I'm a HUGE fan of Silent Hill... whether it be the games, the movie, or just the whole fictional storylines and history behind it all. (I'm actually a member of the SH guild here in Gaia... hehe
smile ) The makers of Silent Hill always go so indepth with the history of the characters and the town itself that it's hard not to get fully involved with it all. It almost makes you want to believe that there really could be a Silent Hill in real life. (check:
Centralia, Pennsylvania in Wikipedia). And since it all seems so believable, it's a lot of fun to get really involved in the fictional world and discuss theories about the games and the characters with other SH fans.
My least favourite game out of the 4 is so far the third one. I just really hated the camera angles in it... it was really frusturating. I know that they were put in to "enhance" the atmosphere but it did nothing for me except really hate the game for it.
I'm playing SH 4 right now so I can't say if I don't like it or not... so far so good though for the most part. I am disappointed with it though for two reasons: One, you don't really fight much of anything... half of the enemies you can't really kill, you can only hit them down and they'll just get back up 30 seconds later. So you just mostly run away from everything... which is so not like normal SH gameplay usually. I'm also disappointed because really, they didn't even plan on making SH 4: The Room as a Silent Hill game in the first place. In the middle of developing it, the head honchos decided it would be too risky to advertise it and sell it as a lone game on it's own... so they changed around the storyline a bit and threw in some SH references and slapped on the title of Silent Hill. Seems pretty cheap a** to me.
sad I love the first and second Silent Hill games... for me, those could probably be my most favourite games. They're just classics, everyone has to play them. But out of the two I suppose the second is the best... but they're both great.
biggrin As far as the movie goes, I was fairly impressed. It was probably one of the better video game-turned movies that I have seen... usually those types of movies crash and burn... hard. The environment and overall atmosphere displayed in the movie was right on target for Silent Hill. It felt exactly like it does in the games. The best parts about it though are when those sirens go off... gotta love those sirens!! The only thing I might not of liked so much was that I probably would have prefered if they followed the same storyline as SH1... but hey I still liked the movie, it was quite entertaining for a SH fan, for me at least.
smile I can't wait until Silent Hill: 0rigins comes out for PSP!!!!! AHHHHH!!! hehe.
smile Sorry for such the long post, but I really do love Silent Hill.
