This RP thread is for Nikui and Jan the Verse only, yo. Shoo =D
Time to think, that was what he needed. An opportunity to detach himself from all confounding and worrisome things and to put any issues at hand into something resembling order once more. He couldn't remember responsibility or anything close to this burden he'd assumed, to take care of and direct and hope to come to some conclusion in the face of confusion and possible wrong-doing.
So he'd sent Oliver away - no, they had sent Oliver away, he and Oliver together. But now it was just him and Oliver had a whole new set of ordeals to worry about and Alex was alone with this new business of more recently resurrected vampires, no answer on Asteil's condition or his fate and Kingsley still on a terrible downward spiral. Time to think? At the very least...
Thus here he was, not the shop - too much of a possibility that someone might know him, someone from before this mess and that he'd have the urge to tell them everything and - heaven forbid - ask for advice. Not the townhouse, the nest, or anywhere remotely familiar. Seated on a bench at a small park with a playground for children, though the entire place seemed to be sparsely populated today... for whatever reason. Perhaps the heat. He'd taken to wearing t-shirts and capris in recent days himself, sacrificing his preferred long sleeves for sake of avoiding heatstroke.

Silver had made certain not to bring his kid somewhere too populated..Fae didn't seem to enjoy people very much after his brother's run-in with a random magical unicorn. Silver stood nearby said playground..'hiding' himself beneath the random cluster of trees, while his son wandered the playground itself. His flaxen irises concealed, and ears lowered, a heavy sigh escaping him.
His mate would never get off his back, and Ambrosia didn't seem to even enjoy coming near him anymore, ever since he got angry at the unicorn for hurting him. He wrinkled his nose, and grunted.
Fae, on the other hand, was quite contented with the open, unpopulated grounds. He moved over to the cold collection of poles, chains...slides, swings. Ears perked up, though, and he shifted his eyes to focus on another anthro about. Hm. Blinking, his wings stretched as he made his way over towards the other..eyes wide. He didn't see anyone outside the family homes, for the most part.
Squeaking, though, when he nearly stumbled over his oversized tail, he snatched it up, about five feet from the other male..his failed attempt to look larger with his flailed wings failing, so he folded them back to his shoulderblades, and stared.

Withdrawn from the world of waking and walking and deep inside an attempt at analysis of that which was... human, thus unintelligible, Alex failed to notice the approaching child until the poor boy tripped. His head lifted at the sudden, involuntary movement, a neutral if gentle expression settled over his features as his gaze centered on the disturbance. Lips parted slightly into a smile. Right. Playground. Thus, children and all things children brought with them - such as parents. And wings, on this one. Ah, not quite human - he was getting more accustomed to that...
The bird remained on his bench, making no move towards the child but to tilt his head to the side in what could be interpreted as either a question or an invitation, depending on the interpreter. "Hello," he said slowly, at a loss of what else to venture - there were questions, yes, but that could be an intrusion. Children were best left to set their own terms.

The little mixed-breed looked up at him when he was finally noticed, eyes blinking in pure curiosity of the other. He hadn't seen an anthro with these sort of markings and such before, it intrigued him, greatly. At the smile, he perked up a bit. He wasn't bothering him, was he..? He didn't want to do that.
Finally, at the greeting, he gave a low murring noise, then remembered his voice, and finally spoke up, "H-hello.." He murmured quietly, stepping closer, but only by a few baby-steps. "I'm..uh...not bothering, am I?" Already this is the most he'd spoken to really anyone, but his father, and brother...even his mother probably hadn't heard his voice all that much.

The smile that had been so slight settled into something more permanent. Bothering? That was a concept that had hardly crossed his mind - how could a child ever be a bother? They were moments of growth, untold activity, secrets in making. Something wonderful to see, to hear - to bother, perhaps, if the word could be defined in terms of talking and atttention.
"Not at all," Alex assured, voice touched with amusement, notes spread along the intonation like a melody. "Were you looking for something?"

Ears flicked, and he moved up closer, absently crawling up onto a further side of the bench. His curiosity was getting to him. Shifting, he turned, crossed his legs, and focused towards the angel, while his tail dropped over his lap. Lazily, his wings drooped down further on his back, while he brought a clawed hand up to play with his collar.
"Okay..." He tried to perk up a bit more, and gave him a childish smile, reaching his hand out to him--as he had seen his father to do newcomers. "I'm--Fae," he murmured, tiny hand probably comical to the larger angel.

Slowly, Alex's head tilted to the other side, chin drawing the barest amount closer to his neck as a small breath escaped, not quite a laugh but close to it. Looking? That'd been a silly question, one meant for the calculating preteen, not someone so young.
Oh, he felt so old now!
With the grace interrupted with the hesitation of one who has been still for quite a while, Alex lifted his own, fine-boned hand to the boy's and delicately took the proffered fingers with all due seriousness, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Fae," he said surely, "I'm Alex."

He didn't notice the slight laugh at all. He was too busy gawking, for the most part, taking in the presence of someone other than that of his family. He gave a brilliant, sharp-fanged smile when his hand was taken--which meant he had done something correct! He felt older already.
He gave a light chirr of happiness, mainly to himself, but he was excited, so it may have sounded a bit louder than he had intended. He withdrew his hand after a moment, and tucked it into the long fur of his tail. "What're you doing here?" He questioned, rather blatantly, looking around, wondering if Alex had children, as well.

Further amused by both the boy's obvious pleasure and the sound that derived from it, Alex's shoulders shifted slightly to again make efforts to stifle a laugh, however soft it might be. It wasn't that he worried over the boy taking offense, just that it didn't seem the sort of thing to be laughed about. Why then this reaction? He'd... things had been a little off, of late...
What was he doing here? Thinking? Not a full answer, with only two syllables and no extenuating circumstances attached, no real explanations other than possibility. Then again, might as well leave Fae's imagination to fill in the blanks. A child's interpretation was usually much more interesting than the truth. "I was looking for a place to sit," he said after the pause for thought, "And I found one," he added in good measure, smile curling somewhat in a slightly sardonic way.

His tail twitched, intently waiting for a reply. Lord knew why he was so interested in the other...and, also, why his father hadn't wandered up yet. He had probably dozed off, or something, from the stress of the family home. He smiled at the response, "It's pretty here," he glanced away from the other, and scanned over the foliage, and the playground itself.
Somehow, he didn't notice that it was strange for him to rather speak to a strange adult, than to play on the normal amusing items on the playground..it just didn't seem to catch his attention. His father had figured as much, but to get the boy out was a good thing.
Raising his hand up to run into his hair, his ears folded back slowly, and pinned to his light, auburn hair. "Why're you alone, though?" He paused. Well, technically, he wasn't alone, now, but...whatever.

It did strike Alex as somewhat odd that Fae would choose him over a playground, but... then again, not so strange - because... there wasn't an adult in sight, or even another chid who might've been the boy's companion. Children were never alone - or... rarely, at least, when outside. So it was natural that he should seek companionship, right? Not so right, some children preferred solitude away from attention. Still, there wasn't a good reason why Fae should be on his own.
He shrugged slightly, a simple raise of shoulders though they didn't fall afterwards as he looked sideways at the boy, "I'm not alone," he said with a smile that might've been cryptic to adults but was only silly to anyone younger, "Just by myself. What about you?"

His expression slipped slightly into confusion. Not alone, just by himself..? ...He blinked, not understanding...wasn't that the same thing? He pulled his longer locks over his shoulder, and began to play with them, combing his fingers through the tendrils.
"A-ah...Daddy is over there," he turned his head a bit, motioning towards the further off figure, which was now laying onto on his stomach, stretched out...looking quite comfortable, actually. "He wanted to get out of the house--something about Mommy being bothersome today," he murmured, with no modesty for personal life at all, at this point.

A bit complicated for a child, perhaps - complicated for him too, wordplay gave room for so much misinterpretation, even if it opened the door for things to... make more sense, in a way. He'd meant what he'd said, however. Alone was a very specific word, indicative of nothing so sweet as solitude or personal as loneliness, but all-encompassing and painful in its absolute.
Made self aware by Fae's combing, he tucked a stray lock behind one of his delicately pointed ears, gaze trailing over to where the boy had indicated. "People do need time to themselves, every now and then..." he agreed easily - he knew the truth of that now, even if his current isolation from certain parties to his life he would do without, had he the chance to change it. Or the will. Some things were just necessary. "So he is here to sleep..." the bird nodded slowly to himself, "And you are here to talk?"

"Daddy said that he came here to watch me play. But I dont get hurt as much as Ambrosia," he giggled a bit, the first sign of true amusement he'd given, "So he says I'm more... ..more..respo--..." Damnit, he needed to pay more attention, "Responsible!" He finally chimed, remembering the word. He smiled to himself, and watched the other toy with his own hair.
"I came here to play, but I'd rather talk!" He admitted, since he didn't get much outside contact--especially with children, but he liked to converse with adults, anyway. "Your hair is pretty." Random.

Ambrosia? That seemed an odd name for a child - perhaps a pet? But responsibility, that was something... a chime, as words had a tendency to become. Resonating in reality and reminding that things aren't nearly as clear cut as... well, as it would be nice for them to be. Because it's not that you'd like things to be simple, because then they'd be different than they are and this is the best of all possible worlds, so anything different can't quite be...
He was starting to lose thoughts, whole trains of them. The habits you picked up when certain things were missing... Something to be thought on later, perhaps, that he was replacing so strange a part of his life so drastically.
Cutting down severely on the rambling in his head, Alex's wings shifted on the other side of the bench as he leaned further into it, smiling warmly and a little color flushing over his cheeks at the compliment. It was just... a new part of life, to be commented on so innocently and positively. A different world. "Thank you very much, Fae," he said honestly in turn. Truth to children, they deserved no less. "What would you like to talk about?" A welcome of the roundabout sort.
