Who knows?
Hojo is a pretty messed up guy...
Maybe RedXII just found his long lost tribe? O.o...
What I want to know is... how is Bugenhagen his grandfather if he's a human? sweatdrop

He found another mate. It took awhile to search for her. Blah...

dunno, maybe, they made clones of him that grow up like children?

well how did his father have him? i don't recall the mention of a mother at all, so probably the same way that red XIII came into the world is the way his kids came into the world

Nanaki has a mother. He ******** speaks about her almost all the time when they first arrive in Cosmo Canyon.
And he found another mate.
Bugenhagen said to Nanaki that he might find a mate someday, and he did.

"Life will find a way..."

Lol sorry had to quote that.
I couldn't help but think that there was some hidden story out there that there was still a few of his kind left barely holding onto life. I definately don't think asexually, because well as said before in this thread he does speak of his mother (if I remember correctly). That would mean there's more than just one gender :S

Red 13 is, in fact, the only of his kind. He had mated with a moogle to get a cross breed of dog-mogs.

but the truth is, Red 13 had some connections with squaresoft, and felt a little lonely so he got square to pixelate kids for him.

But the real truth is, it never said whether the cubs were his or not. But, going along with the "story" seeing how he's "red 13" an project for hojo, would mean that there were others before him which were tested on. That would mean theres a very low possibility that one of them is still lingering around like he is.

But the actual truth is, red 13 is breedable with humans. He had 4 children with Yuffie. 2 turned out to be his kind, and 2 human. Guess which one's he favored?

I'm sure BugenHagen states that there are more of Red XIII/Nanaki's kind.

I'm not sure though.

Maybe Hojo did experiments on his kind instead of creating him?

Who knows. After all, Nanaki DID have a father... So did Hojo experiment on his father and mother? Did Hojo create his mother and father... ?

They are his cubs. And he's called Red XIII because he's the 13th specimen Hojo messed with, not the 13th of his species the sicko got ahold of.

I don't know how he had cubs. I still believe Nanaki can mate with humans. Evidence? Why, certainly:

--Hojo tried to mate Aerith with him. Hojo's not an idiot. If he tried it, it was possible. We know the Cetra were close enough to humans genetically to mate with them (Ifalna and Gast). Thanks to Hojo, we know half-humans, half-Cetra can mate with his kind. Why couldn't humans?
--It never says his mother was one of their kind. From his description of the fight with the Gi Tribe, his mother seems to have died a good while before his father, as he supposedly "left her to die." Why would one of a species make it so far, and another get defeated so early on? Simple: they weren't the same species. I think it's very possible Nanaki's mother was a human. That would explain why Nanaki calls Bugenhagen "grandfather". It's really the only explanation. If being used as a term of endearment, I can imagine "gramps" or "grandpa". But Nanaki actually introduces him as saying, "This is my grandfather." That one little word, my, makes all the difference.

Bugenhagen never states there are others of his kind. It's easy to miss, but what he says could mean something much different. He actually says that one day, Nanaki might meet his life's mate. Species is not mentioned. The abovementioned theory is the only one I can think of that doesn't seem to have any holes in it...if you find one, tell me.

Nanaki's grandpa is a human...er...kinda.

Maybe his species can mate with humans.

Like when Hojo was experimenting with Aeris and Red...telling the team that they'd mate to preserve two dying species...or whatever.

Perhaps...that's...how it happened? neutral *shrugs* sweatdrop

I didn't really know much about Nanaki in the game and this clears up alot of things!

I think these are very reasonable explinations! surprised
