Did you know:
clear quarts crystals are primarily used as energy amplifiers during rituals.
And can be programed to hold or collect certain energies until cleansed (which is also why they are used in healings)

Also that in my parents yard a small cluster is buried under a spruce tree to be used as a light ancoring point biggrin

yup yup yup

If you have any comments or questions about using crystals, gems and such and how they are used feel free to post then here

-Crystals-
They are also ability enhancers and are more effectetive with your emotions and the source of how that energy is released.

The crystal and stone varieties also play a signifigant role and deturmin how the emotions or energies are used. For example sodilite and Amethyst might help provide a peaceful feeling to someone who is stressed out, but Obsidian might help a person express their feelings a bit more.

how about Ruby and Ameshty?

Amethyst is my favorite. In part because I'm an early Feb. Baby heheheh
But I like its calming effect, the cluster I have feels like it is humming a luluby when i hold it.

But apparently it is good for warding off insomnia and nightmares promotes good dreams and prevents over sleeping, also used for healing, enhancing 6th sense, redusing tension and stress, offers protection during travels and against theives, promotes courage, love and happiness. And I've heard that it can also be used to assist in overcoming Alcololizm. But haven't tested that theory on my grandpa who has been an alcoholic for decades. It is one of the more versitile stones.

Ruby is also an anti-nightmare and is said to grow darker when danger or illness draws near. Also increases energy levels and body warmth, and attract joy.

Emerald Apparently is good for love and business/sales spells also in exorcisms. Once thought to strengthen memory and help those with tired or weak eyes to relax the optic nerve and restore sight. Also used to prevent nocturnal emissions.

Sodalite I have a few natural chunks of this stuff. I like it because it looks like fast flowing water like rapids or waterfalls. So much so that one of my flatter peices serves as a base for a Jade Bear figuring with a fish in his mouth. It is neat to meditate with as it is another relaxation stone, great for healing emotional stress, nervousness and anger. I've been tempted to take some with me to work as right now the stress levels are through the roof, but not all of my co-workers like carrying stones in their pockets wink

Jade I mentioned it I may as well add it. It inspires wisdom, and promotes longevity. When shaped like a butterfly it is used to draw in love or obtain it. As a healing stone it is helpful for kidney, heart and stomach complaints, and may guard against bladder problems. When used in gardening it can help the growth of plants.
I have 3 peices the bear, a wolf and a dolphin figurines. (and the only reason the dolphin isn't on the sodolite as well id because it came with it's own base razz )

Obsidian: also known as "volcanic glass". It actually comes in many different colours as well as a form known as the Apache Tear. But the only samples I have are the Black and Snowflake Obsidian and for now those are the ones I am going to discribe.

Most people don't like to use obsidian. Old beliefs of black being negative still linger. My uncle was the first person to offer me a warning about it as it can awaken those negative thoughts and feelings that most people try to hide and don't want to face. But people who like to travel sky wards during meditations often feel weighted down or that they are sinking, or can't move. Truth is, Obsidian is a grounding stone great for those who feel light headed or "flighty" after a meditation, or just can't seem to focus during activity (wonder how well it works for those with ADD?). It acts as an anchor and balances the spirit and the body. And the stuff my uncle was talking about...it can do that, and under the right circumstances becomes a very powerful healing tool for those who are prepared to face those blocks and feelings that are causing the discomfort or dis-ease. But it can also protect against negativity. And it can be just as good for scrying as a crystal ball, if not better.

Snowflake Obsidian, recognizable as a more dark greyish colour with white or light grey specks that look like snow but is actually volcanic ash that got caught in the lava flow as the stone quickly cooled. It is also good for grounding, but not as blunt or direct as Black obsidian would be and a bit easier for people to accept. It aids in opening up the crown chakra and enhance ones energy fields.

If you can't tell, Obsidian is also among my favorite stones. I have tenis ball size obsidian sphere that I like to roll in my hands when I am stressed. And a peice of snowflake obsidian which I just like looking at just because of the ash specks. But what is really cool was how both peices helped choose the name for my cat. But that is another story for another time blaugh

You know if anyone ever wants to read up on crystals The books I have are Love is in the Earth by Melody, and (Scott) Cunninghham's Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem and Metal Magic. I do have a couple more, but I don't like them as much. But if you truely want to know what your crystals can do meditate with them and let them show you as each peice has its own story to tell.

I just picked up an unpolished wand of Selenite
Reminds me of feathers (which can also be used in healing ceremonies besides smudging)
Selenite Mental clarity, insight, awareness. In meditation, can be used as a tool to aid in accessing past and future lives. Beneficial to the spinal column and skeletal system, muscular structure, and cellular structure. Assists in alignments

Um, not to sound rude but what about peridot? I'm just curious because one never hears much about it, and it's my birthstone.

Oh and the amythist, I remember this from somewhere, can't remember where, but I want to know if it's true, you are supposed to hold it in your left hand to get in touch with your inner self, correct? Also that it was considered a ward against witchcraft...and emerald I believe is also used to clear the mind and promote creativity, right?

Most Green coloured stones are associated with healing, creativiity and calming effects along with some blues pinks and purples, White, and clear are purification and cleansing, and darker tones are grounding and stabilization. But those are just general uses. Each stone does have the potential to do more than what its colour and mineral make up say it should do. When I go into a store to purchase stones I go in with a specific purpose and price range in mind and usually the ones that stand out the most are the ones which can associate to that purpose.

According to some of the healing courses I have taken, energy is said to flow into the right and and out the left, but I don't know if it is opposite for Left handed people or not. But personally, I don't think it matters as even the stones have perfered hands (or other body areas) and angles they like in order to be effective.

Amethyst is a multi tasking stone and has many tales and myths associated with it. It is considered a protection stone,so there is the possibility that during days when witchcraft was widely feared people wore Amethyst for that reason.

Peridot can be used as a replacement for Emerald during spell casting. But is also used to sooth nervousness, calm anger, promote sleep, relieve depression and bring luck.
