If you're awesome at strategy, want a challenge, and are completely impatient, no, KOtR is not worth it, unless you're striving for Master Summon materia the good ol' fashioned way. However, if you're like me, and prefer to know you've got the next boss battle beat and just enjoy the storyline, yes, totally worth it. It's a rather long animation, and it takes awhile to get. But a possible total of 129,987 damage in one turn, using one summon (ignoring the awesomeness of W-Summon), is simply too good a tool to pass up for me, at least.

SPOILER! I think it is, especially if you are to fight the weapons, like Ruby. Also, if you get the mime materia is also good so you could use it more than once, especially if all party members have mimic, then you can cotinously use it, despite that you are only supposed to be able to use it so many times. Though, damage will decrease. It's kind of entertaining and I found it fun raising chocobos and such.
I thought it was worth it, though, it killed bosses with too much ease and didn't make them much of a challenge, which I found rather boring.>< It's fun to show off, though! ;D (Don't ask).
P.S. I put spoiler since not everyone knows of Ruby weapon... ninja

depending on how you play the game it can be ether......
but yeah its always worth a look being the strongest summon in the game and all (also the longest stare )
but if your just wanting to play for the story its not nessasary, unless you cant be bothered to fight the last bosses the hard way (KOTR usealy dose them in 1 or 2 hits)
but if your wanting to aquire every thing in the game and kill all the weapons then yes its very nessasary.
(on a side note, go for it, it gives you an escuse to rase the adorable chocobos.)

Basically what we are all trying to say is yes it's worth it. And the actual summon itself is a great watch

But if it's getting to frustrating....take a deep breath to help calm down give it a couple more goes and then determine whether or not you want it. That's my advice about it.

dude you so need to waste your time getting that summon!
1. its the best one and deals the most blows
2. its super awesome
3. its very necessary in the upcoming battles (ruby & emerald)

I say yes because I am a compulsive completist and I really like being able to earn my master summon. It gives me that acomplished "I've just wasted 2 hours of my life, but at least I'm happy" feeling.

i got to the end of the game, down in the crater, and can get to sephiroths 3rd form....and then the b*****d kills me....
if i had to do it all over again, i would have been patient and worked to get the KOtR...but that's just me
