Peri was brushing his hands together in hopes of removing the chalk dust from his fingers. He needed to get some of those chalk holder things to prevent the dust from sticking to his fingertips while writing.

The chalkboard reads 'constriction', 'blindsight', and 'excellent sight'.

(I wasn't sure if I was just supposed to pop in or what, but as the title claims to be for lindworm I guess I will.)

Only one more class to go and she could go home! Home sweet home normally she loved being in school, but today she was just so hungry! She hadn't had time to eat at lunch, sadly, and greatly regretted it. "I'd like to hurry up with this!" Sahra roared, darting up to an unfamiliar classroom doorway.

"Okay Srra-cub." Responding in an almost scary one, Ephrem seldom spoke, well, to anyone other than his cherished partner. But recently he had proven himself to be rather good at speaking. "Mm, new teacher, meh." Re had been following the cheetah directly at her side.

"I hear ya Re," The spotted girl mumbled softly, quickly turning her attention back to the seemingly empty classroom, "Hello? She called out, shoving herself into the doorway.

Peri turned as a voice called out from the doorway. "Ah, hello, hello. I'm Mr. Coleman. Come on in and take a seat." He gestured to the cushions on the floor. "To start off, do you have any questions about your dragon?"

"Well um, yeah I have a few questions, I guess. I know I tried to think up some on our way here, but I think I forgot most of them. But hm..." Taking the moment to think, she instinctively reached down to her side as her partner coiled his long snake-like body loosely around her legs. "Oh! How long are Lindworms nails supposed to get? Like how long should they be? Because Yin usually fusses over Re having long claws, since he tends to scratch up the floors when he is using his from feet. So she snips them off with heavy duty tree trimmers."

That did sound abnormal, but the truth was the truth! She couldn't do to much about it. "And what is their general temperament? I'm just curious, since I can always find stuff on other dragons, like the black or white dragons, but stuff on Lindworms is so hard to find! And what are they supposed to eat? I just want him to be healthy. We normally consume mostly raw deer sorts of meats, and a lot of fast food (can you blame us?) with his especial obsession with Tacos." Blabbing away, she was obvious to the fact that she may be talking to fast, or to much. Her eyes were glued on Ephrem, stroking his head lovingly, while he was simply about to fall asleep. "And one other thing, do Lindworms grow horns as they grow older? I really hope not, because I am pretty sure that Yin might try to saw them off in his sleep."

And the girl wasn't kidding, it was something she would do, in fear of the dragon growing aggressive towards someone and hurting them. She didn’t want no lawsuits!

Peri blinked at that long speech. "Well, uh... Lindworms, also known as linnorms if you're trying to find information about them, seem to like either digging or running, so their claws can get somewhat long. Like all other dragons, they use them when fighting." The parent's nail trimming might not be helpful later on when the girl had to start doing the little battle things that were planned.

"Lindworms generally could care less on just about everything. He would like meat like all other dragons, though I believe Lindworms also love camel meat..." He glanced at Ephrem for a moment. "Not that much, really. They grow as the dragon does, but they stay close to the same proportion."

"Linnorms, huh? I'll make sure to remember that." Sahra thought she may have read or even heard something about those before from Yin or one of her books. But she could just be mixing it up with half a million other possibilities, as well; who knows. "That sounds about right, especially the running part. Not so much sure about the digging part, although Re ripped open the floor from the first floor into the basement a couple of times. Hm." Maybe that'd been the case?

"Camel meat? Ew, I don't think we'd ever have that around." She better not ever mention that fact to Olly, it wouldn't be very pleasant, nope. "So does his skin, like his scaling or colouration change at all? Or is it pretty much as it should be? What are the purposes of the colour? I always wondered since he has been known to use the lay/dirt colour of his skin to hide. Man does he hide well."

Watching in a rather interested manner, Ephrem's intense eyes kept turning their tides from side to side, watching the facial expressions of both creatures. It was rather fascinating to be learning about himself, some of these things even he didn't know.

Peri grinned at the girl's reaction to his mention of camel meat. "Some dragons have coloration that helps them hide, like in the case of yours, and some don't. Since Lindworms don't have wings to fly, it makes sense that they would have coloration that would help them to hide if needed. Other dragons can fly away from an enemy if they need to. Though a Lindworm is usually faster and can run away. It also helps in catching prey."

"Umm..." Taking a moment to try and think straight, the cheetah's thoughts were just so jumbled and all over the place. But even so, she couldn't think of any more questions! That was a shame, that she had so few anyways, but nothing sparked her mind, at least nothing of interest. She could probably answer most of the little questions on her own, so she guessed she was through. Maybe.

"Okay, I can't really think of anything else to ask, 'ya know? So um," She continued, "I am sure you have new things to teach me yet! Right?" Asking in a hopeful sort of voice, Sahra's tone and expression made her seem more than just crazy, more like on the insane sort of mental belong in confinement sort of way. She was just eager, that was all.

Peri nodded and pointed up to the board. "Constriction is the lindworm's form of attack. They wrap themselves around their prey and squeeze tightly. They also have what's called blindsight, which just means they can see in the dark really well. On top of that, they have excellent sight in normal light as well."

Nodding madly in response to the teacher, she listened anxiously as he spoke more on the topic of Lindworms. "Okay, okay, I see." She said with a bright grin, "So they're a lot like say a python; being non venomous they need to use their tough muscular bodies to constrict their pray in order to kill them. It makes perfect sense!"

This idea excited the cheetah. Ears flickering and tail thumping against random objects that stood in its path, Sahra took a moment to let everything sink in, hoping that for once, she would not plum forget everything! "Why exactly do they need such good sight? Especially at night? What's the purpose of that?" She asked curiously, head turning downwards towards her comrade as he coiled himself around her legs, as usual.

Peri grinned at the girl. "Exactly!"

"Well, since their main prey is camels, the reasoning for their excellent night vision would probably be so that they can sneak up on a herd during the night and catch their dinner." Peri shrugged.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 13, 2006 6:25 pm

"Well I guess that might be it. But still, camels are very strange animals and I don't know a thing about them." It was strange really, because if she remembered correctly one of her first friends was a camel. She guessed that wouldn't matter to much. "So I can't really elaborate to much. I really don't think Ephrem will be eating camel any time soon; I think he'd much rather eat tacos." Yes, she knew that was a definite piece to the puzzle, for the lindworm could never keep his greasy paws off of a taco when he knew there was one around.

With a toothy stare the lindworm let off a small, but rather obnoxious sound, "Hmph." He pouted, resilient. "So what." Turning away from the cheetah's side, irritated, Ephrem couldn't help seeming vein.

Peri shrugged. "Well, to each his own."

"If you don't have any more questions, then we're done here." He added to the cheetah girl.

Sahra nodded, taking the moment to ponder all the new things she had learned. The cheetah slowly slipped back into reality as she realized something: "No, I don't have anymore questions, I don't think, Sir." She said with a bright, exicted grin, "So then I'll be off! See you later, Sir. Thanks for all the awesome information!" Signaling to Ephrem that it was time to go, the feline had something in mind as she wandered off, something devious...
