According to news reports, Christiano da Matta has been seriously injured, and required surgery on a ruptured blood vessel in his head, after his Champ Car stuck a deer while training and testing at Road America, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
Da Matta had to have surgery on a subdural hematoma, according to CCWS doctors. He was airlifted to hospital from the crash site, and at last known status, still unconscious as of Thursday night.

Da Matta will no doubt be out for the rest of the season if he still gets out of this okay.
