Is it just me or does anyone else find Yuu Watase's endings somewhat...disappointing! The way she ended Ayashi no Ceres and Fushigi Yugi: The Mysteious Play was pretty good but her other work, such as, Imadoki or Alice 19th, I thought could have been much better. So I was just interested in knowing what everyone else thought!

Haven't read Imadoki in awhile, I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Zettai Kareshi was disappointing. More realistic, but disappointing to me just the same.

Alice 19th irritated me. The story and characters were built up rather steadily until volume 4 or so, and then suddenly the pace quickens and it seems like the last three volumes --and all the information in them-- are jammed down your throat. Then the end just comes out of the fog somewhere, and bang! --you slam full-force to a stop.

I felt cheated. confused

Yeah... I haven't read A19th for a while, but I remember feeling really overwhelmed. I forgot about half the stuff
as soon as I closed vol. 7... blaugh sweatdrop I still haven't read Bride, probably either A: Because I haven't been to a bookstore in eons. B:Because I really started to fall out of the original FY after 13. I really think that's where she should have ended it, not with the whole "finding Tama's balls so he can make out with Miaka" thing and all. The TasukixMiaka scene was really the only noteworthy thing there... mrgreen

Sorry for the double post, but as you can see, I really hate Tamahome and Miaka evil xp

I think her endings are good, storywise. It has nice closure, and the stuff leading up to them really make you want to keep reading until the end.
but in all the ones I've read, the girl ends up with the guy I don't like!! scream

Gosh,I'm scared to read the ending of Absolute Boyfriend(i heard it was sad)plus I found out something sad in Ceres too.

I totally dislike sad endings.
Watase always seems to kill off my fav characters crying
(its true)

One word of advice...Don't read the ending to Zettai Kareshi in the store.

I think the way Yuu Watase tries to end her series is realistic (though I'm not saying I even like all of them). Sometimes things turn out good, sometimes they turn our bad. Almost all of her endings are mixed - you can be partially happy and partially sad depending on your interpretations of the ending, and the characters that you felt most strongly about. I actually have noticed a lot of other things her endings have in common, but I don't want to post that here due to spoilers. I'll probably make a thread for it eventually...

Ceres and Fushigi Yuugi had nice endings.
Alice 19th was a bit rushed...
And Imadoki was sorta good, but a little short. I liked the "letter" ending.

Ditto. 3nodding
The only thing I didn't like about the
Ceres ending, was what Toya said to Yuhi. He said...
Quote:
Toya: Her time with me may be short, Aogiri. It's all right, she knows. It might be a year or two... maybe longer... but the time will come... And when it does... please take care of her.

I understand Yuhi being able to give Aya any help she may need, that's no problem. But I don't like the idea of Toya dying. It's not because he's a heartthrob for me (he's not), but it seemed kinda pointless to put that in. Maybe Watase wanted to give Yuhi more of a chance. But I think I like the happily-ever-after-ending. 3nodding
Other than that, though, it was cool. 3nodding
