Randee stood waiting for her companion, Leah, to return from her hunting expedition. Yet again, Randee was alone by herself without any protection. But this was an exception, this time she was more vulnerable than ever before. She was in the desert.
She hadn't been in the desert alone since she had met Leah. Randee hated being in the desert alone. When she was a young foal, Randee's herd and family was attacked by a pack of lions, leaving Randee as the only survivor.
*I hope Leah returns soon,* thought Randee as she began to walk, stepping into the scorching hot sand. The extreme heats of desert sun didn't bother Randee as much as the discomfort of the sand blowing against her body. Sand blew against her face and got into her eye. She squinted her eyes, seeing something in the distance. Was it a mirage or was something actually in the distance? Randee paused and took a step back, afraid.

Scar stood over the carcass of the dead animal. He wasn't sure how long it had been dead or what had attacked it. Could be anything from lions, hyenas or even coyotes. It was hard to say with all the predators in the land. The carcass had at once been a horse of some type, maybe even a soquili. If it had once been distinguishable, it no longer was.
He didn't care about the body at all, as the stallion was a cold and uncaring creature. No, what he was worried about was if the attackers were still in the vicinity.

Randee wasn't quite sure how to react in this situation. There was definitely a living creature in the distance. Was it a friend or was it a foe? Was it a predator or another loving creature? What was Randee to do?
*If only Leah were here,* thought Randee, worried that it may be a lion or another predator. Whatever it was, Randee wasn't sure if she should interact with it. Then again, she was distant enough to be able to run if she needed to.
"Hey you!" shouted Randee loudly, trying to get the figure's attention. Randee instantly regretted this decision and took a step backwards.
*Now what?* thought Randee, confused.

Scar turned towards the sound. It came and passed quickly but sounded like a greeting of some sort. He hadn't been expecting anything so wasn't paying attention. Also, he had been deep within his own thoughts.
He arched a scarred brow and slowly walked forward. At first he thought it was a zebra. There were such horse like creatures but as he got a better view, he realized that the mare was a Soquili, just similar in coloration to a zebra. He thought the situation ironic as he was colored similarly to a lion, a predator of the zebra. Pity he wasn't a carnivore, he thought to himself.
"Yes?," he asked the mare when he was within talking distance. He wasn't usually one to shout unless extremely irritated or angry.

As the Soquili approached Randee, she took a few small steps back. However, she wasn't as afraid, but rather relieved. She feared the worst, that it was a lion or major predator. Nonetheless, Randee still felt rather nervous, mainly cause of the setting she was in. Even though she was no longer alone, she still felt she didn't have any protection.
"Hello," said Randee, feeling rather embarassed, realizing she had no real reason to call the Soquili over. So, she decided to try and talk with this Soquili. "My name is Randee. And you are?"
Randee noticed an unusual scar on the this Soquili's eye.
*Hrm, weird,* thought Randee.
