Gorgeous, sunny afternoons, such as this one, were not occasions to be wasted. Amyla hated being cooped up in the house or at work on such gorgeous days. Thus, she had decided that this afternoon was going to be used in a worthwhile fashion.
It was going to be a shopping afternoon.
They had already received a notice that their appointment was confirmed. They just needed a date to go in and actually... well, get things done. Until then, Amyla and Aiodhan could prepare, which meant getting more baby clothes.
'More' was the appropriate word here considering they already had baby clothes from their son, Caleb. Caleb, however, was a bit of an odd child, so most of his clothes bore singemarks and were likely to be far too big for the average newborn. Caleb was not a small baby, by any means.
Thus, this lovely afternoon found Amyla and Aiodhan (and Caleb, perched on Amyla's hip) inside a baby clothing store. Amyla immediately headed to the newborn section, leaving a dejected Aiodhan trailing in her wake.

Normally, Orous would not be caught alive outside when it was sunny, unless it was something serious, like Drana's hospital visit earlier. Normally, Drana would be the only one outside, walking just to bask in the sunlight her cool-blooded body craved.
However, this was not a normal day, seeing as Orous was almost dragging Drana into a baby store to get supplies for the little 'bundle of joy' that would arrive in about 8 mounths, if everything went well.
Drana didn't see what the rush was. She didn't even look pregnent yet...right? If she was the type to go emo in the corner, she would be doing that right about now.

"Come on, Aiodhan... doesn't this look cute?" Amyla called back to her mate, holding up a sage-colored sleeper. "And it's neutrally-colored, so it won't matter for male or female."
Aiodhan, about fifteen feet away and looking rather saddened that he was dragged into such an obviously female-oriented store, was glancing around for a distraction. Not really listening to his mate, he gave a vague wave in her direction and then flicked an ear as he heard someone else in the vicinity. Others? Perhaps another male dragged along on a ridiculous baby-shopping trip? Heartened by this, he wove his way through the clothing racks in search of someone to commiserate with his miserable situation.
Caleb, happily seated on Amyla's hip and clutching to her shoulder, gave his father a cheerful wave when his mother wasn't looking. Then the infant promptly went back to chewing on his teething ring, ignoring all around him.

Orous immedietly stopped when he heard a heart approch them. He listened closely to the heart, to try and tell if it was a male or female. Backing up one step, he leaned towards male. Unsure of anythign else, he hissed at Drana, for he was at a bit of a disadvantige. He was bandegded from hair to toe.
Drana opened a bleary eye. She rubbed her other eye; the fatigue picked a good time to hit. Mmm, she just wanted to curl outside in the sun... Hey, I wonder if I look female yet? Normally, she would laugh the question off, her chest was as flat as Orous'. Because, yes, one night they did compare. Yee.... fun night that was...
Okay, no more thoughts like that for you. She stared blankly up at the, oooh, he was a halfie? A normal halfie, but then again, by now, she was too. At least, she thought so.

Aiodhan rounded a corner and came up short, surprised to find himself face to face with two very... strange beings. Then again, he himself was quite strange, so perhaps it wasn't best for him to be slapping labels on anyone else. "Hello," he said warily, his voice characterized by a deep rumble at the end. Yes, that was the draconic side of him playing again. It had started doing that a few months ago, and it was annoying Aiodhan that it kept popping up at inopportune times.
Amyla finally realized that her mate was no longer behind her. Ceasing her attempts to get his attention, she began searching through the nearest part of the store, hissing "Aiodhan!" under her breath. Where was he? Now was not the time for him to get lost, or distracted, or they would never leave!

Drana nodded once, forcing her vocal cords to deepen as well. "Hello to you too." If the dragon didn't know, she could still have her fun...
The black-cloaked figure cocked it's head/hood. "Are you Aiodhan?" The voice sounded slightly muffeled, as if something was over it's mouth.

Aiodhan blinked and tilted his head to one side. What the heck? He had met odd beings before, but these were obviously among the strangest. Him and his luck. He was a magnet for abnormal things. "Uhhh... yes, I'm Aiodhan. How do you... oh...." he said with a slight cringe as his sharp hearing detected Amyla's voice just on the edge of his audio range.
It didn't take long for Amyla to spot him. She spied his tail poking out from behind one of the clothing racks and scooted up next to him, not realizing at first that he had company. "Thanks. I was asking for your opinion and you just disa- oh... uhhh... hello!" she said in surprise as she finally spied his two new 'friends.'
Caleb cooed at the odd couple, waving a chubby baby hand in their direction.

The cloaked figure chuckled and almost seemed to smirk underneath the cloak. "She is not exactly quiet, is she?" Then again, neither is Drana... The cloaked head turned towards Amyla. A human? His fangs twitched under the wrapping; humans always tasted best...
Drana quickly jabbed Orous. She didn't need to clean up after him again. She was a little surprised that the little whelp kid wasn't scared of her, let alone Orous. They'd already caused havoc at the park with little whelps children.

"Nope!" Aiodhan replied just a bit too promptly, earning himself an elbow to the ribs courtesy of Amyla's free arm. "Not that it's a bad thing for you to be loud, but sound does carry in these sorts of places!" he quickly attempted to compensate, giving Amyla a winning smile.
His mate rolled her eyes. "Males," she said simply, her statement emphasized by the rather girly giggle her infant son emitted. "Simple in some ways and downright frustrating in others."

"If you ask me, they're too complex...but I'll agree with the downright frustrating part." The shorter one glared at the cloaked male.
Orous chuckled. "Just because I don't wear my emotions on my sleeves, means I'm complex?"
This earned him a glare. Drana wished she could set fire with her eyes. "Yes, you stupid-"
A white-gloved hand quickly clamped over Drana's mouth. Orous didn't need the little child to learn anything it shouldn't.

Amyla grinned. At least she had one ally against the forces of pigheaded males. "I think they're simple just because I can trace most of their behaviors back to basic instincts," she chuckled, watching as the shorter one was promptly silenced.
Aiodhan snorted. "There's nothing wrong with not showing emotion. It can be rather damaging to the ego to be seen as a sappy... emotional guy," he said. He tilted his head to one side. "Oh... were you about to be called something bad?"

Orous sighed. "I guess. It's just not for younger ears to hear."
Drana just glared some more. b***h.
Orous chuckled. I love you too, dear. "It's better not showing emotion sometimes, as well."
Oh how I wish for some lighter fluid...

"Ahhh. Probably good that it wasn't said, especially considering that Caleb here likes to imitate what people say," Aiodhan said much too cheerfully, earning himself another elbow to the ribs. "Owww..."
Amyla pulled a face. "Perhaps for you males it's better not to, but it drives us females crazy and prompts us to take desparate measures. By the way, Aiodhan, you never did give me an opinion on what colors you'd prefer for baby clothes."
"Not pink!" the dragon-man said instantly.

Orous 'hmmm'ed. Either Drana would have to give up swearing or... he hoped their child would never have a parrot stage.
The other half-dragon chuckled deeply. I like you.
He removed his hand from her mouth. "That reminds me, Dra-kun, we need similar things. What do you think of pink?"
This earned him a glare. "No."

Aiodhan gave a disgusted look. "Pink looks good on almost no one, and even those it looks good on still look questionable. I like light green, maybe light yellow, light blue. All very neutral colors, eh?"
Amyla sighed. "I figured you would say that." She then remembered her manners. "Oh, I'm sorry; I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Amyla, and this is my son Caleb. This oversized halfbreed is Aiodhan," she said quickly, shifting Caleb's weight on her hip.
