Has anyone see this yet? I went out and saw it last night, and I can say I was really disturbed by the film. Granted, it had it's flaws, like all films, but I want to liken this film to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre as it's relentless and graphic.

Local newspaper hated the film. Even though Gene Seymour gave it two out of four stars, the review reads like a hilarious Roger Ebert pan. "Here we go again. Obnoxious kids get lost in the woods. Look for help. Find a spooky house that's--yes--made entirely of wax. Carnage ensues, but you'll have to wait a while. Use the time to ponder how Vincent Price's death 12 years ago left the world a drearier place." --Gene Seymour, Newsday. I'd love to copy and paste the entire review, but that would be wrong. If you want to have a good laugh though, you can read it here.

PossessedByDevil I hate Vincent Price remakes. I refuse to see the remake of House of Wax. It looks like it sucks a**. Of course it's going to suck; it's an obvious rehash of the basic Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake formula...but with wax.

Also, in reply to the first post, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake is terrible. You have to start seeing the originals.

PossessedByDevil Off Topic: Your sig made me laugh. Thanks, I made it myself. PossessedByDevil On Topic: I don't understand the remakes of Vincent Price films. Why does Hollywood have to go and do that? To paraphrase the Newsday review I supplied, the mainstream film industry has been relying on these tactics lately in an attempt to overcome dwindling ticket sales. Besides, Dark Castle Entertainment appears to have a perverse obsession with producing lousy horror films ( The House on Haunted Hill remake, 13 Ghosts remake, Ghost Ship, Gothika...)

Casey_Type R You guys should really give it a chance, it's alot better then you're probably imagining. Give a film with Paris Hilton in it a chance? Has anyone ever seen a film in which she acted before House of Wax? It's not a pretty sight. I don't expect her to have improved much since then. I also tend to stay away from films directed by people who have never had any previous experience in the movie industry.

Webpage TitleIt's up to you, but I think you're missing out on a pretty good movie. Better than alot of the horror that's been coming out. And Paris only has like..10 minutes of screen time in the movie. They tend to keep her away, as she can't act. Her only job is to sex things up.

Oh, there have been pleanty of good horror movies lately--90% of which are spawned on the indy circuit and do not get wide releases (See Also: Dead End, Dead and Breakfast, The Machinist). Still, regardless of how much screen time she gets, Paris Hilton is in the film, and because she is the most vile, wretched thing to ever walk the Earth, I will be avoiding this film at all costs. (Special Note: I also just read that the boom mic makes about twenty appearances in the finished project.)
