girl bashing her boyfriend with words and strangling him with her hands popped into her mind. Ooh. Note to self: don't call anyone short Shorty. "Well, usually my mother's the one who comes here with Hinote, so I'm not really familiar with the place. I think I've been in here once... I'm not too sure. But it's quite nice."

Oooooooooooh, feather! "Feffer!" o.o The shadow kitty jumped into Sachiya's lap as Hinote's hand reached out for the feather. It was so pretty--red and purple! It certainly wasn't like mommy's or her own feathers--a light gray. But it was kinda like Rei's feathers. They were black with streaks of crimson in them. Nevertheless, the feather was nice. She smiled as the little kitty poofed into a dozen soft feathers on Sachiya.
Hinote looked at him, curiously. "Note keep?" She wanted to keep it to remember her friend. She then did the same thing--carefully pulling out one of her own feathers with a soft "Eep!" and handing it to him. "Sachy have?"

Rei looked at Chibi oddly. "Not to be rude or anything, but um..." She sweatdropped. sweatdrop It was a peculiar thing to question. "But you're a man, correct? How did you give birth to this little fellow?"

Hinote blushed. Now that she thought about it, mommy and daddy would kiss the other on the cheek as a 'thank you' sometimes. Seeing how she couldn't say the words right yet (which she really wanted to), Note decided to just give a small peck on Sachiya's cheek and a hug. "Fwend," Note cooed. Sachiya was a really nice friend.

"Oh..." Rei's voice trailed off, trying to look as if she understood. There were other demon species out there? And one that had breeding males? "Hmmm... well that's pretty interesting," she smiled, meaning it. "I never knew that there was a species like that before. Learn something new everyday!"

As Note broke the hug slowly, she grinned at Sachiya. She was very happy! Nothing could be better at the moment. Her first gift from another friend! Not her sister, not her cousin... but someone else other than her family. This was something new.

However, looking at the tiny feather in her hands, she wondered... what could she do with it? sweatdrop ... !!!

It would be a temporary fix, but using wisps of thin shadows, she made a cord to attach the feather to, and wrapped the cord around her neck. Now, I'll always have the feather with me! she thought. That way I can make sure I don't lose it for now.

"Must be a complicated procedure," Rei mentioned. "But it must've been worth it go through pregnancy to have a cute little boy like him," she added as she patted Sachiya on the head. "It would be nice to have a child of my own... I mean, I have a toddler at home, but... it's not the same as... knowing that the are your child..."

The fa'e wasn't making too much sense even to herself, but now that she was a youth, and together with the man of her dreams... settling down and having a baby was something she looked forward to.

(Little did she know that her dream was in the process of coming true. But that's another story~)
